  • Lol, This girl knows nothing of powerlifting. That was the least informative piece of crap I have ever seen. All information that was conveyed was false. I'm not even going to explain to you why because you probably wouldn't understand. I mean c'mon. I hope nobody takes her advice. Search "So you think you can bench" and watch that video series if you're powerlifting. Some good old Dave Tate lifting smarts will get ya where you're going. What a travesty this is.

  • @sr19 It doesn't matter. A biomechanical advantage with better technique will build better more strength!

  • I heard two peices of advice and both of them are wrong.

    1. EVERY powerlifter arches their back, They do this to spread out the load among differnt muscle groups allowing them to lift more.

    2. Powerlifting is about getting as much weight as possible from point A to point B in the bench, deadlift, and squat, going lighter is never the point unless you are doing a warm up set.

    Once again horrible advice from a very confused person.

  • This video is completely wrong. Powerlifters always arch their backs when benching (it's standard technique so you have more drive with your legs). Second, it's more than obvious that guy is not a powerlifter because his elbows are too far out. Because his back isn't arched, he can't pull his shoulder blades together. Hence the crappy elbow placement.

    His form is ALL WRONG for a powerlifter.

    Ergo, your video sucks.

  • this vid is total crap, powerlifters arch their back, drive with legs, and hit their upper abs with the bar and tuck their elbows in...the exact opposite of this video lol

  • Sorry, but this is terribly wrong, especially for a video titled "Powerlifting Techniques". Powerlifters lift with their back arched. The GLUTES should stay on the bench, yes, but the back should not be flat.
