  • Karate é karate ufc é ufc nao tem estilo melhor ou pior tem gosto e cada tem o seu !

  • Best striking technician in UFC: Machida

  • he makes it look easy....trust me its not....thumbs up, people need to realise karate is not this easy, hes just a freak. ive never asked for a thumbs up before. i need this one. people need to know.

  • @sbeel09 Ha hey I'm top comment I got a small 5 sec vid of one of my tournaments check it out. catch.

  • @MMA24x7 uhmmmmm good one ? get a new comeback book lol

  • i play both kyokushin and traditional (shotokan, wadokai).

kyokushin is power karate. if you want to be strong for a brief period, you should to learn kyokushin.

but shotokan is very deep. to learn traditional karate is to learn maai and timing. if you want to be more strong, you should to learn both.

  • @bngs1234 you play kyokushin??? and if you want control and focus you do Goju Ryu like mee lool

  • @RIPBurtonBoards no its not machida dry humps and is boring as hell and doesnt understand MMA

  • @gspbaby1 You're the one who obviously doesn't understand MMA (MIXED Martial Arts). If Lyoto Machida can win using his 'boring and evasive' style, then why should he be criticised? He's using an international platform to demonstrate his skills and to showcase his family tradition. I'm sure if you had the chance to show people how much you excel in a particular field, you'd take it - but unfortunately there isn't any narrow-minded, dick-head contests as far as I'm aware.

  • Lyoto is a great martial artist, and GSP studied kyokushin, and anderson studied taekwondo and muah thai. Lets be real honest, every GREAT competitor, started with the discipline and beauty of martial arts. All these "MMA" trained punks think they can throw down with skill and discipline, get knocked the fuck out.

  • those rasist bastards think only asian martial arts is true martial arts. dude Boxing, Kickboxing (Muay Thai), BJJ are all martial arts

  • @SenorCockblock agreed! the hell is wrong with them, its the same thing as asian marital art u learn respect and being humble through training and fighting, people think u only get that from asian fighting styles cuz they watched 2 many movies, but people who practice those martial arts that u mention most of them when they come in are assholes so it kinda ruines the image of those sports/fighting styles cuz it seems it attracts assholes

  • @SenorCockblock muay thai is asian... and brazilian jiu jitsu is just an asian art adapted in the country of brazil

  • It's karate shotokan!!! machida has black belt and his father too!

  • qual esse estilo?

  • @thejoker48478 : Shotokan. Abs.

  • caught him square in the chest with a Mae Geri...and boy was that a beauty.

  • whut what

  • 1991 wars in!!

  • machida should learn jet kune do!! i guess that a great help with him in the ring!! possessing jet li's power is a great idea!!^_^

  • the only reason machida is were he is now is because he knows bjj, boxing and a small amount of wrestling takedowns........the karate is good for being elusive and unpredictable...........im a black belt in karate and i know becasue karate isnt that effective by itself, but when you know other stuff as well then its a good mix!

  • @clokedbigman Then you haven't learned a good form of Karate, or have not taken it to heart. If you actually learned it and weren't simply taught, and know the difference between the two words, you would understand that traditional martial arts incorporate almost everything, even traditional Jujutsu etc.

  • @Nezeni look man hollywood magic alone will not protect you!

    ENOUGH SAID

  • @clokedbigman if u know karate isent effective why did u becombe a black belt?

  • @xbigxevilx because my parents wanted me to continue

  • "the only reason machida is were he is now is because he knows bjj, boxing and a small amount of wrestling takedowns"

Apparently you haven't seen many of Machida's fights. His Karate style is VERY noticeable. Yes, Machida is definitely the exception, but you cannot deny his Karate is what sets him apart from an average MMA fighter. It clearly defines the way he fights in the octagon.

  • @Ljenkins9000 yes...but nobody realy studied him when preparing to fight him....basicly people underestimated him...........now people are getting the rythm and beating him such as shogun and rampage

he is a verry good fighter....but if he was to come into the ufc with out boxing/muay thai/bjj/wrestling....he wouldnt have came far

if you were to take a pure karate black belt vs an mma fighter...the mma dude would win for sure

  • Rampage? Rampage got his ass kicked and the judges gave it to him. Even Rampage admitted he clearly lost the fight. But yes everything else you say is true.

"if you were to take a pure karate black belt vs an mma fighter...the mma dude would win for sure"

Of course they would. Just like if you put a pure Muay Thai guy or a pure boxer against an MMA guy, they would lose. All of this was done 20 years ago. It does not take away from the fact that Karate sets Machida apart from others.

  • @Ljenkins9000 nobody was mma a long time ago and it was clear that muay thai and bjj/ wrestling prevailed

no karate guys that i know of made it to the championship till machida

lol even dana said rampage won....so....im sure its just a fanboy thing to think machida won

you dont win a fight by throwing a barage of punches for about 10 seconds only, you win it by winning all 3 rounds....and rampage clearly won 2 out of the 3 rounds

  • "no karate guys that i know of made it to the championship till machida"

You don't know much about MMA. There's been quite a lot of Karate guys, but they were mostly Kyokushin Karate guys. Roughly 40% of K1 fighters are Karate guys. Kyokushin fighters have also regularly been beating Muay Thai guys for the past 70 years or so. You see Muay Thai more in MMA because it's more popular in the US and Brazil. On top of that there are some notable few top MMA guys who do other forms of Karate.

  • "you dont win a fight by throwing a barage of punches for about 10 seconds only, you win it by winning all 3 rounds....and rampage clearly won 2 out of the 3 rounds"

Lol. If you actually watched the fight, Machida actually landed the most strikes in all three rounds. The only thing Rampage had on Machida was he took him down twice while Machida took Rampage down once. Both times Machida got right back up. When Machida took Rampage down he dominated him the rest of the round.

  • @Ljenkins9000

Rampage was also the aggressor for most of the fight, but that was a bullshit decision. Machida was robbed.

  • @SkyrimOwns Agreed. I think it has more to do with the Boxing Commission handling the judging of UFC fights. They give points for take downs even if you did nothing with it and the guy gets back up. Kinda like how Rampage got two takedowns but Machida got right back up. Machida got one and stayed on top dominating for the rest of the round. Rampage scored more points, lol.

  • @Ljenkins9000 in real life a take down can end the fight... real life doesn't have tatames.

  • @Voyksed Yes I understand.

  • @SkyrimOwns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Ljenkins9000

    Everything you said is true.

  • "no karate guys that i know of made it to the championship till machida"

Holy shit. So you've never heard of Bas Rutten, Guy Mezger, Chuck Liddell, George St-Pierre, Takanori Gomi, Frank Mir, Vitor Belfort, Yuki Kondo, Katsunori Kikuno, Rory Markham, Jeff Joslin, Seth Petruzelli, Ryo Chonan, Semmy Schilt, Sam Greco, Jeff Newton, Shonie Carter or David Loiseau?!??

    Really? I can keep going...

  • @Ljenkins9000 Agreed and I want you to keep going. LOL!!!!

  • @FreekyDeeky21 Lol. I don't even do karate. I actually just started Muay Thai and have been doing BJJ for a few years, but I do realize you gotta give respect where it's due.

  • @clokedbigman By the way, can you please tell me where you got the idea that putting 3 or more periods in between your sentences without spaces is correct? Did you start doing it because you saw other people doing it? I see this all over the internet and it is annoying as hell. It makes you look kinda dumb. Just put one period followed by one or two spaces. Like this. Not.....This...

  • @clokedbigman Oh and Machida never learned Boxing. If he did, he might not have eaten that punch from Shogun that KO'd him.

  • @Ljenkins9000 no shogun is a muay thai master and even though muay thai is known for kicks.....they are equal with punches

  • "even though muay thai is known for kicks.....they are equal with punches"

Stop separating your sentences with periods. It makes you look stupid. One period only, then one space, then your next sentence.

  • @Ljenkins9000 get a life

  • @humby49 Go fuck yourself. If you disagree with anything I said, say it. Don't try to insult me.

  • the same idiots that complain about machida not getting hit, also complained about brandon vera giving up once his face got smashed!

  • martial arts are all about get hit as little as possible and doing as much damage to your opponent as possible brawling is not a martial art its just fighting recklessly and those guys never usually have 15-1 pro mma records

  • @sirmiklo street brawls are people who have no training whatso ever.....so i dont even know where to begin saying that no friggin dur its not a martial art they dont know shit........lol every martial art even boxing(even though boxing is more of a sport) they train you to cover up... not get hit, nobody wants to get hit andeveryone wants to cause damage...........so your karate is no different that the teqniqe learned from each

  • @clokedbigman the footwork in karate is different than in muay thai and so is the keeping hands down and punching from the hip, there is alot in karate that other arts dont have but it didnt make machida an mma champion being well rounded did NO FRIGGIN DUR

  • @sirmiklo thats why i said karate is no different besides the the teqniqe learned from each

  • the point of karate is not to get hit coz you dodge and hit back or you block and hit

  • Was that it? shits gay!!

  • Why Machida gets heat for not standing in front of punches is beyond me. Your not suppose to stand in front of a punch. All the mainstream fans want to see is two guys standing in front of each other throwing and taking wild punches. Thats not martial arts, thats stupidity. Yeah its entertaining sometimes, but that involves no technique or skill, just idiocy. Too bad Dana White encourages fighter to do that, its degraded the sport.

  • @Joemaster25

you are a fucking retard..... KARATE RULES!!!

  • Machida is a beast

  • so fã do Lyoto luto karate mas meu sonho é ser uma lutadora tipo ele

    cara so tua fã

  • Lyoto is the only fighter in the ufc to really understand what martial arts is.

  • @Solnastad1891 thumbs up

  • @Solnastad1891 You must only have been a fan of MMA a few weeks when you posted this. lol

  • @Solnastad1891 I totally agree with you.

  • @Solnastad1891 haha. why cuz he does karate? get a grip dude.

  • @Solnastad1891 GSP is 3rd degree black belt in karate frank mire is black belt karate chuck liddel is a karate style fighter and there are many others that are black belts in traditional martial arts before they were UFC fighters might wana thing before you post something as ignorant as that statment

  • @Solnastad1891 GSP is 3rd degree black belt in karate frank mir is black belt karate chuck liddel is a karate style fighter and there are many others that are black belts in traditional martial arts before they were UFC fighters might wana thing before you post something as ignorant as that statment

  • @Solnastad1891 and anderson silva and geogres st. pierre dont??????????

  • @Solnastad1891 You're an idiot

  • @Solnastad1891 Well that, like most generalizations just isn't true.

  • @Solnastad1891 I'm a huge Lyoto fan, but I disagree.

  • @Solnastad1891 Na, Gsp, Silva,

  • @Solnastad1891 the ONLY fighter? Are you stupid?

  • @VomitShovel hes just a gay fanboy

  • @Solnastad1891 no man i see your point but there are a few i mean come on

  • @Solnastad1891

So what is martial arts then?

Please Elaborate . Just curious not attacking.

  • @Solnastad1891 lol tell that to Shogun.

  • Comment removed

  • @xxafijrxx

Why would he tell that to guy who got his title shot as gift and hasn't had a single relevant win in the UFC, other than Lyoto Machida? Also, winning a fight doesn't necessarily mean you "understand" the martial arts.

  • @Solnastad1891

BULLSHIT. Nearly ALL the fighters in the UFC really understand what martial art is.

Lyotto is in my top 5 fighters though.

  • @Solnastad1891 lol WTF ? you must not watch it cuz he is a boring ass fighter who doesnt figth he runs and lands a punch everyround and a takedown the real MMA fighter is Cain Velasquez bitch

  • @gspbaby1 yeah, because real men like to get punched in the face right? you don't understand the purpose of martial arts.

  • @ghostdancer1984 lol yes i do if you think running around is martial arts its not heres a few MMA fighters Thiago Alves George St Pierre Anderson Silva Cain Velasquez Jose Aldo Dominick Cruz

  • @gspbaby1 you've completely missed the eastern philosophy behind the martial arts that mma has borrowed from. kumite, even ufce styled kumite, is too maintain ones skills. the purpose of all martial arts starts at self defense. it doesn't matter if it looks boring, as long as it works.

  • @Solnastad1891 and you can imagine how many fools say that he is a "coward" bla bla ...

  • i find machida very entertaining watching him is like watching a chess match he's so technically superior to most of his opponents its not even funny... he's going to pick rampage apart it won't even be a fight

  • what happen? did Lyoto win?

  • How He Rarely gets hit amazes me...

  • lyoto's kick was surely in! because the bald guy tried to block it but he swinged his arms so lyoto's kick went in with ease

  • Are they fighting or dancing?

  • @Daputaka

A least there doing more then your lazy ass

  • @Joemaster25

no you do, and so does your mom. She sucks the cum right outta of my dick and it feels good.

  • @Joemaster25 so does your mom.... KARATE RULES...!! haha

  • Whoa, Karate where you can strike to the head?

    Do want.

  • machida is cute

  • Man, Shotokan karate is so fun to watch. How could anyone not love the speed of those reverse punches that Alexandro throws.? And, damn, Lyoto is good at karate. Even after lengthy sabaticals

  • Isn't he Lyoto's brother????

  • these r 1 point victory matches, i assume, with the first person to land a clear and decisive blow is the winner

  • @ImTooDammFunny

possibly, but it could also be a 3 point game, that's how the tournaments work up here work at least.

  • @ImTooDammFunny well it looks like for this fight they did one video per point, but usually its whoever has more pts at the end of 2 minutes or win by 8, thats how mine work, and thats how they work at the panamerican games

  • holy shit did you see at the 18 sec mark that bald guy threw some of the fastest punches iv ever seen only lyoto could dodge that shit personally i would have been rocked by 6 or 7 fast ass karate puches ass from that guy!

  • the guy was dazed after that nice kick

he almost fell, very well timed shot

  • to say a fighter is a karate guy a jiu jitsu guy or kickboxing guy or whatever isn't exactly true anymore. it may be what they started out doing but for any of these fighters to compete at a high level they have to be mixed martial artists. if they were just karate or jiu jitsu guys or whatever, they wouldn't make it very far in the sport.

  • Well, GSP then and Lyoto then. By the way is Kempo not a form of Karate, I always heard of it as Kempo Karate. Just wandering.

  • Not officially recognized by any karate federation but kenpo or kempo is a form of karate.

  • Arrr right I see.

  • Ok my comment was out of line but can you see my side lol.

  • sanbon for sure bitches...

  • Haha just no Choggy, Karate sucks, is that why the world champ is a Karate practitioner. Dumb fucker. If you look at all the top fighters most of them came from karate background, Lyoto, GSP, Liddell

  • @Tyked1 lidell took kenpo not karate

  • Your Ass. Karate is one deadly technique same as mui thai or taekwondo. Asian techniques brother. Not White ass brawl fight lmao

  • or better yet why not just stand still, dont move and take turns punching each other in the head.

    sound familiar??

thats the problem with every one in America every one is to drunk, high or just plain to stooped

god bless you intelligent ones i dont know how you can stand it

  • "stooped?" seriously? you are the retard if you can't spell the word "stupid." and generalizing most Americans as stupid drunk people shows your incredible lack of maturity. Usa invented youtube. And the internet. You're welcome, bitch

  • just for you idiots complaining about machida not taking any hits

here is a clue, you are not suppose to! the fact that your being hit means you have a chance of losing the fight! what the hell do you think bobbing and weaving is for in boxing!? duh its so you dont get knocked the fuck out! retards.

martial arts is not about entertainment, its about self defense. (defend your self = dont get hurt) if you want entertainment go watch a kung fu movie.... Dumb fucks.

  • well said sir

  • @NakhitX i agree, machida has the most elusive style out there right now beside anderson silva...... i believe machida and anderson silva are only few martial artists that are in UFC..... along with others such as bj penn, etc, etc

  • "i believe machida and anderson silva are only few martial artists that are in UFC"

    .

WTF? Please explain how the other fighters who have spent years and years honing martial arts skills are not martial artists?

  • @Ljenkins9000 The fact that Machida and Silva have honor and conduct themselves like true martial artists separates themselves from the crowd. (gsp would also be in this category). Theres no flipping ppl off and being disrespectful ala Tito Ortiz/Brock Lesnar. If you were a student of any martial art you would understand this.

  • @getupkid86 Lol oh so the way Silva dances around mocking his opponents for a whole 5 fucking rounds is the character of a martial artist ur talking about? He's the most disrespectful guy in the UFC today. Give me a fuckin break. UFC fighters in general are among the most respectful fighters in the world. How often do you really see two guys come out and not touch gloves, not hug each other after the fight or not apologize for stuff like accidental groin shots? Never. Unless its Silva or Lesnar.

  • @getupkid86 You obviously don't watch boxing either. Listen to the shit their top fighters talk before fights. Look at everything that has to do with Floyd Mayweather. Then watch UFC. I don't know where the fuck you're getting this character bullshit from. Btw, I've been training for almost ten years, dick.

  • Boxers act like fools because its primarily an American sport with an American mentality. Most martial arts are rooted in Asian cultures such as Japanese and Thai. Bowing to your opponent before and after the fight is a show of respect.Being humble is a very key philosophy.Gloating, giving the finger and overall being a jackass is unthinkable.

  • "Boxers act like fools because its primarily an American sport with an American mentality."

This is a giant crock of shit that is both ignorant and racist. Modern boxing was invented in England in the 1800s and is practiced all over the world today. Most boxers today are actually central American, as Americans are all turning to MMA.

  • "Most martial arts are rooted in Asian cultures such as Japanese and Thai. Bowing to your opponent before and after the fight is a show of respect. Being humble is a very key philosophy."

This is also found in Boxing, Wrestling and MMA via a handshake or touching gloves before fighting, which is the cultural equivalent to bowing.

  • "Gloating, giving the finger and overall being a jackass is unthinkable."

Watch more combat sports. You will find this in the international competition between Sanda, Muay Thai, Kyokushin Karate and TKD. The Chinese, Japanese, Thais and Koreans are not below this. Believe it or not, they are normal human beings like the rest of us, too, and to think otherwise is a little fucked up on your part.

  • @Ljenkins9000 I was in karate for a number of years, obtained my black belt, became a national karate champion (WKA) and forth in the world (WKA). Every opponent I've ever fought (talented or not) I show the up most amount of respect for. How one treats others shows the true character of a man.

  • "Every opponent I've ever fought (talented or not) I show the up most amount of respect for. How one treats others shows the true character of a man."

As has everybody I've ever competed with (in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and American Kenpo). I've also trained at an MMA place, and despite me going in there with a strange stereotypical idea of how they were going to be, they were all just as respectful and kind. (continued)

  • (continued) I'm going to guess that maybe your problem is you think bowing and hand-shaking are not equivalent in respectfulness, and you're perhaps a bit of a Japanophile (like a lot of white people). Being a westerner yourself, you need to realize that bowing means something very different in our culture than in theirs. It was more of a courtly, ultra-respect thing to do. To the Asians however, it's more of a handshake.

  • @NakhitX who rattled your cage?

  • @NakhitX Very nicely put.

  • @NakhitX well said! ppl dont understand man

  • avshaman it was blocked...but from the referees point of view, it looks solid. if anything, i would give points to machida's right follow up lounge punch

  • @kuyaalito

If you think that last roundhouse (turn kick) was blocked, look again. It came in under the opponent's block and hit solidly. 2 points.

  • brazilllll

  • i like lyoto but that last roundhouse was blocked. NO POINT !

  • did you see how machida blocked alll those punches

  • Wing Chun, Yong Chun boxing has a strong influence on Shorin (Shaolin) karate. Shorin karate is the father of Shotokan karate. The principles are the same, even though the styles are different.

  • It is refreshing to see honor and respect at this level of competition particularly because there is so little of it these days in sport fighting. Lyoto and his family have brought the old ways back. Greatest tai sabaki and strategy I've ever seen in the mma. Thanks.

  • @StaceAce01

    what exactly is sport fighting?

and i was reading about a guy name raymond daniels who fights in sport fighting events or whatever and gets paid for winning tittles and so on is that normal?

  • sport fighting is literally any form of controlled fighting (boxing and mma mainly) eg. pride, ufc, k1, wlc etc are all televised sport fighting events. getting money for winning titles is perfectely normal in sport fighting, its how the fighters make a living.

  • didnt mean sport fighting lol sorry

    i meant sport karate

  • fighters who want to play a submission game... does that count too??? This isn't boxing, you don't HAVE to stand up and even in boxing elusive fighters do well... look at mayweather, its damned hard not to get hit in a 10 rounder but he does his hardest not to and is damned good because of it. Same thing with Anderson, everyone cries because he doesn't "put on a show", you only have to put on a show when your opponent forces you to, he EMBARASSED his last two oponents, not himself.

  • yea people who say take a hit or put on a show are the same people who think mma is just fighting and dont know or even pay attention to any (martial arts) and if there looking for a show should go watch wwe because (martial arts) isnt about putting on a show.....all though it does make for a good one haha

  • Anderson Silva puts on some of the most entertaining shows in the UFC... I guess you just don't understand martial arts enough to appreciate the skill.

  • getting hit is overrated. Why the hell should you go in a ring and take a punch when you can defeat your opponent without doing so. People always have something to complain about. First they say he's too elusive and just scores by points. Then he puts thiago and rashad to sleep in devastating fashion and makes ortiz's face look like a tomatoe and people say "ooooh he doesn't take any hits" wtf why should he? Isn't that partial why mma even exists? What about pure wrestlers and jiu jitsu

  • @xelad1 Lyoto is one of the few true martial artists in the UFC, many of the fighters just treat it like a sport and do it for the money. Lyoto is a martial artist, it carries through in all aspects of his life. To those people who bitch about him not taking hits, look at what happens to his opponents who take hits, they don't survive. Watching Machida evade his opponents attacks like they are moving in slow motion is way more entertaining than two morons standing there slugging each other.

  • @RJPBurtonBoards lol excellent point there brother

  • @RJPBurtonBoards

Again, bullshit!!! Nearly all the guys in UFC eat, sleep and shit martial arts. Its ALL they do.

Youre just a disrespectful asshole. Im sorry but its true.

  • @RJPBurtonBoards YYYYESSSSSSS!!!!!! I can't stand how it has become a goon fest.

  • @RJPBurtonBoards Damn fucking right!!! I totally agree with you, Machida is the only 'fighter' who uses his brain...

  • @BassaiDai123 bullshit dude there are plenty of fighters in the UFC that use there brain

  • @Rob919Gore Frankly I'd be astounded if you could name three that even have brains, let alone use them...

  • @BassaiDai123 Three fighters that use there "brains"..wether I like them or not.. lets see..Georges St. Pierre, Jon Jones and Shogun

  • Mastermation. anyone agree that this is the dumbest motherfucker probably to ever be on here. kids had one fucking mma fight and this he can talk down lyoto machida haha. and who the fuck takes a punch he just needs an excuse cuz he dosnt know head movement of footwork haha

  • I say we all get together and go find this guy after he gets out of class and pelt him with rubber pussies so that he would not feel like a lone pussy that he is. What an idiot.

  • Karate, no, martial arts in general is about bettering your self and staying true, thats exactly what Lyoto does, one of the greatest MMA and Karate-Ka I have seen in a loooong time

  • Mastermation you have no clue what mma is all about. And talking up anderson while talking down machida is just plain stupid. I don't remember the last time I saw Anderson take a hit he just is more cocky about how he evades the strikes

Also you should be ashamed to call yourself a fighter if you're gonna talk about one of the greatest the way you are.

  • lyoto is amazing, he has really mastered the art of karate. Good luck to him in all his future fights

  • i want to learn karate from lyoto.... eventhough looks coward.... but i don wan to get hit... that's a real self defence.... hit and not getting hit lol

  • lyoto is the shit. shogun is my fav fighter.. has been for the past 5 years or so... but this is going to be a war.. it will be a great fight.

  • great! Please upload more videos with machida competes in karate tournaments

  • take it easy
