what do you mean? please expand. The poem is about the mystery that we human beings don't know that we are loved , that the thing we seek most is right there in front of us, beyond us, within us...all of us.

With such mystical texts, the context is everything. There is no context given here and so it has become virtually meaningless. You might respond that it can mean different things to different people—whatever one makes of it. This is to miss the point entirely. God is God and is not changed by people's perceptions or conceptions. He shows himself to us. We can recognise that or refuse to do so.

The context is an internal conversation in which the mystic hears his Beloved complaining that he is not as aware of the beloveds presence as he might be. Still the fact that the conversation can even happen is a wonder, a mercy. None of us are op to the task of returning the love we are given. In this sense the context is every human being. Zsuzsanna's video response to our recording is only one possible interpretation. Your's is another.

The words are from a Sufi mystic, presumably about Allah. Some of it resonates with the christian doctrine of the incarnation. The term theophany means a visible manifestation of God to man (from theo—god and phainein—show).

To say "theophany of perfection" is intriguing. If "perfection" here is a reference to God, then it probably deserves a capital letter to denote this. If it does not refer to God, then where does theophany fit in?

Yes, we are loved by God. He IS right in front of us. He has shown himself to us in his son, Jesus. God is the personification of love. On one level, it is a mystery that we do not know that we are loved, given that God has done so much to demonstrate that love to us. But then again, humans are rebellious and want to do their own thing. They don't want to hear God's voice and would prefer to listen to themselves.
