@AfKman101 No, they don't. The way the rifle works the bolt carrier actually recoils back into the stock where a large spring then returns it, stripping the next round out of the mag and into the chamber.
@CelticSouthland so true. i've had to come here to learn properly. NCO's don't have the patience to teach you, and generally, they haven't been taught themselves.
@CelticSouthland more than half of the people who enter basic training have never fired a weapon in their life. The military most certainly does teach you how to shoot.
@DreamVertigo that handguard is a product of clark custom guns in princeton louisiana. i know because i make them myself they are very light and absorb heat well
Does this apply only to sport, or to military as well? I've heard that soldiers and marines should square themselves to a target to present the plates and avoid the 'heart shot' through the armpit.
@Hyperpulsehammer I think it all depends on the situation. I'm sure at further ranges they would want to use the stance Jerry was talking about for increased accuracy. Up closing in room clearing they would square themselves.
What type of scope is that?

The Military don't teach anybody to shoot.
The Military gives you the impression that you have learned how to shoot.
Anyone in the Military that does know how to shoot learned it some place else.
