Most American directors are shit compared to Park, especially in the horror/psychological category. Looks good...as in well made. I just saw "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance", and it does look as if he's advance to better things in this movie. Advancing on to better story-telling but also to more disturbing things (which, when it comes to my own taste in movies, may not be a good thing).

This movie was weird, I liked I think only b/c the love story reminded me of my "relationship" I had, I did bad things and he kept "letting me," then he turned against me cuz he was fake, but anywho, it shows how much he loves her, he'll do anything for her, and he keeps cleaning up her messes, but he stands by her, wants her to change, BUT, doesn't pursue it. I liked the movie.

I'll skip it. After Old Boy ended with the heroic protagonist being tricked by the villain into sleeping with his daughter and being utterly defeated I expect more demoralzing nonsense posing as art from Thirst. This director needs therapy.

I really enjoyed the warped sense of humor. Some of the scenes bordered on slapstick, which instead of making the movie silly, just served to make it more distrubing. Between this and Old Boy, this guys on a roll. I should be getting Sympathy for Mr. Vengence in the mail in a week or two. Can't wait.

I just saw this movie. This is indeed another Chan Wook Parks masterpiece. It was sensual, bloody, suspenseful, romantic. Some of the scenes were exotic and sexy. Other scenes made me clinch my teeth. This is THE BEST vampire movie I've seen by far.
