  • WOW...

    sublime

  • This film "Aria" changed my life. For one thing ..this was my first exposure to the music of Lully and Rameau..that changed my life forever. I thought this sequence was the best video of the film!

  • Superb clip, the old lady looking back and celebrating her life. I saw the film at the cinema back in 1988, yes it is uneven as a whole (stupid Lully gym slut scenes and Ballo in Maschera medley with Theresa Russell in drag), but many vignettes are astonishingly beautiful (the surgery Jussi Bjoerling Nessun Dorma, the Las Vegas suicide Liebestod, the Bruges Tote Stadt). This is arguably the most visually gorgeous of all. This aria from "Louise", like the Liebestod, is sung by Leontyne Price.

  • It's as moving now as when I saw this beautiful vignette in the film over 20 years ago...so glad it's up here for all to view

  • Thanks Blaqjasshellaq.

  • Thank you for putting this video online... alas I have never managed to find the complete DVD as I think it was withdrawn many years ago. Jarmans work is just amazing...

  • Beautiful. Just beautiful.

  • The older woman looks a bit like a

Redgrave, the young one is definitely Tilda Swinton, or so I was told. Can anyone confirm?

  • The young couple are Tilda Swinton and Spencer Leigh; the old lady is Amy Johnson.

  • This is really great video. A kind of memento mori... Thank you for posting it. She is a beautiful young/old lady.
