Excuse Me? MATT FREEMAN!!!!!!, i totally agreed with your drumers video... but this video i have problems with, Metal is where the awesome drummers are at, BUT PUNK IS WHERE THE AWESOME BASSISTS ARE AT!!!!!!!!
THATS A GOOD LIST YET MAN I REALLY DONT THINK WE CAN MAKE A FAIR LIST.NOT JUST YOU BUT ANYONE WHO LOVES MUSIC CAUSE WE ARE PARTAL TO THOSE WE FAVOR MORE.I THINK IT'S BEST TO SAY WE'VE BEEN BLESSED TO SEE SOME OF THE BEST TALLENT EVER AND LEAVE IT THERE
10. Couldn't hear anything but shouting. 9. Pick. 8. Fair enough. 7. He bores me, no stage presence. 6. Agreed wholeheartedly. 5. Should be 8, Sheehan 6, and Myung 5. 4. Agreed. Entwhistle was a beast of the highest order. 3. Definitely. 2. Fully agreed. 1. Should be 3rd, Flea and Lee moved up one each. And also, Wooten and Pastorious? Maybe John Paul Jones too.
For me its The Ox - The Who, if you watch him play he is all over the frets, where as he could have played the same licks more simpler he gets bored if he has to play orthodox so he re-invents a different far more difficult Technique which I am pretty sure most other bassists would find impossible to play, especially with Keith Moon leading on drums.
None of your top 10 can touch Stanley Clarke. If you asked these players on your list could they, they all would say the same thing I'm saying. I like Flea, and Geddy though.
Thanks for uploading this! you'll get a lot of shit about your choices only because everyone has their own top lists, but I like learning what other people think is best, and why. Might lead me to someone new, or a new perspective on an old one, always stay open to learning something rather than thinking one knows it all. Music is a gift free to give. Thanks for this present :)
Nothing against these guys, big fan of most of them. But I'd like to hear them turn off the distortion and see who compares to Victor wooten, Stanley Clarke, Jaco Pastorius, Ray Riendeau, Yiorgos Fakanas, Doug Johns, or Jon Reshard. Distortion does not equal skill.
I would have liked to see chris squire (Yes) and Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads) on the list because "Roundabout" and "Psycho Killer" were the two songs that made me want to play bass.
@oggwurt Geddy Lee, Chris Squire, Steve Harris, Flea, John Paul Jones, and Les Claypool are all better than Cliff Burton. I could name more upon request.
@RustyFerretStudios SERIOUSLY?!?! :O ...OH YEAH? DO YOU NOW WANT A LOLLY POP OR SOMETHING? OR MAYBE A STICKER? but ok youre right HEY GUYS THIS GUY IS RIGHT!
@tapoutdrummer98 Its funny that you call me a retarded shit when you misspelled but. And John Enthwistle is the best bassist ever. And I didn't ask for your opinion and I don't want it. Because I honestly don't give a fuck what you think. Don't bother replying, because anything you send me is just going to be ignored.
Not a bad list at all. I'm sure that there are going to be questions about "what about.....?", so here is my input.
What about Michael Anthony (Van Halen)? Without him, Eddie's guitars wouldn't have as much bite. What about Joey DeMaio (Manowar)? Heavy as shit and crazy live solo's...
i believe he actually did that order to get a response cause that was absolutely horrible order and to be honest im only commenting cause i am an basses an know some of those rifts and you wouldn't want to try cliff's stuff unless you got years of calluses built up so technically you need to walk away from the computer an try to do some of them before you say that palming guy is number 2 inwhich i agree he is number 2 as in crap
Again like in the drum video one there is no such thing as best bassists of all time or anthing And the guys said Favourite not best also MEGADETH BASS SOLO wow I never seen one of them
@mcard1d I don't actually think so. IMO, Cliff Burton is pretty much the most overrated bassist of all time. Just beacuse he died in a tragic accident does not mean he is the best bassist ever. In my opinion, Les Claypool is for me the best. Why? Beacuse he has played every style there is, and lets loose his creative sides. I dunno, just my opinon.

i was about ready to throw a fit that I wasnt seeing les in there!!!! Mr claypool is by far one of the best!!! as for the rest ehhhh soso there are better..
When people talk about the best metal bassists, about everytime they forget Alex Webster of Cannibal Corpse. He deserves to be in this list more than dave ellefson or cliff, no offence to those dudes but alex is just better.
