i know whites don't want to hear it but its white supremacy and institutionalized racism the blatant denying people of color equal rights and equal employment opportunities is the problem.eu sei que os brancos não querem ouvir isso mas eles tem muito a ver com isso por causa do rascimo.eles não estão tratado justo porque els são pretos, brasil deixe eles(os bandidos) pra vender drogas e matar na favela.
I've read many of these comments. This July, I visited with one of the favelas associated with AfroReggae. I am also a public school teacher in the United States, and I recognize that sometimes, the only way to reach people is through the arts. This leads to interest in school. So, the comments about the importance of education are well-intentioned, but ill-informed.
After spending a day and a half learing about affroregae setup at the southbank and what they are trying to do in the favela's of rio de janeiro, i must applaud the the incredible work that they are trying to do. If this interests you then please watch part 2.
A little more truth of the real differences. some still want to sell drugs, for those who dont, this is the option!
i never got how people thought there is power in music. music is not responsible for a person making a rational decision unless he was completely irrational and somehow nothing but a song could change his or her mind.
music is great but its not what people make it out to be in a romantic sense
I'm just aware that its the words and education that have the power not the musical notes placed behind it.
Sorry but nice guess even though it was "obvious I'm not a musician". I just don't hype it up to make myself sound like a freedom fighter, because i dont take people for idiots.
Just because you know a few notes and play mechanically does not make you an artist or a good musician.
And of course it is words and meanings behind the music that gives it the power. People will listen to a song with a meaningful message in it rather than listening to a political blowhard or reading some nut's angry rambling manifesto - even when they all convey the same message. That is the power of music. And music can make a difference.
AntiVenom, you do not know what you are talking about.
Why don't you do some research before you diss. The statistics show that AfroReggae cultural group has significantly reduced the number of children employed as drug traffickers in Vigario Geral. Similar programs have been implemented in other favelas with equally wonderful results.
all i see in your posts are opinions, with no facts OR life experience to back them up.
and i don't give a flying fuck that you play guitar.
i love how you fixated on my ability like thats what makes one understand. music is music, it used to be powerful before humans could educate themselves but now we have something that blows music away... its called education
maybe some need to be in a trance to get the message across but i feel others can be educated without using a pattern of musical notes to keep their attention.
david hasselhoff claims his music took down the berlin wall, hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
why? is it because its not something along the lines of "the world is a wonderful magical place" and "music is power, not the words or education, but the music is the power"
sorry but education and words are power, music is background noise to a powerful and educated message.
sorry if its not fluffy lovey dubby and full of rainbows like you expect.
I have been a music teacher in places that are not "fluffy" I can tell you-rather violent and dangerous. And I can tell you from experience that music can sometimes be the ONLY way to reach people in these areas because it is immediate and accessible.Have you ever worked amongst violent youth gangs in inner cities antivenom? If you have what methods did you find effective considering school has failed a lot of people from these backgounds
You may be a guitarist, but you have obviously never been a teacher in deprived and violent areas. If you were you would see how powerful a medium music can be for developing all kinds of skills.
when ur in pain u can still dance, and when ur sad music cheers you up. it would be easily proven that melodys and rhytms have a good influence on your neural transmissions if anyone cared. dont underestimate music, its the strongest tehre is in educating people.
The USA needs men like Anderson in its ghettos.

You are obviously no musician or have any love or appreciation for it.
Music is the universal language. Not technology, not political discourse, not complaining on You Tube.
Secondly, we are all humans - not Vulcans. A huge part of being human is to be irrational. That is why we have music, dance, poetry, love, etc...

And if music with social or political messages aren't your thing...then fine. It is okay.
What isn't cool is putting down those who do use their music as a medium to share their views on world.
