When I visited Myoshinji temple complex I did not use Randen because that morning I walked from Ryoanji to Myoshinji and later walked south to Hanazono station. I reached Kyoto station by an old green and orange train (year 1999) and later Himeji by Shinkansen.
A wonderful day, full of good memories in your wonderful city!
Wow! I took this line 10 years ago, in 1999 from Hanazono to Kyoto station after a visit at Myoshinji temple complex!
Nice memories!!!
Thanks a lot for sharing!

Especially, around Nijo station became more convenient with the opening of a new subway line in 1997.
Maybe, when you visited to Myoshinji temple, did you take a train of Keifuku Railway (RANDEN)?

I see.
The train when you took from Hanazono to Kyoto is the Series 113.
The coloration of green and orange of JR (old JNR, Japan National Railways) is calld "SHONAN color".
This coloration dates back to 1950.
