Tetris Attack - Fast 99999

Hey in the minute 2.06, there is a chain I didn´t understand, the chain started in the left, and the player starts to move blocks from the righ, just after the chain 7x , the blocks errased on the right marks 8x, but it has no relation with the principal chain... what happened there?

He did 3 in a row Green, which set it UP to CONTINUE the Chain on the Right.

Since the 8x Chain Happened During Chain 7x, it can still count to the Chain.

Same type of thing would happen if you were playing VS Mode, clear garbage Blocks and have 2 - 3 matches just from falling blocks.

Each 3 in a row then would be a New Chain (Assuming None start on the same row as each other).

While the 7x chain he make a 3 in a row green, Now what i see, is that he moved a purple block on the same row level of the 7x chain, making a skilled combo wich turned on the 8x chain. There´s the only explanation for me, otherwise I had not do the same play ever

there is no wasted motion with the block placement in this video.. he does everything so exact so that there are blocks left over for bonus points. you get those after creating a high chain and breaking other blocks while your chain is ending.. he does this quite often giving him mega points towards the end. the skill of that coupled with your actually ability to play gives you the opp to finish with the lowest time, esp on endless mode...

whoever is playing this has this down pat. i used to be a fanatic about this game always curious as how to create chains and such and i actually learned from ska. look up tetris attack 3'10. the video should be black and white. watch his video of his shortest times and you'll see who i learned from.. butt then again it's something you aquire after playing so long you can't just oh ask someone to teach. it's more baout the mechanics of the blocks and how they play out...

I wonder why you never go over 13x. You have the capability in most of those chains, but you never did go over. Why is that?

The reason is, The Game Creators were kinda retarded and ended the Max Chain at 13x.

They didn't think people would get over 13 Chain very much.

ANYTHING over 13x you will just get a ??? but the chain and the bonus won't continue.

You will just get 30 points for the blocks.

They fixed this in Pokemon Puzzle League, with no limit on chains.

One other thing I noticed he's doing is taking advantage of another quirk of the scoring system: When he hits that 13 chain, he immediately pops as many 3s as he can while the x13 clear is flashing and disappearing.

This is because any clear started while a chain is in progress 'gains' the chain's bonus. This means that in a x13, each 3 is worth 1830 points (1800 for the x13's bonus, and the 10 for each panel).

He is good. Many of us in that community were also very good...I wonder what happened to the others..

@gxcad To me, it looked very "human". I can see the player making corrections (after unintended results) to continue the chain, going for bonuses at the last moment, and the speed is very human-like too. It looks almost exactly as how I would have played it.

Tool-assisted runs are very obvious in Tetris Attack.

Heh, and the bonuses. I remember those: Chain at x13! Quick, clear some panels to get more points and make sure you break that chain!

Nice... my best time is 4:28. It was pretty impressive at the beginning when you had time lapsed chains going. You probably could have saved a few seconds clearing the three yellow stars at around 0:30 while you were still in the x13 chain going. But you do that in all other chains so I guess you knew that! :)

In case anyone doesn't know, this game is called Planet Puzzle League on DS. Even better than this (gameplay wise) because the stylus makes it easier and quicker. I LOVE the sound effects and music of this version tho!

I much prefer the controller so as soon as nintendo FINALLY decides to release this on virtual console, I'm downloading this right away!!! I used to be awesome at this game this game. I'd be able to gain 99999 no problem. My goal was not so much time as it a was the speed level. I always started on level 1 speed. My goal would be to hit 99999 before it reached level 99. So far my record (as far back as I can remember) is level 45. Probably lower but it's been a while.

Well I use a regular snes controller and I move just as fast

I would say play super hard vs mode or vs mode on lvl 5 just because the blocks stay the same color but fall a little faster and then when you go to endless easy it should feel a little slow

but once you got your speed down play endless like a mad man

I've always been curious if this was rom or actual SNES cartridge. I can't seem to find an SNES controller for the life of me that can keep up with the button reaction times. My best time on SNES is like 6:30 ish but on rom I almost always break 4:30 w/ pr of 4:03.
