  • I assume that all owners of this instrument are assholes since I have yet to find a performance of the Mos Eisley cantina song using one.

  • hmmm i still want to continuum personally, it seems a more pure representation of a way to get pitch to my synths, i mean it can do any pitch and the x axis can could control filters and release and stuff, it would be amazing

  • this instrument changes everything. It will be a big success.

  • are all those lights really necessary

  • BTW - it will only work on a MAC. It's not Windows compatible and you still need to hook it up to your stereo or guitar amp to get any kind of decent sound. $5600 is way too expensive for this toy. I wouldn't call it portable either. You need a computer at all times to hear anything.

  • @guitgeo Windows compatibility is coming *soon* but that's no reason to knock it; its very new software. Also, I will trade the two/three keyboards some guys use for more versatility any day. Who cares if you need a computer when you don't need anything else but an amp... O yea, and you can jump around stage instead of being a nerd in the back. I'm waiting for the windows version and getting a Tau. They're only $2755. Say hello to the new generation of synth players.

  • @Macktheknife247 What the hell gave you the impression that I was knocking it?? For me it's way overpriced. New things like this always are. Remember the Atari 5600 video game when it first came out? $250.00! Now you can pick one up at tag sales for $10.00 including 25 games. I know because I did. You were still shiting yellow when Atari was big if you were born at all. Mind your own business and stop being a hater !!

  • I use the Eigenharp as an extension of my existing experience with "traditional instruments, which I also possess. From an artist's perspective, anything I lay my hands on, has creative potential. As long as I can create great music, despite criticism from others. To me, there are NO boundaries or limitations when it comes to creativity and imagination.

  • kra... na boa... prefiro vcs usarem tecnologia pra guerra do q pra musica ¬¬

  • o mal do brasil é que os habitantes preferem passar uma tarde a disparar tiros de AK47 pra crianças do que estar a ganhar cultura...

  • why are so many people being such close minded aholes about this? This thing has such limitless potential, and I can see big name producers using it soon.

  • i can has cheeseburger?

  • Yes. Yes u may lol cat.

  • @josh1111111111111100 your a douchebag

  • josh, stop commenting on every video of the eigenharp, you're a retard. this is far from a keytar. unless youre musically skilled and open minded you couldn't make a single good sounding note on this thing. Judging that maybe you know maybe ONE instrument, possibly, and that doesn't include any on the spot improvisation, STFU.

  • nope... im going to comment on what ever i want..and speaking of being open minded, telling some one to stop commenting is a form of censorship that close minded people use to express their views, so suck on that for a while. douche.

  • only difference is its not limited by certain sounds any sounds can be programmed into it and just sounds awesome. mostly when they dont use the techno crap but the pianos and drums in on it

  • Strangely enough turntablism is still alive and well in this day and age, and is still quite popular among hip-hop DJ's as well as some others. If you don't want to play this instrument, then fine, nobody cares. Go play whatever it is you play if you do indeed play an instrument at all. We'll all be happier that way.

  • This is not all it can do. It can be played more like a "real" instrument as well. The comments about this being a "gadget" are absurd, the options for live performance are amazing and if you watch other videos, you'll see. If some people don't get it, that's an issue with them, and not with the Eiganharp. You could run an entire one man show with this thing. Including controlling concert lighting.

  • I am surprised by some of these comments.

This is cutting edge technology. Although I am not a fan of simulating sound, this is some third kind instrument. Research an mpc 2000, Reason 4.0, or Frooty loops, and you wiil see what this piece is doing. Great job inventor! See you at demf I have your pass!

    Will "Make Millions"

  • I'm young. I'm a musican. I like gadgets but this is poor. Keep them coming though, it's better than the others

  • I agree. This is a waste of time and money. How could anyone conjure up the idea this instrument is paving the future of music???

  • I just can't help hating this thing ..

  • $6000 dollars for this???????? It does nothing more that a cheap $200 midi keyboard controller, only in a guitar type format allowing the player to limp along only knowing what fret to put his finger on instead of knowing what the note he is playing. Buy a keyboard and learn to play it if you want to sound like that. Its cheaper and when you can play it you will know ALOT more about music.

  • kraftwerk are much more interesting with old-fashioned vintage synths. This instrument will die at least in two years

  • Piano players said the same thing about vintage synth's. it's a new generation and they like their gadgets.

  • it is not generation, and it is not future. Do you know where to learn to play it. It is, like you said; only gadget for reach sons. Segway will never change bicycle.

  • such a cool, versatile instrument. too bad it costs so much =(

  • What is the guy on the bottom doing?

  • The percussion.

  • stroking his tool of course.

  • So... what does the sheet music for this thing look like?

  • ...exactly the same as sheet music for anything else? Musical notation is musical notation.

  • u mean tablature?

  • ... Sure? I dunno how to read music anyways D= *sits in the corner and watches* @_@

  • if you can play it, learning to read music is pretty easy

  • You say that, and i can play a piano pretty okay, but i still can't read music at all. I have to sit there for like an hour and translate it or something.

  • i taught myself, trust me, if you keep practicing and most importantly stay motivated you will learn it. Music is a skill as much as a talent, it can be further fine tuned and improved to any degree if you have the willpower to get it done

  • Comment removed

  • Maybe, but it can play about 50 different instruments and is programmable. You can program it to play a bassline and repeating riff while you play the keyboard on it. A single person can pretty much replace an entire band with one of these.

    Not so dumb now eh?

  • What I really want to know if whether these features can be developed using external software, ie having access to physical interface interactions through an open protocol or whether you are limited to the canned functionality provided by it's software. If the former then I'm pretty much sold.

  • I think I know what you're asking, anyways. All I know is what Ive read in the last 10 minutes, an that you have a sort of guitar rig-esque program on the computer, and in a year or so its going to be open source. anything else is on the site. from memory I can't post links, so its just at eigenlabs. com /alpha/

  • from what I've seen of it, you can load your own sound files from things you have on your computer, say from garageband or other music programs. Basically, its a music making machine with nearly unlimited possibilities.
