WRONG!!! Where is the extra steel gated buckle that eliminates the slack from the belt?? None of the videos Ive seen on Youtube demonstrate the need for such a buckle (available at most auto stores for $6-10). You use the gaited buckle (sometimes called a 'converter' to link the 'lap' and 'over shoulder' sections of the belt together. I'm sorry I can't explain it any better in this comment - but PLEASE take your seat to a licensed installer - and watch closely so you can do it right next time.
Be weary of this procedure. I installed my Graco carseat base the same way she showed... Last night I went around a corner and it tipped over, with my baby in it!!! Luckily he's okay.
Notice the shoulder strap pulling up on the passenger side, making the seat want to tip in, towards the middle of the van.
She is a car seat technician. The only car seat tech at pocono medical center. The purpose of pushing down on the seat to lock the seat belt is so that it won't tip to a side from the pressure of the seat pushing up. In the event of a crash, better to have the belt already locked in position then allow the few inches of acceleration before the seatbelt locks. Or, if the infant is small enough, the belt won't lock in the event of a crash, which would end very poorly for the infant. It's bes
I am a car seat tech and I wouldn't use the method she used for a rear facing car seat. It will make the car seat lean to a side eventually. The seatbelt will continue to lock down over time and it isn't safe to have a child leaning to 1 side. Have you made an appointment with a car seat technician? Is she one?
