@Jerzyboii1 The beginning of the video is in 3d. It can be viewed with blue/amber glasses to show the depth. Later in the vid it gives examples with blue/red and magenta/green as well. Generally, the video, for the most part, is not 3d.
@itman131313 when I made this a couple years ago there was no yt3d, no 3d editor. It was just a reply to a comment I got from a viewer on how to make an anaglyph video. Youtube's come a long way in this area. That being said, there are still some principles in this vid that are helpful in making field sequential footage, and not needing an internet connection to do it.
@BCompHelp This vid was made before the yt3d interface. I no longer have the right/left sides in the introduction, but feel free to browse my other 3d vids that have the interface enabled.
Where can $40 shutterglasses with monitor dongle be found? I have not found it yet. Bottom line is: using your procedure outlined in this video, you can take a normal video and post process it to make a 3d video? You need any special 3d camera?
look up X3D TECHNOLOGIES X3D Gaming System on Amazon. It does require a crt monitor, however. Using the technique in the video, you need to have footage from 2 sources - I work with 2 cameras on a bar with the centers of the lenses spaced 2.5 inches apart. There are ways to convert 2d-3d for 2 separate views but the results aren't as believable as doing it with dual cameras, or a camera with a dual lens.
What kind of 3d glasses is best? I only have Real D 3d glasses. When viewing this video, I still see ghosted images in different colors. Very interesting topic. I look forward to getting the correct 3d glasses to view your videos. Take care.
@puchovideo The RealD glasses are the only glasses that WON'T work for anything on the internet. Blue/Amber colorcode video shows colors more faithfully, but the image is really dark on the blue side. Red/blue seems to be more "accepted" due to the abundance of material on the net. I would recommend for viewing the yt3d material on youTube a $40 set of shutterglasses with a dongle for your monitor. It provides true color field sequential viewing of interlaced 3d
@southsider1036 There are a few moments where I'm showing in virtualdub the different type of color glasses options that may be viewable, but the intro is viewable in colorcode (blue/amber). Essentially though, this is a 2d tutorial about 3d, probably the last one in 2d that I will do.
I'm surprised that you of all people haven't seen it. It's on the verge of being my most popular video and does motivate me in the direction of doing more tutorials.
It could be that Windows isn't associating .inf with a system setup file. Give this a try. Right click on the file (make sure the zip file is extracted into a folder), and from the pop up menu, select "install." It should work.
Adding a 2nd camera in 3d in After Effects won't help. It will be like taking a picture using 2 cameras of a 2d image. However, I see from your videos that you work w/ 3d animation software. You should be able to get 2 distinct views by setting up an adjacent camera.
Nope. I have chatted with some on youtube who have converted frame-by-frame a single cam video into a second view with a bas-relief type program, and it looks awful, but was a good test. If you want true 3D, you have to have 2 cameras.
It sounds quite complicated to do, but YouTube has just made it really easy with their 3D feature you just have to put both left and right vids side by side and upload it whilst putting this code in the tags box yt3d:enable=true if you do this whoever watching it can select the viewing style eg, amber blue, cross eyes, red blue etc its very clever, but I would like to learn the proper way (your way) if i can get the hang of it, 1st I need a 2nd camera......
Virtualdub is nice because it not only allows you to do something, it helps you understand why you get the results you do. This vid was placed on YT right before the new interface, so I kind of regret not putting into the tutorial making an avisynth file that would produce a cross eyed view. It is simple, just wasn't covered here (like doing shutter glass field sequential).
With the preload dll I extracted w/ winrar into a folder, should have 3 files -huffyuv.dll, huffyuv.inf, and readme.txt. One thing I neglected to say is you'll need right click over the inf to install if Windows has a different association for the file type besides setup.
To be honest, it is just as easy to do red/blue anaglyph through After Effects plug-in as well (as I normally do), but to have a choice on the type of 3D (green/magenta, blue/amber, blue/red and field sequential which isn't covered here) I've found it hard to beat the VirtualDub route. No cost, no space restrictions. So I do hope folks will benefit from this.

nice video! however it's much easier to use stereo movie maker to create anaglyph (red/cyan) video since it's superior to colorcode anyhow.
