I don't get how some people that call themselves "Opeth Fans" think Watershed was a disappointment...to me is FUCKING AWESOME!!! specially this song, Lotus Eater and Burden the classic ballad :)
But seriously i don't get how there's people that say this album sucks
@HateHumanity as an Opeth fan, I'm not necessarily disappointed, it was just different. I thought I was going to hear something different on Watershed. I definitely like it - it's a TON better than a lot of other stuff, but it's not Opeth's masterpiece (with MYYH and Still Life being the masterpieces)
This song is a masterpiece of all of Opeth's catalogue of masterpieces. As soon as I have finished watching this live, I immediately watch the same song again but in a different venue! A class opening tune ALWAYS!
@kmahl35 no, but the music is angry and foreboding nonetheless. and besides, metal is meant to awaken something inside of you and allow you to release it through whatever means you have. if you dont mosh to opeth, thats fine, because they have an incredible array of musical talent, but that doesn't mean its wrong or right
Eh...When I go to a show, I pump my fist and head bang. I can tell you It's funner than standing there motionless. There's nothing wrong with getting into the music your listening to. Especially when it's as energetic as metal
well i dont think that the iq issue matters...its just if you 're in the mood to shout and scream...and it isnt always bad...anyway Opeth kick ass there is no doubt about that :P
what MissAnthropy said, you come there to listen them, not other people shouting, or clapping hands in different tempo, or performing monkey like tricks. It isnt all about IQ, but think most of people with above average IQ know when is proper to shout or clap in right tempo for example. Think when ppl clap in different tempo when Opeth plays acoustic parts, big failure isnt it.
yes i know...i agree with you that you go there to listen to Opeth but you go there also to have fun...an experience that has something to add to the music you love...i m not the kind of people who shout and jump around but i understand that we are not all the same,it may be enough for us to listen to our favourite band live but others prefer to express a little more their feelings and i understand that, thats my only objection to your point of view
nope, Belgian crowds listen attentively, drink beer and smoke spliffs and simply enjoy the performance rather than shouting and screaming throughout the gig ;) ...
Thats ok, i totally agree with you, but personally I just cannot stand without moving, just listening to the music, music like THIS just makes me cant stay quiet!! heh
i was there too, let me post a video comment here, I was right on the other side; please ignore me and my brother screaming and singing like girls at a bonjovi concert :)
me too lol...were not hearing ballads lol...u have to jump and raise ur fists and headbang.....i really dont like moshing, it may SOMETIMES look kool but thats just ridiculous and also u may get hit and sometimes in unwanted places
I just love how the ending goes from total mayhem to the unified beautiful melody. For lack of a better description, it gives you that same feeling of closure like the music during the closing credits of a really good movie. Love this song! As a bass player, I really dig the fills the bass player does during all that too. Gorgeous!
haha, yeah... pretty much the only decent spot where I could get the entire stage captured. Didn't make much of an effort to make the 'shots' worth while since most of the balcony was trembling under the massive soundsystem, that's why there's bit of a focusing problem.
I noticed you filming the show from the other side of the hall on the balcony. I wondered how quality would be, I must admit it's much better than expected, especially for the audio!
The gig was great, maybe a bit too short, but it's nice to be able to see a part of it again.
Wow, the crowd sucks at keeping time.

Most of people who listen Opeth and understand Opeth have atleast IQ of 120, so that kind of crowd dont want to flop and jiggle like idiots.

maar ben wel blij dat ze niet te veel van het album gespeeld hebben (3 nummers van Watershed was het zeker?)
fantastisch optreden, volgende dat ze in België zijn ben ik er ook weer!
