  • Back in the day you had to choose graphics over playability. The Genesis versions played better with smoother control and faster action vs the snes which had smoother and cleaner graphics but far better sound but gameplay was slow and delayed.

  • @sleazypig

God this. Sometimes it was balls hard to pull off what you wanted in the SNES version. Genesis version was definitely smoother.

  • I remember my mom bought me this for me for my 12th birthday In 94. Wish it was still the 90's

  • capcom's music is just so freakin' catchy. and the gameplay is CLASSIC.

  • level is viel zu einfach

  • Was this played on an emulator or recored through RCA cables with an actual SNES?

  • i wish this version had those super moves, you know the one wher eu do hadouken and you get the specials.

  • Ryu was one of the hardest enemies in this game .... when you play on hardest mode he is still stronger than Bison ....but i think the most annyoing enemie was Vega :D

i love this game and i even polay it today.. peaceee and Hadooooken!!

  • @MetallClaws lol i got a version on my phone, hard to do anything like hadokens though

  • eu viciei muito nesse jogo...

oq eu mais joguei na minha vida, na boa =]

  • You suck

  • wow this brings bake good ol memories! :D

  • Super Street Fighter 2 awesome Game best Game ever of Capcom i think when it came out i bought Anniversary Edition for Ps2 and its great to remind still the good old Times !!!

  • I remember Capcom and the game magazines continually hyping the "32 meg cart" for this game. I was so disappointed the moment "Round 1" started. The announcer wasn't even included for any "round announcements." The impact sound FX seriously lacked "pound" and the voices sounded even more muffled and hollow than they did on SF2 Turbo. The music went from having too many synthesized horns on every track (SF2 & SF2 Turbo on SNES) to just sounding too synthesized. This was a disappointing port.

  • @Elayzee I like this port. The music sounds like CAPCOM used the Mega Man X soundfont.

  • I wouldn't say the sound quality got worse after The World Warrior, compare between the arcade and SNES versions and you can tell they just made the SNES version sound more like it's arcade counterpart. But I woundn't say the quality got worse... It just sounded less like a SNES game and more like the Arcade version.

  • @AliceinNirvanagarden This is true, the arcade game of SSF2 had pretty tinny sound. I much prefered the sound effects of the first 2 SNES games myself. The bass in the heavy kick and the splash sounds of the heavy punch were superb. I actually prefer SF2 Turbo on SNES to any other version.

  • I remember when I first played this game on arcade. The first think that came to my mind was: "what the fuck they did with the sound??" I do not know if this was already released on CPSII, or on the first CPS. But I still considering music from the World Warrior and Champion Edition much better then at the "Super saga. The only musics I do enjoy at the time were the ones from newcomers, the remixes just sucked

  • 1:18 MJ! :)

    REST IN PEACE MJ!

  • Dhalsim sounds like he's saying yoda.

  • I would also like to add @ Chumpster1981 => Couldn't have said it better than u did :) Thumbs up.

  • I remember that street fighter 2 was one of the first fighting games that I played. I was very excited when this came out. More characters, and better backgrounds. Also the animations were terrific. I remember trying to imitate the stances of each og the different player lolz...... (it was really fun when you are a kid.) Times have changed. Nowadays kids would sneer at the retro games but i still have fun playing them on emulators.

  • @mazinmahmood I agree, u damm right. I watch from ti me to time the games here in youtube.....it brings me memories back:)

  • best eva

  • so true mr. chumpster. I played this on arcade when I was 6 or 7 i think. then i can hardly reached stage 3 or 4 haha. then this game was so AWESOME when it was HOT as you said. hahaha LOVE IT. :D

  • here's the trick.. i went to rippify [dot] com to download this song as an mp3.

  • I just bougt this from ebay usa for sega genesis will it work on my uk console?

  • i was just a few years when this came out, so sad:( games were a lot better back then. Thats why im gonna buy it this afternoon :D!! got a snes from my uncle, im happy xD

  • @LekoSplitt yeah bro thank God I have my original snes I found the game at the flea market $10.00 in excellent shape gameonly no boc or booklet oh well lol.

  • Why never street fighter 2, alpha, king of fighter for n64?

  • @UsernameRaciel when sony wanted to make a CD add on for the super nintendo (which became the Playstation) but that fell through, so when the playstation came out and companies like Capcom, Squaresoft and SNK were more interested in the Playstation and its capabilities so they signed contracts with Sony and released all their games on Sony systems. in my opinion I think of the PSOne as a continuation of the SNES.

  • i was like 4 or 5 when i had this game and i still love it

downloading it isnt the same as playing it on the super Nintendo with your friends

im going to buy a copy of it right now to play on my snes :D

  • game is still as awesome as back then. no street fighter will give me the same feeling as playing super street fighter 2.

  • damn this game is still dope

    this 1 and samurai shodown

  • feilong got fucked up

  • hows it going everyone? one of the greatest fucking games EVER, period. the whole series. bison used to piss me off like crazy. one of the best characters on here is fei long (bruce lee).

  • God, the bonus stage music on here sounds so much better than the Arcade's! LOL

  • fei long is brue lee?

  • nobody can be me when i use blanka. no, I'm serious. i was too fucking good with him. especially in sfII turbo. i humbled many people with blanka.

  • Bloody hell this takes me back to when i was 6 years old great game

  • Wait, Fei Long has nunchucks?...why not use them then? Vega uses those claws, no nunchucks?

  • I love Li Xialong. in this game.

  • Love this game. I can't believe I sold this game, I want it back! :(

  • feilong is actually bruce lee

law from tekken 3 is actually bruce lee

    liu kang from mk3 is actually...bolo yeung=))

  • i know she's fictional but Cammy looks pretty damn cute in this game hahaha

  • i fill like playing the game i still have 2trubo

  • what's wrong with Cammy when she loses? lol

  • Comment removed

  • Ive always wondered what was wrong with cammy when she lost theres no blood or anything

  • has it ever occur to anyone that ryu looks like charlie sheen

  • @IAMNOTAGIRLIAMAMAN

You have the the worlds wierdest username you know.

  • I think its the best username to date since 1879.

  • he looks like Jerdo. who later became Justin...

    Nevermind

  • Fei Long the new Bruce Lee ;- ) The Game was hard, but the best fighting game on the Super Nintendo :- D

  • when ryu jumps at you, do the standing fierce kick to knock him out of the air. when he does a shoryuken for no reason, walk up and throw him.

  • Wow...the constant elephant noises on Dhalsim's stage are REALLY annoying.

Come to think of it, all the sound effects on this version are poor quality compared to the original SF II: World Warrior...much too "tinny".

It reminds me of how SF II: Turbo mucked up a lot of the colour schemes from SF II: WW (like giving Sagat's grey statue an ugly, garish shade of orange)...if you're going to make changes, don't make the game worse!

  • Fei Long Rules!

  • I was in 2nd grade when I first started playing this game. I couldn't ever turn it off

  • cammy level is my favorite

  • how do you change difficulty?

  • looks like medium difficulty :P

  • joga nada!!

  • great upload .. i was like 12 yrs old when this came out and I thought it was the most amazing sf edition ive ever played in my life .. lol .. def brought back memories .. whatever happened to dee jay tho he was the man hahaha

  • 1:18 he is hot XD XD XD

  • YEAAAH!! One of the Best games i ever played .... . .. now they give us better graphics but the games are not so entertaining ;( ... OLD TIMES FTW ! ! !

  • I don't understand why people detest street fighter 4 and a majority of them don't like it because they don't like the music which is really stupid to me

  • What the hell are people complaing about the songs and sounds from this game? I mean i was like 16 when this came out and I got it on the genesis. But half these people on here havent even really played the originals or the "REAL" arcade. How can you judge something by watching it and then again , YOU WERE'NT THERE WHEN IT WAS HOT? Really. You can download it all now. Thats easy, but its not the same as it was back when the game just came out. Times have changed.. Spoiled brats havent it seems.

  • i totally agree!! back then you had to buy games not like today they can emulate any vidoe game system on the computers and download any game for free. i remember back in the days when we went to the arcade playing SF 2 world warrior for hours . and waiting for it to come home on genesis or super nes.

  • @Chumpster1981 . Thank You!! This game was the shit in the 90's man, going to arcades was way better than playing online today!!

  • @Chumpster1981

amen brother. and you were 13 when this came out, in 1994 (according to your number, if it is birthdate.)

  • @Chumpster1981 I was 4 when this came out had ssf2 on genesis and ssf2 turbo on snes

  • @Chumpster1981 Actually, the sound quality in Super wasn't as good as Turbo, which wasn't as good as the original SFII release for the SNES. I was told at the time that they had to compress the sound to fit the extra characters and stages in the game. I was very annoyed at the time when I traded in my Turbo for Super, and the sound quality was so poor. But then on the other hand, I got to use the 4 new characters too...

  • @chicaboo76 Totally agree, thankfully i played Super before i had the chance to buy it, which i didn't. I stuck with Turbo which is the superior game (musically and sound fx wise) The sounds are so bad in this one, in Turbo the sound when hitting with a hard punch or a hard kick is brilliant. In this one it sounds like bitch slaps

  • @reniisgod I've got SFII Super HD on XBL Arcade now [XBOX360], so I guess I get the best classic SF experience available [video and sound wise...]. But I do love the good old fashioned interlaced SNES games from time to time. I always think of the SNES and N64 as the best consoles ever, for the fun and enjoyment of the game titles they had.

  • @reniisgod the snes version isnt so bad

  • @Chumpster1981 well said

  • @Chumpster1981

People complain about the sound quality of SSII: The New Challengers because the sound quality is very poor compared to SSII: The World Warrior, which had terrific sound. Having played both games and being intelligent enough to spot the dip in sound quality does NOT make these people "spoiled brats".

  • @Chumpster1981

You got that right! I see we're about the same age. I got my copy for the SNES in 1994 and am happy to say I've played the arcade version on a few occasions, and played SSF2T in the arcade once in Alabama. And you're absolutely right - playing it on an emulator just isn't the same as having that authentic console/arcade experience.

  • @Chumpster1981 I agree with u!

I'm not from ur times cuz im a lot younger than u lol..

But I was raised with thisssss..My firsts games were Street Fighter and Fatal Fury so..I feel yaaa!

Fuck yea, This still kicking assss haha :D

  • @Chumpster1981 exactly man. Kids these days just don't know. Had to play games in an arcade when I was a kid. I remember always asking around for quarters and then getting excited when I had enough to spend a whole day at the arcade. Going with friends and just having a blast. Good times.

  • @Chumpster1981 What are you babbling about? Are you honestly suggesting that the songs and sounds from the original arcade version have warped over time, to the point where playing the arcade version today (non-emulated) would give you dramatically different audio? That's not how digital data works.

Also, PC emulation of the old Capcom arcade hardware is quite accurate. Again, not a valid criticism on your part.

  • @Chumpster1981 *continuing from my last post* It is a fact that the SNES audio is significantly different from the arcade version, and that it is of a lower sound quality as well. But I'm sure they sounded exactly the same back in the early '90s. Yeah, speaker technology was that bad back then; Nirvana sounded exactly like Alice in Chains.

Case in point: you'd be a moron even if you were 16 years old today. That you're at least 15 years older makes you even more of a moron.

  • The Arcade version's better!

    Better sounds.

  • i actually am partial to the genesis version despite the HORRIBLE audio

  • Why? There's nothing that stands out about that version.

  • 6-button pad without needing L+R buttons

  • not true.the snes version is very bad compared to the arcade version.the combo system is awful.the charicters fall down after a couple of hits, making it imposible to pull a combo off.

where as the genesis version does not have that problem despite the graphics and sound.

  • i don't understand why they did that cause the snes is more then capable of handleing a great combo system.

  • noob ffs...

  • idk if this is worth 8bucks to play on my cell phone...they should really lower down the prices for apps! i would like to get crystal defenders on my ipod nano though. looks good...& wanna get tetris on my cell. the only game i got on it is tetris pop which i find very compelling.

  • The Japanese version of SNES SSFII Ryu's music sounds a lot like Mega Man X2's music, unlike the US version.

  • Horrible ? Wow. I don't know what to say to you anymore. It a freaking Super Nintendo.

  • I not talking about the SNES, moron. I'm talking about the way the sound effects sounded as opposed to the original sf2

  • that's just level 4

when ryu is doing his hadouken, you just jump in front of him and kicking, not above!

  • That Ryu is a goddamn asshole; Hadouken! Hadouken! Hadouken! (and then when you jump over the fire balls near him) SHORYUKEN!

  • @henriboy84 hell yeah i hate when he does that

  • @henriboy84 Yeah, and Sagat pulled the same shit, only the Tiger Uppercut was alot more powerful. I always dreaded fighting either one of those two.

  • @henriboy84 you gotta let him commit to the hadoken and then jump kick him in the face.

  • @henriboy84 amen to that dude

  • Horrible compared to Turbo. Turbo owned this game hands down. Listen to those awful sound effects, how could they go from Turbo to this trash, sounds really compressed and cheap.

  • he's got a point, the sound for this particular effort was not so good, esp on genesis...gameplay however was great!

  • Well the arcade was probably better, but this is a SNES port.

  • When Ken/Ryu does his shoryuken, it sounds like a 'slap' when it hits.

  • 100% agree with you mate...like i said before..Turbo sound effects are epic

  • im allways feilong lol

  • how did you manage to get on the other side of Ryu at 1:04? It looked like you were too far away.

  • from where i can download this game? i have found many links but the game in that links was corrupt, please help me....

  • me 2, i cant find any snes roms working

  • Snesorama will have your roms..

  • virtual console

  • Download Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix from the PSN or XBLA. It kicks ass.

  • XD lol

  • eres unpendejo para jugar

  • wow!!!!!!

    i wanna play.

first time i played is when i was 5 years old.

  • You can turn on the blood if ya wanted

  • the intro is better on sega genesis.

  • i remember when this came out, everybody was talking about the intro with ryu.classic video game all time

  • awesome music.

  • wow feilong it s great..but my favourite in game it s ken

  • is it Ha-do-ken OR Kam-me-ha-me-hah!!!??? LOL

  • eres un level 3 que pollo!!!

  • YOU CAN'T PLAY THIS GAME!!!

  • am I the only guy at like 7-8 years old that thought about nailing Cammy?? lol

  • I never back then. Good thoughts though... I think. lol

  • why do some games on the snes have those annoying black borders esp all street fighter 2 games? i downloaded super ghouls and ghosts and there isn't any black borders??? why is this??? i only notice this on street fighter 2 games! when playing street fighter games i change the tv to zoom to get rid of the borders. i wish i didn't have to do this every time i play street fighter games :(

  • Mortal kombat games also have the borders..maybe it has something to do with aspect ratio of porting it from the arcade to a home console

  • I own SSFII for the Genesis, and it also has a black border when playing.

I think the reason they do this is because when playing on actual hardware, some of the game's graphics cause 'static'-like effects to cluster on the top of the screen. The border separates the static from the actual play area.

  • hahaha, her name is cummy

  • i used to spend over $20 at the arcade playing this game. years and years of play, i hate all 1on1 fighting games now.

  • Galbadia Hotel website

  • does anyone know where i can download this street fighter with sound? all i can find is a crappy DOS version without any music.

  • if better 2 play it in fast mode and no time

  • I fucking love this game!!!

  • It was in an older Part (Street Fighter II World Warrior e.G.) there was that announcement. Was taken out in SSF II for some reason

  • I still can't believe the SNES version wasn't able to fit the round and "Fight!" announcements in the game.

  • I think the fact that this game was able to fit on the SNES is a miracle. It end up being not so bad of a port.

  • Yeah I agree...it was always one of my favorites. Between this version and the Genesis, this one is probably better in terms of its graphics and sound effects. I should probably get this game back for my SNES, but since I already have the arcade version on Street Fighter Collection for PS1, it's debatable.

  • Even if you own the PS SF collection, the SNES version is still good to own because there are some combos only possible on the SNES version. It really depend on how much you like the game.

  • What Happens

  • So do I. U might not be the best but as long as it's fun 4 u it's cool. I'm very happy someone remembers the old games and even if the new games are better in terms of graphics they can't reach the old ones. It's cool to see someone playin with Fei Long ^^ But I prefer Ryu, Ken, Balrog & Sagat. Anyway, good job my man and another question on the side: Does anyone know the combination for Fei Long's fire kick? xD

  • hey! for fei long's kick you do a backwards shoryuken, facing foward it would be back,down,down-back,& back with what ever kick you want

  • I'ma try that thx a lot

  • cool thx a lot

  • tru, no problem

  • I agree.Gameplaying is for fun.I suck in this game too but I just play it for fun because I love the Street Fighter-series (my favorite is SSF2-The new challengers).I love the tune used in Cammy`s stage.I also it is coll when the anouncer(the voice that says:"Round 1.Fight etc) says the name of each country you go to.F.ex when you fight Cammy he says-England.I also agree with ZiroColo that Capcom release the Street Fighter-series to Wii Virtual Console.

  • Who cares if he sucks! A game is played for the fun, not for the skills!

  • dont judge a person u dont know!!!!

and nice job as long u beat it man, ill give u that

but i will probably own u with vega lol

  • nub

  • Man, I hope Capcom releases this game and Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo on the Wii Virtual Console!

  • So that's the game that marked the first appearance of Fei-Long, Cammy, T. Hawk and Dee Jay...

  • lol you are suck !!

  • Hmm, not the best, but who cares! As long as you beat it. lol I bet I'd suck at this more, though, since I haven't played it in years! I clap for you though, since you chose Feilong. He's one character I couldn't play with. Too bad you didn't put the stars up for it.

  • Feilong OWnS ALL!!!

  • You suck at this game.

  • Poor performance, I have to say.
