  • Why is the black guy even having to hold his umbrella? EEeeeesh.

  • Thats good our people made him aknowledge MLK day and where it was that happend, but he never gave a fuck about MLK untill he needs us, trien to make a statement or what ever the fuck he's tryna do fuck him before i new him fuck him know. (FUCK YOW MOMMA, CRACKERS OBMAMA!!!

  • i support mccain and i think this was a bit of a blooper for him. i respect mccain alot, his service to the country and all, and obama who i dont support is a smart man, they both though are flip flopping too much. what has politics come to

  • he's saying anything to get elected. mccain should explain why he voted against the holiday. that would be interesting.

  • moorlock2003 I agree with you! and yeah people he did apologize for voting against the holiday 7 times.. but not until he decided to run for president! hmmm... so what interpretation does that send?!

  • that was one of the lamest excuses i ever heard...if i was the guy holding that umbrella id smack him with it as soon as he said he voted against the day!

  • You were wrong then but now right because you want to win the votes of a demographic to be President. You were wrong for 7 years. Thats not the definition of wrong. Thats the definition of roten.

  • For African-Americans, There is God, then Jesus, then Martin Luther King.

  • McCain was one of several Republican politicians who kept voting AGAINST

having an MLK holiday----------for 7 years straight!

He's a bigot to the core!

  • MCCAIN made a mistake..but OBAMAS mistakes get spread all over the MEDIA

  • It's good to forgive inspite of, but don't vote for McCain, he was old enough to know better. This kind of behavior shows us who McCain really is. Isn't it ironic that he would admit his wrongness during the time he's running 4 president, but not before. He's lying.

  • that was the worst speech ever... so fake, so not sincere

  • It's kind of ironic that McCain has a black man holding an umbrella over his head while apologizing for being racist.

  • "It's kind of ironic that McCain has a black man holding an umbrella over his head while apologizing for being racist."

    re:

LMAO damn that is his house negro!

  • Where are the snipers when you need them?

  • To deny one of our greatest american heroes a special day...really shows his ignorance and biased.MLK faced more deadly opponets than John ever did.And Martin faced them in his own country...he could have been shot at ,at any time..he was aware that the FBI and the CIA can grt away with anything. Who is that brave in this country today? We should forgive McCain...but never forget...and never vote for him...He still doesn't "get it".

  • I am asking you to watch my video about holding patients in ER's. There are more and more patients not getting good care and for what reason. Please watch my video ER holding patients for information

    Jerry R Lucas RN

  • Explain why we are still in Iraq?? Wasn't it to "liberate" the Iraqi people from Saddam's "rape and torture rooms"?? Wasn't THAT one of the tear jerking propaganda selling points of the war with Iraq besides the non-existent WMDs??

No Saddam, We will Bomb Iraq into the stone age and take you over just to show that our KBR boys can torture, rape and kill more effectively! YEAH! DynCorp can torture thousands of people!!" Hello Guantanamo!

Way to kill for Halliburton you fascist bastards!!

  • Uh, Dr King was vehemently anti-war, not a hawk like Mcsame.

  • I'm sure he felt he must appoligize and own up to this before the media pointed it out. ........................Vote for McCain for 100 years more war! Vote for McCain if you want more of the same! BUSH=MCCAIN

  • The establishment chose McCain to insure a Democrat victory--can't upset the rotation--Rep>Dem>Rep>Dem

  • McInsane

  • this scumbag voted against MLK holiday twice and he has the nerve to make a speech at the place where MLK was killed??? WHAT THE FUCK

  • People make mistakes. Good greef. It was a different time, and not everyone was speaking the same voice. It doesn't make all those people bad people.

  • People make mistakes. Good greef. It was a different time, and not everyone was speaking the same voice. It doesn't make all those people bad people.

a different time that time was aroun the corner, as i read comments from various videos some whites dont care about time periods whenit comes to blacks,

  • you're just as big a fuckin idiot as mccain is, i can't wait for people like you to die off so racism will finally end, what do u mean different time period? Blacks we're treated like dirt and never compensated, America's still hesitant to even apologize for slavery. America turned its back on African Americans, and continue to do it...

  • wtf is u talking about im black lol.....

apologies arent necessary, because for themost part we dont know if they are sincere anyway...

  • I'm sure Africa will take you back with open arms. People like you choose to have a pity party instead of working hard and achieving success. You are your own worst enemy.

  • "Turning hate for hate... darkness can not drive out darkness?" Does that include his threats against Iran?

  • I like how he has a black manservant holding an umbrella over his head.

  • For someone of age, that's a pretty immature comment. I guess the next thing you'll say is that he's a racist. Just like all the members of the GOP establishment. I'm not trying to start a battle with you, but your comment was really uncalled for. I don't think any one politician is pure evil, regardless of party.

  • Where did I call him evil? I just think it's ironic.

  • McPuppet.

  • I KnoW! it pisses me off! Mccain is a moron

  • more bullshit from doubletalk mcbush....yeah, he says that shit now, cause it's convenient for him to do so in this photo op. yeah, i can reeeally hear that conviction in his voice. fuck you, mcbush!

  • John McCain should be cleaning pools somewhere in AZ, not giving speeches.

  • No offense to pool cleaners.

  • Much as I'm loathe to give kudos to BushCain, it took nuts to announce, specially at that location, that he'd been a fuktard and was wrong.

    That took nuts.

More than Bushite has or would do.....

  • Matchbo555 it's your daddy.

  • check out the guy holding the umbrella

im glad to see we are still keeping the niggers in their place.

  • I'm not black and thank ODIN I'm not having to share a country with the likes of whitey trailer trach like you.

  • Why is a black man having to hold the umbrella for an old white man in front where King died?

  • C'mon! You'll love my OBAMA MUSIC VIDEOS THAT YOU HAVEN'T SEEN YET channel!

  • A true politician changing colors to fit the public acceptance of the masses, makes you wonder what he really believes. Dr King would be apposed to the Iraqi war that McCain loves so much and he would not have any support for Dr King.

  • The Gods must be crazy!

  • Why is he there? Only to woo the black voters, he could have put a bill to the senate for blacks but he didn't. I can't stand him or Bush.

  • WOW!! he said he remembered when it happened in 1968 but he said he voted against MLK day in 1983 because he wasn't aware of his significance...wow whoever votes for him is racist/retard

  • think it is time for him to take out his white hood and burn some crosses

  • pathetic

  • John, you're a liar. CNN, I used to like you - you suck!!

  • Well WTF ???

  • Hey John! FYI: you know you're on the wrong side of an issue when the Klu Klux Klan agrees with you.

  • the best thing about this rally in Memphis today is that only 2 people missed work... nothing like being heckled by the unemployed and the minimum wagers.

  • McCain is insane. I pray that he bows out of the race due to FEC violation or due to one of his scandals. Ron Paul is the only candidate that is telling the truth & the only Republican that will beat either Hillary or Obama head on. McCain is lunch meat & so is the Republican party if he is nominated.

  • Yep, exactly. The GOP voters could swallow their pride and make the sensible choice. Too bad theres no consolidation to McCain losing to Obama or Hillary since they plan to enlarge the military industrial complex in the middle east just like him.

  • Even thought Ron Paul is pretty radical he did volunteered in the civil rights movement in the sixties along with Mitt Romney's father. Both of them would have attractive more black votes had they had gotten the nominee.

  • Watch how CNN lowers the volume when he is heckled. They should be ashamed of themselves. NPR played the actual audio. Many people in that carefully picked crowd still booed him.

Also, look at how Kunta holds the umbrella for him. How touching. You'd think his team of highly paid propagandists would have advised against that.

  • Watch the Faux News version - it's live and you can actually hear the jeers.

Faux News evidently trusted this guy enough to give his platform live coverage.

  • Why do black people have to separate themsevlse from white people. There shuoldnt be a "black or white community" we are all americans.

  • he is making an effort, but he has no record and he is lying about supporting the MLK holiday in Arizona. Even Dick Cheney and Newt Gingrich voted for the MLK holiday. McCain is to the right of Dick Cheney. Scary.

  • he can kiss the black vote goodbye

  • He says he is going to reach out... but even Clinton is getting killed in the black vote.

  • FLIPFLOP

  • he shouldve dropped the unbrella

  • No one in the McCain campaign could find a white person to hold the umbrella for the old, white, rich guy?

  • Blacks don't seem to forget or forgive anything....

  • Frankly, I'm a white college student but THINK about it would you forgive and forget hundreds of years of slavery, oppression, and after the Civil War, years under Jim Crow laws in the South and de facto segregation in areas of the North. African Americans have every right to be mad since McCain's vote against it could be equivalent to an African American voting against a holiday for George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, or even Abraham Lincoln simply because some of their beliefs appear racist.

  • sorry, wanted to finish my comment, some of those leaders comments were racist but that was the period in which they lived, however, its hard for a living American senator (McCain) to claim in the 1980s to not know who Martin Luther King Jr. was, is an insult to the Civil Rights Movement, one of its leaders, and an insult to American history itself.

  • EVERY RIGHT TO BE MAD? I'm so sick of statements like this. You do realize that if there wasn't slavery, the same people you see here would be livin it up in Nigeria right now, right? THE PEOPLE OF THIS ERA DID NOT HAVE TO SUFFER, WHAT DO THEY CARE IF THEIR ANCESTORS HUNDREDS OF YEARS AGO SUFFERED, IT HAS NO EFFECT ON TODAY'S AFRICAN AMERICANS. So why can't they take the glass is half full approach and be happy they are here now with equal opportunity, not here 100 years ago.

  • Explain to me how a cradles of civilization would be a bad place to live places like, Egypt, Carthage, Ghana, the Nubian kingdoms, Kongo, and Great Zimbabwe, which all existed well before the birth of Christ. You seem to be putting the cart before the horse. Africa had powerful nations when most of Europe was still empty wilderness. Yes there are problems in Africa know but they were created by Americans and Europeans who colonized and took advantage of Africans not the people themselves.

  • Africans had many advanced societies that were basically crushed by Chinese gunpowder, used by Europeans, that helped start the problems their. Also you say that no one is affect by slavery yet institutionalized racism even in none legal forms was not ended until at least 1965, 43 years ago, and anyone who believes that suddenly no one cared about race after that has obviously never looked at Supreme Court cases like Loving v. Virginia, that ended the last LEGAL ban on interracial marriage.

  • Finally, hzachuck, don't talk about history you obviously have never studied it at a college level and arguing it with a history major is not a good idea. Also in response to ugaplaya44 I will concede that I should have given JFK credit for helping with the Civil Right movement but I think much more credit should be given to the white and black people who were killed in the South from lynchings that continued almost uninterrupted from the end of the Civil War until the 1960s.

  • sorry "now" not "know"

  • I didnt know that we have a Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, or Thomas Jefferson holiday. Abraham Lincoln fought for and died to end slavery, but yet he is not even mentioned in the same sentence with Civil Right Leaders. JFK is the one who pushed for the Civil Rights Act, but was killed before he could see it. Yet not mentioned as a beacon of hope for Civil Rights...don't forget your history people. There were many whites who also died for the cause as well.

  • Third Monday of every February comes a little holiday called "PRESIDENTS DAY"

  • ohhh yea...Presidents Day. And it is glorified soooo much isnt it. I mean at least the post office and banks get the day off.

  • Also, haven't you ever heard of an analogy, I was merely comparing McCain's actions to those of how a person who spoke against some of American's great leaders would get the same reception, especially if they were black. However, my I constructively point out that JFK didn't get a lot done in the way of Civil Rights and it was actually LBJ using Kennedy's death to force the legislation through.

  • No he's a typical Republican

  • So when do we get to here his excuse for voting against the MLK holiday.

Could it be? he's pro War and MLK was a peacefull man.

His campaign staff better get busy to come up with a good excuse for the sheep.

  • "I knew that I could never again raise my voice against the violence of the oppressed in the ghettos without having first spoken clearly to the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today - my own government." MLK

Thank Lord Jah Allah Yahweh Almighty, that we now live in peace and harmony led by enlightened avatars of love like Dick Cheney.

  • John McCain, BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • YouTube search; William Pepper MLK Assassination Trial. For the truth.

  • Another old, Christian, GOP, bigoted, white man. Haven't we had enough of those. (I'm white myself, in case you wondered.)

  • Also recall that MLK was rigorously against the war in Vietnam when it detracted from his main message to do so.

  • It didn't detract from his main message, it reinforced his main message to be against the Vietnam War.

  • That's what happens when you change your views just to reach a certain type of people in hopes to pick up votes for a presidential election. Just be truthful John that's all it takes. BOOOOOOOOOOOO McCain.... WE DON'T BELIEVE YOU!

  • cut him a break he was in a Viatnamese Prison when the MLK stuff was going down. Man you people are heartless.

  • And he was fifty when he entered congress, and he didn't know about MLK? Gee, I just don't know about teh black folks. What's up with them? He had a few years after getting out of the Hanoi Hilton to catch up on things.

  • No.

  • Umm, the Civil Rights Movement from 1955-1968 is the "MLK stuff"? He denied the holiday in 1983 and 1987. If he hadn't opened a book by then, I don't feel sorry for him. Here is the question: Why did McCain not apoligize nationally before running for President?

  • Welp, there goes the black vote. lol, McCain is a joke. He's not a threat to the Democrats at all. The Repugs couldn't pick an easier candidate to run against.

  • I think he should have gone ahead and made it a bigger debate about race in America. John could have used the notion of "racism" in both whites and blacks to explain why he did not vote for the Martin Luther King day holiday.

  • You mean, finally admit America is white-only and bigots run wild in the streets??

  • The fact that you people are even THINKING about voting for this man is beyond me.

  • So either he was deeply touched by the assasination and knew what that meant to the nation, or he was not aware of the man and the movement. Can't have it both ways flip flopper - When is the press going to wise up on this McBush?

  • Hold on a second. In this speech McCain claims to remember what he felt on the day that MLK was assasinated. He goes on to say how much that meant to him. In a video speaking with a reporter on his plane TODAY, he claims that he didn't vote originally for MLK day, because he wasn't aware of the issues. The dumbfounded reporter asks how he can not be aware of such an important figure in American History and John blows her off.

  • in reality he can't really be honest about remembering because at that time he was dodging bullets in Vietnam and later imprisoned.
