Had one, but my jealous hearted brother gave it to charity behind my back and I've been scarred for life ever since! It was my first computer back in the early 80's while studying computer science and I LOVED it... *sobbing inconsolably* Thanks for sharing yours...

I found a Portable 286 (101710) "Gold Plates" on Craig's list. It has some memory errors though. I'll try to fix it, I think its bank U25 that's bad.

This was my first ever computer. My mom got one for word processing after Win 95 machines were had become commonplace. But we were poor so we had to make do. I remember being so amused as a kid watching the BIOS count all 640K of RAM and then listening to the hard disk seeking as DOS came up. I loved playing Prince of Persia and Lemmings, and a Nethack clone. I don't think that it came with built in sound, but it did eventually get a SoundBlaster card. Thanks for the memories! :)

hey i dug up a compaq computer just like this one with a "Hard Card+20" and it boots up and it gives me an error message that says "PARITY CHECK 1" can someone help me please i really love this computer and would like to get it running again. :)

I have 2 "compaq portable 286" computers just like that, if you want them let me know, one has a hard drive (30mb I beleive) and one has 2 floppies (5.25").

Ah, MS-DOS 3.3, the first version of DOS to support 3-1/2" floppy disk drives. Gotta love it!
