@t3super60W The gold plating will definitely withstand the heat. As for abuse, most metal is susceptible to abrasion. Also the more the gold is handled the faster it will wear off. There are ways of protecting it with lacquers or something similar, but if the rifle is used a lot it will wear off in time. If it's rifle that isn't used often, a gold finish would look nice for a long time.
I'm very interested in plating, I have a lot of brass rings with gold & rhodium plating that have tarnished. Can I "replate" my jewelry with a plating pen? Thanks in advance.
@DJCRE8IVESTYLES Thanks for your inquiry. With jewelry the method of plating somewhat varies case by case. For tarnished metal, the surface has to be polished to a shiny finish or it will look bad. What ever the surface looks like before plating, will reflect the same finish after plating. If you can get the surface looking good, you certainly can replate your jewelry. I would however recommend our JewelMaster if you have a larger amount you need done. Brush plating jewelry takes more time.
@cincinatus90 The gold content varies depending on the type and size of gold solution you are purchasing. People often wonder about gold content and how it relates to how much plating can be done with their solution. Coverage is detailed on the product info section for each of our solutions. For example, an 8 oz jar of 24K Brush Gold solution has enough gold to cover 1200 square inches to a typical decorative thickness!
@goldplatingservices hi i am very intrested in gold plating some items , i saw the video and saw the website AND like the goldsmith . i just wanted to know . when i buy the device dose it come with everything , where do i get the gold . can i use other gold items to use? ive nver done this so i dont know how it works, please help . i need prices and information on how this works,
@hanghoodiescum My cousin did that. The only problem she said she had was that it was slightly harder to get it in now, but that now she feels really extravagant.
@gatorneck305 When you do the plating yourself, the cost of the gold is about $.05/square inch. The gold that is included with the kit will do ~300 square inches. We charge about $3/square inch for polishing and plating. So for certain projects it is definitely worth it to buy a kit and do it yourself. Where as some people would rather pay us to do it to save time, or have no need for a kit so it's worth it to have us do it.
Can this be done on tarnished gold plated expensive watches? Will the plating damage the dial or internal mechanism? I also have tarnished 10k gold jewelry that is tarnished. Will it restore the gold plating on these 10k tp 14k gold plated jewellery?
@SuperModerngranny The plating will visually mimic the surface on which it's applied. Also it must be a conductive surface for the electro-chemical reaction to take place. Tarnished metal must be buffed or the tarnishing removed, prior to plating. It won't just cover over the tarnishing. The dial will not be affected; as for internal components, you should avoid the solution from coming in contact these parts. 10k, 14k, 18k, 24k, all can be restored, but the surface needs to be prepared.
$399 includes everything you need to use the equipment. This also includes 2oz of our 24K Gold solution. In the electroplating industry, you are able to fairly charge $50-$100 per job (Even if its something as simple as a coin; most entrepreneurs in the electroplating field have a $30-$50 minimum charge). So it only takes a few interested people to get your initial investment of the equipment back to you. The consistency, reliability, durability, and technical support are also invaluable.
How about using this on plastic styrene models? I would probably reinforce them with resin. What kind of paint should be used to make the surfaces conducive, but not sacrifice the surface details?
@L0lzer0 Yes, such as Chalices' and Ciborias'... As part of the ceremony they must be gold plated. That's just a couple examples of religious items that need electroplating. "According to the existing law of the Church the chalice, or at least the cup of it, must be made either of gold or of silver, and in the latter case the bowl gold plated on the interior. In the event of economic hardship the chalice may be made of pewter but the chalice cup must be gold plated."
@volcomkidd555 Its hard to give an accurate guess on the amount of time plating will last; there are too many unknown factors included. Although, people who wear their gold plated jewelry daily that have had their plating done by us, generally send it back to us to have it "touched up" about once a year. We apply nearly as thick of layer as possible, and if we do the plating on your jewelry, we will do touch up re-plates for free. This free offer is only offered given normal wear has occured.
I want to gold plate a trim around my phone. but i dont want to take the phone apart, what kinda kit and machine would i need to do this work? also, how can i apply thicker coats in order for it to last longer, and how long would one coat last if a phone is frequently used in and out of the pocket all the time? and do you machines come with all the liquids already or is the liquid sold seperately?
@nickt916 Doing plating on phones without dis assembly can be difficult, but is definitely possible, and frequently done. The kit I would recommend for this would be the Universal Plater we offer. Although, buying the kit to just do one phone would not be the cheapest route. You apply thicker coats by simply plating it for longer periods of time. I'd recommend a protective coat be put on after plating for protection of the gold. Liquids are included in all kits, and sold separately as well.
@nickt916 There is multiple different protective coats you could choose to use. The product I would probably recommend is the ZAGG Invisible Shield. Here on YouTube search this exactly: 'ZAGG Invisible Shield Video Review at CES Unveiled'. Watch that video and you'll see the reason I'd recommend a protective coat. Good luck.
@nickt916 Aluminum needs to be plated with a zincating and nickel plating process prior to gold plating. We sell the nickel and gold solution, but we do not sell the zincate material. Aluminum is the one metal that is extra tricky, and requires the most pretreatment.
@goldplatingservices do you you know where i can possibly get some zincate stuff? i have been dying to try aluminum, i heard its tricky and doesnt turn out perfect if not done properly, its a challenge i have been wanting to try for a while, but cant find any zincate anywhere, as long ask i can get some zincate then ill try to buy some nickel and gold stuff from you guys and hopefully learn the process.
@nickt916 We have had multiple requests as of recent for a zincate solution. We have began developing a solution and list of instructions to make Zincating accessible to our customers. Currently, i'm uncertain as to where you can get a zincate solution. We are in avidly developing a solution, and a consistently successful process this week. If you will give us a few days and send us an e-mail about it; we will probably have a solution for you. Thanks
@goldplatingservices thank you, i would be interested once its available, my email is NickT916@yahoo.com please email me some info, or email me when i should contact you again to get an update. thank you
@6uNf1r3 If you could take pictures of it and post it to our facebook page we would love to see the results! We have never attempted a ps3 controller and would enjoy seeing how it turned out.
@InsidiousBo That's a frequently asked question. The surface must be conductive, however; most chrome plated automotive emblems are made of plastic. During the original manufacturing a conductive surface was applied to the plastic. Virtually any item that has been chrome plated can be easily gold plated no matter what it's made out of.
What is the problem/difference with a dipping solution? I have seen one on ebay made by medallion care that appears to work well but is there a difference between this and that?
@jbiz0 There is a major difference between the electroless dip kits and electroplating. Electroless application only applies a very thin (like 1 molecule thick) layer of gold to very conductive metals; that is the thickest the process will even allow. With electroplating, you can plate very thick 24k gold, and it's much more versatile. To legally sell something as "gold plated" it has to be a certain thickness, and electroless will not ever achieve that thickness.
@3dsmaxmaster We will gladly send you all the chemicals you need. Also, we offer the most efficient and affordable gold solution available. We have free technical support for any product we sell also. Give us a call at 8015466200.
does this make real gold chemicals into objects like a quarter, penny, pesos, ect. if so then would this put more money on objects, or this is no more than illegal
@sk8terbeginner91 I do not really understand your question. The chemical contains real gold, and it applies real 24k gold to the surface of metals. We have been in the electroplating industry for 20 years, and there is nothing illegal about it. If you gold plated money, and tried to deceive someone with it, that would be illegal. Does that answer your question?
Since there is no heat involved in the process, a soldering iron wouldn't be much more useful than a jury rigged Bic pen. Also you would need to buy the gold solution, a positive and negative lead, and other various other parts. You need consistently correct voltage and amp's, as this is a very important part of the process. The time involved in jury rigging a machine that may or may not work wouldn't be worth the small amount of money you would save. This kit very efficient at low cost.
@goldplatingservices why do you say it as if i have not allready built it? i built it from a sauldering iron from seriors and my dads old "gun" style sauldering iron. It still works. I understant the idea of the kit, but what is wrong with the electro dipping systems? you say they are cheep. that fist my budget just right
If that works for you, great! In the video we are referring to "electro-less"(not electrical) dipping systems. They are often compared to "electroplating"(electrical plating) dip kits, which we sell. The electro-less dipping kits that you see for $40 are not electroplating at all. With the electro-less dip kits you see on TV, it's impossible to plate something with enough gold to legally call the item "gold plated". The two items being compared are incomparable. Use what works best for you.
@goldplatingservices im thinking of replacing my current system, i have looked around and i believe this product will suite my needs, however, i have one question, can it plate cables? And can it do a professional job at it?
@ZILOGz80VIDEOS Yes, you can plate cables and would do a professional job. If you could give us more details about what size and type of cables you're wanting to plate, we can help you get set up appropriately. How many are you wanting to do? What type of metal are they? and what are the dimensions of the cables? Thanks
This kit; which includes everything you need, and 2 ounces of gold solution is $399. With the gold solution included you can make much more than the cost of the kit, by doing a few electroplating jobs.
