I find it interesting to read Youtube comments for these videos and that quite a few people like this cartoon. I personally think this is a good cartoon (except for the Black Beauty bit) and I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one around nowadays who appreciates it. I like Daffy in this carton, in this and in The Daffy Duckaroo he does very passionate love speeches that you don't often see in modern cartoons.
Another cartoon I haven't seen in over 50 years. I remember the wolf and the "don't eat me I am only skin and bones" and even the army doesn't want me! lol As a child I was scared during the wolf scenes which is why I never forgot this cartoon.
This cartoon was included on one of my Public Domain VHS tapes, it was in black & white, and it was redrawn in color. It has the redrawn WB logo In a red background which you don't see it very often, because it's rare, and then the creepy "Porky in a Drum" ending from 1943-46.

@ToonReel001 They should release a DVD set focusing on Daffy's early days when he was directed under Bob Clampett, Robert Mckimson and Tex Avery. That's when Daffy was at his funniest
Whoa, old print. Hope this gets restored when it's put on DVD, I hate seeing the good stuff in poor shape. I also just got an idea: WB should put the Looney Tunes on special 'for the decade' DVDs. Meaning a 1930's DVD (with the 1929 "Bosko the Talk Ink Kid", and Tiny Toons "Fields of Honey" and "Two Tone Town" added as bonuses), a 1940's DVD (with a feature that allows you to see all the WWII ones in marathon form, with the Animaniacs "Of Course You Know This Means Warners" as a bonus), etc.
I go by cartoon rather than era. For example many of the Tex Avery cartoons crack me up, and I also like Duck Amuck and Corny Concerto (just to name a couple).
pisses me off they stopped making the golden collection this one of cartoons I wanted remastered on DVD and "Prize Pest" One of mckimsons funnies Porky and Daffy cartoons
@SagooBoy Actually while the Golden Collections are cancelled they are continuing the DVDs, this time character based sets. Daffy Duck: Frustrated Foul is an upcoming release that in fact features The Prize Pest and lot of other McKimson shorts not yet remastered (eg. Dime To Retire, Ducking the Devil). Don't know if it will be released outside Region One though.

I loved these cartoons. The only thing i hated about them was that they cut the funniest parts. Like the black people, violence, indians, etc.

From 1941. Was colorized twice...in 1968 and 1990.
Rlotpir1972 2 years ago
I know you won't believe me but the 1968 colorized version was actually redrawn. 1990 was computer colorized.
clarkstuff 2 years ago
You're right. The 1968 version was redrawn and released as a W-7 (Warner Bros.-Seven Arts) cartoon.

Worth it though, I'd definitely buy it.

lol; sounds like this would cost in excess of $200-300 or more! You seem like you're a big fan of Looney Tunes!
Brinah 2 years ago
Oh yeah, huge fan. I even know about the Looney Tunes that existed before Porky (they're really good).

i always thought the cartoons from the 1930s were funnier than the later editions!
