I just heard them today at 90.9 FM in Salt Lake City, UT and immediately fell in love with their music. Please come to SLC I'd love to see you alive!Love it!
OK, great sound, John's off camera which is too bad but that's ok. But check Greg spinning his right stick at 5 seconds, catching it and hitting the cymbal, I swear it is the best recovery I've ever seen. Perhaps it's coincidental, but this is the first I have seen him play with a tom in ages. Fun. But with their great originals, I see no need for covers really. They are the the greatest current composers in rock/pop.
Yeah, I was so glad I caught him dropping and recovering the stick like that! And yeah, I was too close to get all the members into one shot conveniently but John does get a little cameo near the end.
Also hadn't thought about the tom thing. The only other time I've seen Deerhoof was at the Electric Picnic festival here in Ireland after the release of Friend Opportunity and now that I think of it he hadn't got a tom then. They were a 3-piece that time too without Ed.
It's 'Let's dance the jet' from their forthcoming album. It's a cover, originally written by the famous Mikis Teodorakis(spelling?) in the 60s. Deerh are soo great!
Cool, thanks. That means I recorded quite a few covers that night! I took short clips of Goin Up The Country, Pinhead and have the whole of Hitch-Hike (cant remember who did this originally but I know its a cover).
I've been having trouble uploading other videos the last couple of weeks. They keep failing due to an "unknown error" so I'm waiting for a while as I think this is a problem with Youtube.
