I think that many women just want that respect, that recognition that it is their hair, their choice (i.e. bald headed bang lady, lol). They might also be saying that, it's not that they don't care about a man's opinion, they simply value their own more. I've never given a hair disclaimer on any of my dates. I never had to but I probably would have been thrown back if the topic came up. It's "just" my hair. Aren't there more interesting things to ask me about?
I lol'd @ his video. Not b/c he didn't make sense but b/c he 1) has game & 2) sounds like many WOMEN who have "finally arrived" & decided to embark on their "spiritual journey on the natural hairway." It's just hair, 1 part of us. Why can't we give our men the freedom to not like EVERYTHING about us? As a natural for over a decade, I've met very few men who like my hair. So? They still recognize that it's MY hair, my choice. Never had to have that conversation tho. They all just got it.

You are so right, There is a beautiful side to being natural and definitely a ugly side. I really hate the ugly side because going natural is so exciting and it helps with self awareness and confidence to accept who you are.

When I saw his video, I had to share his link. I love his video and it he gave his thoughts about natural hair and what we as women can do to inform our significant others if they don't understand! Girl did you even take a breath? This really got you going. There is a lot of bullying going on in the natural hair community. We women think that we own the 'movement", but most black men don't chemically treat their hair. We should give them credit for accepting there kinky hair too. My husband married a woman with relaxed hair. It took some adjusting when I took his clippers and shaved my head. He accepts and love me. The male perspective is very relevant to us naturals.

THANK YOU. I try to be friendly and open to other's opinions when they comment on my videos. But, sometimes people just plain need to be checked. I wanted to ask people how they felt about the Essence comment because YT is a place where we SHARE ideas and Essence doesn't like that. They can't cash in on it. It's wrong for Essence to use YTers for content and exposure and then turn around and discredit them to promote their own products.

As you stated you want to look good for your man. If a random man came and said they disliked your hair natural, weave, relaxed braided or otherwise would you change your hairstyle for him? What if he doesn't like your car, clothes etc then change that? Having self esteem about not needing someone else to co-sign your "likes" is not necessary for everyone. To me, that beats a couple of paragraphs or a 1 page article about "natural hair"...followed by a Dr. Miracle relaxer ad anyday!!
I think you should do the product reviews together on your current channel. I also liked the young man's video!! I thought it was cute that he knew some things about natural hair and it was nice to hear his perspective. I'm also happy that I had and have the support of my husband when I decided to go natural. He loves my natural hair and I did explain the process of transitioning to him while I was going through it. At times when I was frustrated, I needed him to know why.

Although it may have seemed that way on the outside looking in, I pondered over the thought and decide to go natural. When I saw these sistahs downtown in Chi, I was like shoot I can go natural and still be fly. On the other note, you're so right about what is real issues to some and not to others. Oh yeah...about the Essence article...I say "later for them"...when I decided to go natural I went to the women on youtube that had first hand experience, knowledge and an actual live tutorial to show me what to do...hundreds of them by the way. To me, that beats a couple of paragraphs or a 1 page article about "natural hair"...followed by a Dr. Miracle relaxer ad anyday!!

I think you should do the product reviews together on your current channel. I also liked the young man's video!! I thought it was cute that he knew some things about natural hair and it was nice to hear his perspective. I'm also happy that I had and have the support of my husband when I decided to go natural. He loves my natural hair and I did explain the process of transitioning to him while I was going through it. At times when I was frustrated, I needed him to know why.

Although it may have seemed that way on the outside looking in, I pondered over the thought and decide to go natural. When I saw these sistahs downtown in Chi, I was like shoot I can go natural and still be fly. On the other note, you're so right about what is real issues to some and not to others. Yeah, I feel like it's alright if a man wants to give his 2 cents on natural hair as long as he doesn't start saying stuff like: "Oh, black women who wear weaves are trying to be white and have self hate. And, the only way you can prove you love yourself is if you go natural". Now, THAT gets on my nerves and I ain't trying to hear it. I not gonna get butt hurt "the male perspective". I am 32yrs old caught up their thoughts on the subjec cuz there is a lot more to me then man. My father is 56 yrs and his advice is that when it comes to black women and their hair stay out of it lol. And now I see why.

I don't know why natural hair has to be a sensitive topic. I feel that the people who say they "don't care" are the people who care the most or may be lonely themselves. That's my opinion. I went to a family get together the other night and noticed that me and my daughter and a couple of small children were the only ones with natural hair.
