The Wii has wipped out a number of games to be rememberd for besides SSBB. It has Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy (BTW this game has be praised by real gamers you know people whose opinions on game actually matter) Wii Sports has gotten awards. The Legend of Zelda! Mario Kart Wii, Okami Wii version. THe list goes on. Now I agree with you that people are wasting their time buy the NES/SNES games when they can just download it.

Just because the Wii doesn't have powerful graphics or great online doesn't make it a "gimmick". The way I see it, Nintendo actually innovated the industry while the 360 and PS3 offer the same thing but wrapped in better gift wrap.
