Great shot!! It's amazing how smart people are when they haven't shot a bow. Or been hunting with a bow or gun for that matter. I haven't seen a bear go any farther than 50yds unless the hunter gets out their blind TOO soon. Because of adrenalin, the bear can run that far. Seen some of them come right back to where they were shot too. The vitals area gets slashed up good with a broadhead. Best way to bleed the animal out. No need to stick them, only need a good skinning knife.

When I hunt I kill the animal fast (shot to the head) and I always eat it afterwards. This seems a bit cruel to me as the bear would have gone off and died a very slow and painful death. I could not do this, personally.

I thought I agreed with all kinds of hunting until I saw this! unless this bear was a threat to livestock or humans then why shoot it? As far as I know you can't eat it so whats the point? Is one arrow even enough to kill a bear? I know it depends on where you shoot it but the chances of hitting this guys heart is slim

Bear meat is good , I like to dry the meat and rub Sassafras leaf seasoning into it . Im not sure as to how many arrows can kill the bear but iv'e read in an Ishi book he took Black Bear with 50# Indian style weapons . If that can do it than this sure as hell can .

I think hunters who bait bears or use dogs should be dropped off in Africa with a buck knife and try to kill something. Wheres the challenge? You have the advantage with a weapon, give them a little slack.  Hunters like you make other more humane and ethnic hunters like me want to quit hunting all together. The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries determines when ALL animal species reach a critical mass and give out hunting tags every few years to allow hunters to thing the herd. The Wildlife Department would have to destroy X amount of animals anyway, so they issue hunting tags for certain species and allow civilian hunters to thin the herd. That's just intelligent conservation.
