  • Thanks mate, been looking for ages for instructions on how to do this. Finally found this video and did it in seconds. Cheers!

  • Works, if you're screw isn't already shredded to buggery! Vaillant have just cost me another visit by a plumber.

  • Thanks. I am a Gas Engineer n have been to two call out n couldn't top the water up on this boiler. Cheers for this video.

  • Many thanks for this - we couldn't find the instructions anywhere in the manual - it just said to contact the installer, which at 10.00pm on a Friday night wasn't very helpful. This was just what we needed.

Just to note, we have a Vaillant Turbomax Plus, not the Pro, and only have one valve at the front not two.

  • Many thanks for the video Abbey Mead. Very useful. How can I buy you a pint!

  • Hey uploader, and thanks for the video :-)

Well i am affraid i messed up a bit. Before seeing this video, i opened the valve, and didnt close is it in time, so now it is basically stuck at 2,8-2,9.

I only did it because the central heating element wasnt working, no matter how one set the thermostat, yet the warm water heating for showers etc, was working fine. This is still the case btw, and the boiler isnt giving of any warnings about being at close to 3 b. either.

    I hope it is alright...

  • Thank you !

Bled the radiators only to have the pressure fall..

Was stuck in a pickle until i found this video :D

    Much appreciated.

  • thanks !!! great help 8)

  • Many thanks my friend

  • thanks for this, god bless the internet and hot showers

  • HI THE 2 SCREWS THAT YOU TURN, ARE THEY THE FLOW AND RETURN. MANY THANKS

  • Thankyou very much for this vid, we keep waking up to a freezing house and having to put loads of clothes on the baby at night. Hopefully the end of our problems. Nice one.

  • Thank you very much, saved me the trouble of finding an engineer and putting up with no heating when it is getting cold again. Just moved into new home and I had noticed the pressure gauge was zero but i hought that was the gas pressure reading.

  • I had previously tried opening the valves behind the ones you indicated in the video (after reading to open what seemed like these ones on various forums), but all i heard was what sounded like more water leaving the system! doh!

After watching your video i tried the valve closest to me on the right, and hey presto my pressure gauge rose from 0 to 1.2 in no time! :)

Just like to point out that i only had 1 valve near the front, not the two as shown in this video. Maybe i have a different model

  • Thank you so much for posting this. After bleeding my radiators I tried to top up the boiler pressure but nothing was happening. I thought my boiler valves we're broken and was ready to call out an engineer, but it turns out that I forgot to open both valves ... d'oh! You'vre just saved me a shed load of cash and am very grateful. Thanks again, you're a lifesaver!!!!

  • Thank you! You saved my day after I emptied the system when I tried to release the air from the towel rack. Turned out there was a *lot* of air in that towel rack. :-)

I don't have exactly the same model, but it was similar enough to work (only one screw in my case).

  • Thank you. Two minute simple fix. Much appreciated

  • Many Thanks for the video Abbeymead. This really helps & it's the time of the year people will be will begin to demand heat & have realised (like me) a loss of held pressure. My installer of 3 years didn't fit the underside plate & didn't leave me the key. The commissioning section Vaillant installation booklet only illustrates with the underside panel fitted so for 20 minutes I was staring at the exposed valves the reverse side of jig. Again 10 seconds to do the simplest of tasks. Thanks Again

  • thankyou guys - perfect advice! - one question though - if I accidentally turned the grey plastic knob to the right hand rear of the boiler, the pressure dropped - what does this thing actually do?

  • i have used the key that came with my Valiant boiler but when i turn the flow switches no water fills the tank up any ideas would be much appreciated

  • Excellent, ty

  • uhgygygygf

  • I have a 2 year old and it was freezing when we got in as the boiler was not working until I followed your instructions

Cant thank you enough.... cheers mate

Beers on me whenever you are in Essex

  • Buddy, your are a star mate, what a breath of fresh air to have such a simple and well filmed "how to", I fixed my boiler in 10 seconds flat!

    Thank you sir...! (0;

  • You gave us a hot water and saved us from freezing tonight. Thank you so much.

  • big thanks !!!

  • Thank you so much for this video - fantastic! Even though we had the instruction book we couldn't find out how to top up the boiler but having watched your video did it in 20 seconds. Cannot say thank youenough!

  • very helpful thanks a million

  • Cheers, very helpful video!

  • Thank you very much mate, I'd been scratching my head trying to work out how to do this. What's wrong with a bloody tap? Saved me a couple of very cold nights cheers.

  • I cannot thank you enough for this video.

  • Thanks so much Abbeymead. It's great you've been so generous with your expertise and helped out several technophobes such as myself with uncomplicated instructions that saved me a fortune in calling out someone on a freexing cold Sunday morning. One engineer I spoke to said filling loop for this model was on braided cord, but he clearly didn't know his turbo from his max! Thanks again,

  • Abbeymead, thank you SO MUCH for this service. It's videos like this, and people like yourself that restores my confidence in people on the Internet. Thanks.

  • Hi there,

I wanted to say thanks so much for adding the video to youtube for how to top up the vaillant turbomax plus boiler. I couldnt find how to do this anywhere so its such a relief to finally find out!

However, I am a bit worried about doing it and I was hoping you could give me some advice? Should I switch the boiler off on the front before topping up? currently the pressure is at about 0.8. Im not sure if I can do it whilst the boiler is on?

  • Thanks young chap,

I couldnt find that info anywhere, after having to tighten a nut on a radiator

    Cheers.

  • Thanks (Teffington)

I try to offer an outstanding service to the public.

Its nice to help poeple thank you for having the time to comment

    Kind regards

    Abbeymead

  • Just to say thanks for the video. Was looking for an external filling lube and the manual is rubbish. It basically says that if the pressure follows 0.8bar you should use your installer instructions to repressurize. Well i never got those instructions so was stuck! Thanks again.

  • then you have to much pressure in it I have sent you a email about the reasons

perhaps you should get it serviced and the engineers will be able to sort that out on a service call

    Kind regards

    Abbeymead

  • @abbeymeadheating

Thank you very much for this gem of information, it saved my bacon.

  • What if its near the 3 mark?

  • when water gets hot it expands in your boiler there is a tank with air in it as air can be compressed the pressure in the system should stay constant

there are loads of reasons the pressure have gone to 3 bar

the air tank is faulty or needs some air

You have not disconnected the filling loop and water is passing in to the system

The domestic heat exchanger is faulty and letting water enter the heating system
