I've always marvelled at the structure of this lp; the way it starts up with geiger counter and leads into "radio activity" which is ominous and catchy in it's own way, then it quiets down into a desolate and sorrowful "radioland" after which it speeds back up again with the cheerful and bright "airwaves," then gives you a little "intermission" and then leads off with the controversial "news" and at the end of it all, "ohm sweet ohm." To me, there is no better way to end this marvellous journey.
I saw them in concert if you wanna call it that, they had panels of switches and well it was weird the did not use typical instruments at all, hahaha it looked kinda like a laboratory and they were dressed in Lab coats.
I don't think the sound comes from the record player - Ohm Sweet Ohm is the last song on side B, but you've put the needle right at the beginning of the groove! :D Nevertheless, the song is great and so are old records! :D I bought The Catalogue and though I love the music and the new, more polished mixes, I find the simplified new album covers a little disapointing. Old cover for Trans Europe Express and Radioactivity were much better! :D Greetings for Kraftwerk fans everywhere! :D
@andrzejrobertendriu: The sound is from the record and I do drop the needle at the last track. Check the distance between the stylus and the center label and bear in mind that the turntable is shot from the back.
@0x51d Well, ok, my mistake! :D But it doesn't really matter. :D Anyway, how did you manage to drop the needle exactly in the right place? I can never do that with my record player... :D
At our local radio station they produce a broadcast called "radio ohm- the magazine of electronic music" and they use the vocals of "Ohm Sweet Ohm" as their jingle.
I've used this song in church as a special. No I am not kidding. I play the tune, starting just as the vocal fades out, and, with a bit of clever phrasing, the tune and lyrics to 'My Faith Looks Up To Thee' fit perfectly!
'My faith looks up to thee, O, Lamb of Calvary, savior divine -savior divine. Now hear me while I pray, take all my guilt away, oh let me from this day be wholly thine....'
I have this album on CD and vinyl and for some reason the vinyl sounds better. lol Kraftwerk is very good. I love their music. I am not a model but I am looking good. lol
I once had a very kraftwerk looking top loading cd player that started to mailfunction until nothing would play on it. ^months later i retried to let it play cds, but it wouldnt untul i put radio activity inthere. It couldnt play the tracks exept Ohm sweet ohm. It played it only once and after that it finally died. As if it said goodbye in its own electromechanical way. it was very magical...
nd its totaly true. It was an audiosonic black toploader, with those plastic cooling fins in the end. Ik i could find one ill buy it again just for the looks.
Kraftwerk brigde Time and Space and even Aliens from Outer Space didn't know what to make of this Beauitful Music. Kraftwerk are the kings of Electronic Music
I'd second the comment about this song at my funeral. It's perfect. Peace, sadness, then joy and happiness. I love this whole album but this is my favorite piece of music from Kraftwerk.
the last Kraftwerk Album before they really went syntho-pop. what alaways amazed me is the Electronic Precussion. didn't Ralf and Florain make an electronic Precussion Keyboard themselfes?
I simply LOVE it. This track is a perfect example of how Kraftwerk were not just "ahead of their time" or "cool"... the music shows passion and a beautiful mechanical soul. This video truly does the track justice. Vinyl sound (digitized to go over the internet I will grant but warm nonetheless). The video is great, just looking at the cover and watching the record spin. Does not distract at all from the amazing audio. I even like the occasional shadow seen in the background. THANK YOU!
=OHM SWEET OHM= *sigh* Such pure beauty. VERY clean recording from 1975! Amazing. MY vinyls are shamefully TOO well-played.
*SNAP*KracKle* TECHNOPOP* Rice Krispies Non-Stop.
So- Florian QUIT??!! *NOOOOOO*
'fraid so. that's the word. :[[[[ Ralf is the only Originator left. They just toured Australia and Fritz had a {mild} heart attack.... Ye gads! God bless KRAFTWERK and keep them ALL safe! And God Bless Florian- wherever you are. [Solo projects? Funky JAZZ?? Who knows?]
I didn't hear a single vinyl pop or scratch the whole way through. LOL A true Kraftwerk fan, you must have kept it stored in a vacuum chamber! Hey, thanks for this!
Fell in love with this band the fist time I heard them
