the battle. Statistics and knowing the players are also very important if you really want to take commentating seriously and want to be the commentator idol and good times to bring those up are at the beginning and in some cases can be used for post game commentary.

Basically the commentators who can get all of this together even if they do not win commentator idol will get a nice fan base.

Color is very important and is the reason why people that aren't currently playing Starcraft watch these videos. I haven't played Starcraft for three months and I am still watching these videos.

You have to fit color in but fit it in at the right times. Klazart is the ultimate example of how he fits color in at perfect times. He tells most of his stories at the start, when there is not much action going on, and is able to highlight battles color without going off topic from...

Now as a Protoss player I am not going to comment on the TvZ incidence, but I will compare it to losing a shuttle with reavers in it. If you lost that are you going to talk about upgrades? You must highlight the events and definitely the could be turning points of the game.

This is so great Chill from team liquid. You know your stuff but how are people considering you pro when you lost badly to me before, but with that aside you definitely hit some key points.

Commentator knowledge is important otherwise you miss very important analysis. If you can't summarize the basics then you can't analyze what is going on and can't really go into great detail.

If you don't know basic build orders or a few alternatives then you won't be able to analyze...

This seems kind of weird to me, because what's the point of watching top-level Starcraft games without understanding it in the first place?

I personally wish for an English commentator who can point out things I personally miss when I watch a game. Because that will add to my own personal enjoyment. But if it's just humor, although it may be funny the first time, it gets old quickly.

I kinda liked Peanut's comments on why the hate for geeks. It irked me when I heard Kenny say it so I can understand her comments. I guess Chill was just too happy for someone who he thinks played the game commentating since he didn't comment on how the replay bar was there in Kenny's vids like he did for the other commentators before Kenny.

He obviously wasn't really paying attention to my video, because most of what he accused me of simply didn't happen in my cast (or it did happen but he said it didn't). I think mrsmi1eys (your) most fatal mistake was the game choice, points to chill for pointing that one out correctly. First of all, TvT is a mirror build. The three distinct races is one of the most important aspect of sc. Secondly it was a long game. This becomes a problem when you wan't too ecxite people and lure them into voting for you. Thirdly it was a pretty booring game!

mrsmiley, unit composition is important, but you got it the wrong way around. Let's face it, this was TvT; China's not going to win because he has vultures. Pure tanks would typically beat the mixed force of China, but since they charged into tank fire and all the wraiths and dropships were sniped, that obviously didn't happen. That's why Chill said you should focus on tactics, not unit composition.

Honestly, you should trust Chill on this one.

Chill and Rise usually give intelligent feedback on important aspects of commentating such as technical knowledge and highlighting the commentator's strengths. I think what people are sick of hearing is "you shouldn't say that cuz it's bad." and no other useful feedback, the political correctness that too many obsess over. it's understandable that it's all you have to add to most of this, but an opinionated judge has to be comfortable taking a little of what they dish from viewers.
