@Fisherkingnigel, thanks for the tip (and very helpful videos!). Yes, I had already checked that I was connected to the VPN before turning on PlayOn.
Anyway, it's working now. This is what I did to fix (using Win 7): Open 'Network and Sharing Center', select the VPN network and change the default Network Location of 'Public' to either 'Work' or 'Home'. Then disconnect and re-connect to VPN and then turn off and turn on PlayOn. This might just be luck (maybe some other cause?) but all works OK.
I followed the steps in this video, i.e. installed VPN (using a U.S. IP address) and PlayOn TV. It all seems to work. But when I play the PlayOn app on my iPhone and select Hulu or Netflix, for example, it just displays the "Unavailable outside USA" message. So, I can't get US content. That's my problem.
If I use my PC browser it all works fine, i.e. I can go to either Hulu or Netflix websites and browse and watch content with no errors about my PC not being in the U.S. Can anyone help, please?
@Rodster2278 I think what you've done. First make sure you've turned off your Playon or not allowed to connect. Then turn on your VPN and then turn on your Playon. If you first turn on your Playon then your VPN it'll not configure to your new IP. Sounds good? Tell me what happens ok...
I don't know how that work because most devices like PS3, Xbox and WD TV LIVE must connect to Playons Media server which is on your computer. SO unless you don't have that option to select a media server than it might now work.
