@allyq90 only 5 ppl of each dance crew can be on the show, so they choose the 5 best dancers to represent the entire crew. mostly all of the crews on ABDC have a lot more members

i personally think that the majority of the crews in terms of fresh, kaba, so real, etc dance the same but the crew that introduced the style to america was kaba and honestly i havent seened anyyyyyyy iso dance dreak ever touch kaba modern the way they do it.........i think they are all great but if you look at kabas details ill put money that no group is f#@$% with them......sorry gotta give respect where is due...

why the hell are ya'll fighting over something you are not apart of. Look at the dance and enjoy it. It's funny because most people call out people for using a dance "style". Of course certain things will look alike because IT'S THE SAME STYLE. if they're ripping off choreography than fair but that obviously ain't the case here. It's a continuous cycle of inspiring, learning, and teaching. Enjoy =)

Dance is about one love.

@thebonubonu calm down dude. no one on modern has said anything about calling anyone out. we do what we do because its what we love to do. you can analyze and misconceive whatever you want. vogue is a style of dance that goes way back to before this dance competition was even created, and a TREMENDOUS amount of that style, this specifically known as dramatics FYI, includes shablams. its a legitimate piece of the style. so again, modern will continue to be who we are, as will everyone else.

@Kalanikoa well said mr Jonah! i remember going up to you at vibe and telling you how much i loved your piece. the piece that i did is more of a jazz funk style with a few little hints of vogueing.. our piece really arnt even the same at all, but lets not let this convo get out of hand and take away from this great set that you guys have put together. and besides, how about you judge a piece based on its actual choreography, and not on how many "shablams" or other gimmicks the choreographer incorporates?

@TheBonubonu i can't say for sure who INTRODUCED the first shablam in the scene, but it sure wasn't GRV. in terms of who COINED shablams in these competitions that made the mouths drop, i believe it was jonah in vibe 14. he came out with his first voguing piece "i am not a whore" which had SHABLAMS. then he did shablams in the body rock 2009 set (3rd place), friendship games 2009 (which was ironically the same song GRV used in fusion xi), fusion XI, & then body rock 10.

@TheBonubonu but you're right. a good piece is not based on shablams or gimmicks, its based on artistry, vision, and good choreo. its funny how you say that kms choreographers are like other people, because i never saw people do what kaba does or at least not until kaba did it first. in the past km was critiqued for not enough gimmicks but having very good choreo. this set had a balance of both. besides just good blow ups, km was still artistic, had good choreo, and was hype as hell.

@TheBonubonu I personally loved GRV's set as well and thought it was sick as hell, but you can love it without trying to down play any other team. mad respect to kaba, GRV, and every other team. everyone killed and did their thang! in the end its not about who did what first and who placed where how many times. its about each dance team doing what they love, growing, AND learning from other dancers. technically...no one in this community is truly original because everyone learned from others!

@TheBonubonu i believe kaba wasn't calling anyone out. sure, GRV has been placing RECENTLY, but if you look at kaba's history, they've got a pretty HEFTY line of trophies, awards, recognitions. in fact, if it wasn't for kaba's TREMEMDOUS contribution to the dance community, no OTHER dance team would be the way they are. think about. kaba even got an award at BR for 10 years of commitment to this dance competition and to the dance community.

besides, kabas choreographers are way better.

The current Kaba Modern is not the same team that came out with a unique style based on sharp hits, good visuals, and ORIGINALITY.This isn't a criticism at the actual dancers, who were definitely killing the routine, but to the choreographers who do similar pieces to winning teams, incorporate subliminal messages at the end, and expect no one to call them out on it despite their best intentions.
