I love the song, but not Raj Kapoor's mophead. I hope no one gets upset at me for this, as they did for viraasat's comment about Nargis' lack of (classic) beauty (say, compared with Nutan's). She definitely had a great presence and fine fine acting (the best in Mother India). Not "ugly" to me, though.

THe mophead is what is actually realistic and natural. See the great thing abt this fantastic song is that acting was not like acting but a picture of real day to day life.

The emotion expressed is what everybody of flesh & blood should feel in everyday life in terms of falling in real love.

Of course both Nargis and Raj were Shakespearean real characters and modern day actors or actresses can never even do anything closed to what they did in those golden days!!!!!!
