to train any small dog , puppy - you have to get ahead of what you don't want to happen...wetting inside ...get up early , take them outside , encourage them for correct responses / take them outside to the chosen "WET " AREA , SO THAT THEY ASSOCIATE THE BEHAVIOUR WITH SCENT + PLACE.

There is lots more , but westies are smart , and are ready to please you/ never scold or punish*

anyone asking about which dog to include in their family, westie or maltese , should buy<<< a maltese ...because the westie is light years ahead of all small breeds in terms of character & life...If U dont know this , then , buy some other dog ...westies belong with true believers

Oh hello, I need a little help, i am getting a puppy soon but I dont know what kind of dog I should. A maltese or a west highland white terrier. Im not really sure bout the westie cuz ppl told me that they r hard to potty train, but they r cute. Maltese r cute too I just cant decide!

We put a newspaper where he(Westie) liked to go and then slowly moved it toward the back door until it was outside. He seemed to naturally want to go outside anyway. If they are in a situation they hate, they seem to go (like being locked in a room by themself,...etc.). At the end of his life he would go inside sometimes thats because he had health issues.
