  • ONE of the best instrumentals ever!

  • The title was first "Dragstrip" but was changed during the session, the sax and the bass was also added.

John 15 years old and Pete 16 at the time.

  • Search for "Stampede Pete Antell" (formerly Antonio) and see the clip from the film.

  • Reviewed in The Billboard's Music Popularity Charts Sep. 28 1959:

    Prince 1207

"A fine instrumental blues with lots of echo. Side makes use of a downward progression of notes as one of its base themes. Plenty of raucous guitar and sax sound here (Atlantc, BMI)"

  • Appeared in the movie "Dragstrip Girl"

Recorded 1959 Allegro Sound Studios NY

    Tony Lepard - drums

    John Sanzone - guitar

    Pete Antonio - lead guitar

    Howard Herman - tenor sax

    Bert Salmirs - piano

    unknown - upright bass
