I love this show but am surprised that anyone is taking the banter and trash-talk seriously. To me, people on this show seem to be having fun and are 25 notches above any other reality show contestant I have ever seen in terms of civility and being respectful to each other. It seems like they are not stressing the competitive aspect because no one thinks they can really win. This show is fun and I recommend it to anyone.
@spareparts2004 I think the show is more about improving yourself rather than showing off your talents. It brings a bit of humility to the contestants. I like that.
"Please open.. hurry up!" Lol that's what I would do too!! Talk to my clams;) Seriously. "Yes! Thank you! Little Clammy I love you!":))) I like this guy^_^
hardrockale..your a bitch..cant u let people try and learn with out the smartass remarks from your crap mouth. what the hell does the way they look make any Difference to this educational experiance ...WTF to you!, asshole....if you was in my class or around me...I'd throw hot oil on your face and laugh while you burn...Karma hasa way of getting those who are UGLY... and your time is coming....No-good-filthy-pond-Rat from Hell!!!!
i consider myself an experienced cook. anne is actually one of my favorite chefs and i learn lots from her show. but some of the things they criticize these BEGINNERS for is pretty advanced stuff and i find myself wondering, would i be able to do this? am i one of the worst cooks in america? lol
@hodgrix True, but it's hard to compare yourself with them since it's like advanced boot camp. Kind of like throwing them in the deep end of the pool after showing them how to swim a bit.
I kind of agree with the chefs, though; these dishes don't really seem that hard to make. I mean, it's not like they're teaching them how to make risotto, lol. That would be a nightmare on day one. But blanching, sweating and making a broth is totally doable. The finer details are what would worry me a little.
This is the type of show where you feel like such an asshole for liking this show because these people try SO HARD... but yet, you wonder... HOW could they screw up THIS much?
I cannot believe the way she just threw all that saffron in there! so wasteful and she had been told how expensive it was. Maybe they should have been informed that it's actually 8 thousand dollars a kilo and generally sold in one gram packs.
This is like the poor bastard child of hells kitchen and master chef........ but i guess its not as bad as kitchen impossible or what ever that crap is
@canyoutriplikeido I agree totally. Seems they could start them off with something a bit easier, since they know they have limited skills and knowledge. I feel sorry for the contestants sometimes, because they seem to want to learn, and they try really hard to to their best.
i always thought it would be funny to enter, make the worst thing possible.. like cook rice and burn the bottom then serve the bottom :P then win it later :P
I love how on these shows they have this dramatic music, like the contestants are trying to save the earth from destruction with only 45 seconds left!!!!!!!
The musical track is used to try and subconsciously keep the audience interested in whats happening on screen. Take it away, and even the people that are addicted to "reality" TV would find it boring. Because without it, the lack of actual entertainment value would show through in a lot of these shows. I believe the only real draw for this show is to laugh at the mistakes and shortcomings. Rather sadistic from an objective point of view.
This show is quite entertaining. I often wonder why people actually knowingly and willingly eat at McDonald's and KFC and such places. With cooking skills like this it isn't such a wonder.

Kinda cool - I like to think I'm a step above THESE cooks but I'm still learning a bit just by watching...
Gotta say, tho, I feel worse for the (moms &) people that are cooking for OTHER people more than the bachelors/ettes looking to score dates....

I am a fairly good cook, but this recipe seemed too complicated and weird for even an experienced cook. Just me.

@RedbeardNC yes, its actually "The Gayest Cooks in America" when the project was originally created. its ok, not many people knew that.
