  • did she came to Peru?? when was this?? what did she do??

  • The shame is that this lovely documentary doesn't acknowledge the work Edith carried out through the war helping 168 french POW's escape through her visits to Germany...

  • MsDhamma....beautiful explanation...

  • La simplicité d´un petit oiseau... la voix d´un Titan.

  • i have never been a fun to anyone, but i feel Edith Piaf has got an indeed true & good soul as well as cruelty taught by the street-life........i think we have no right to make any judge on her life if we have never tried to live on streets with no-one whom rely on.....i also think onstage she could be equal to herself, otherwise she was unable to give as well as to receive real love because of her strong anxiety rooted by her childhood experiences..........i am indeed honoured to listen to her

  • Now don't all go jumping on me, I don't disrespect her as an artist, but personally I am saddened by the death of her kid, without her mum to be there when she was ill and therefore cannot join the rest of her fans in praising her as an amazing, wonderful woman, an idol..

  • Comment removed

  • I don't think she knew what love was..she dumped her kid like she was dumped and replaced real love with adulation of fans and lovers she could easily get rid off, replaced real life and love with lyric metaphors, and like many many ambitious artists that came after her, sought comfort and ran from the lies in her life into the arms of drugs and alcohol.

  • If you haven't seen the movie La Vie En Rose I would reccomend it as a good movie to view as it is a true story about Edith Pilaf. I enjoyed the movie very much

  • Merci! J'adore.

  • me ellinikous ipotitlous..trelo..

  • @cacaorocks ontws.. :)

  • Edith Piaf was another briliant star that soared into the heavens leaving a trail of extraordinary work behind her. Bravo Edith Piaf!

  • Well done, thankyou.

  • i love the biographer :D

  • This was a human human.

Love her she was a little treasure. :D

  • 10472112LEE: Correction! She/Piaf was a little woman - a GREAT treasure!

  • Vive La Piaf!

  • Let's not put Edit Piaf on a pedestal, as if she was a goddess. She was a very real person, with unbelievable talent, one of the best singers of all time. She was also an alcoholic, a drug addict and at times, a prostitute. At the end they were all in one small, frail body and with the accident they contributed to early death. As her song says, she had no regrets. She gave hundreds of millions of people enjoyment and her personal life only serves as an explanation for some of her songs.

  • gybonarjr: Get your facts straight! While

Edith Piaf suffered drug & alcholism this extraordinary woman NEVER was a prostitute! The fact is she was offered this route - but, so abhorred the idea due to being raised early in life in a house of

ill repute & learning what those women

who were so caring of her & memorable that she vowed *never* to take that path!

Instead she devoted many of her songs to those women & all people of the streets

she was born & raised in her early years!

  • gybognarjr: While u are entitled to ur opinions - I have the right to differ!

This extraordinary woman with an even more-amazing voice DEFINITELY deserves to be put on a pedestal!

Not as a goddess! *Moreso* as human being who gave her ALL! - not for herself - but for her audiences & delivered from her soul, whatever the traumas & mistakes she made in her life-and which she stoically perservered!

YEP! Piaf has earned that spot on a pedestal - but that's JMHO!

  • Thanks a lot for sharing these videos!!

  • i am deeply sorry. it seems like i put my post to the wrong one. there was the one saying that she must died of having too much sex. i can't fid it here anymore...still if i offenced u in any way excuse me i didn't mean it))) cheers

  • What are you talking about? :))))

  • oh gosh))))it was for nulifeagain))))

  • Thank you very much for sharing this videos with the world. Due to this, I have learned a lot more about my most favorite singer, la grande chantuse francaise Edith Piaf, "La mome Piaf". Je l'aime pour toujours!

  • I must take issue with the biographer's comments about aging starts of 43 or 45 not knowing when to stop. Would she say that of Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Jack Nicholson? I think it's because we attach the perception of how one looks to our evaluations of female performers. Thus, bimbos like Paris Hilton can get a recording or film contract. Kathleen Battle's voice did not diminish. Many females want to continue to perform but because they don't look "hot" we won't let them.

  • Yea, and Tina Turner is still HOT at 69

  • Oh, so definitely the glass ceiling for women - Not only that, they didnt have the botox and filler that most every actress has succumbed to - even Nicole Kidman with her flatscreen forehead

  • may i ask why "you cant help but wonder how many lovers" she had?

  • WHY the heck do u wonder? i'm sorry to tell that but it is stupid to insult such a great personality with such a brutal filthy remarks. thank u.

  • To answer you: I wonder because I'm curious about her & because I damn well please. Whether or not she was born French, whats brutal & filthy about not being French by birth but being patriotic to France? What is so brutal & filthy about this? There are many people of a certain nationality that adopt another. Please answer my questions with something valid and not some over emotional accusatory rant. "thank you"

  • nulifeagain: WTF? If U are watching this History Channel Bio - or have read David Bret's bio - or taking time to search Edith Piaf's history --- it is well established Piaf was born in the Bellevillle area of Paris, France - Dec 19,1915!!

I'm lost as to ur ref "what's brutal & filthy about not being French by birth..." Take that discussion somewhere else! It has NOthing to do with Edith Piaf!

  • So what - are you in a nunnery or what - it goes without saying - she was PASSIONATE - it goes with the territory

  • That was great...Thanks a lot.

  • Very touching, thank you for posting!!

  • Wonderful!

Thank you for sharing this, very nice.

  • thanks for sharing :)

  • Edith Piaf is the French Judy Garland. In many ways, their lives were the same...and I am in love with them both...

  • I was thinking exactly the same today, when I realised how similar their comebacks were. So much joy and so much pain, both of them... *sigh*

  • @Ilajoviem Very similar lives, in many ways.

  • just having watched the the movie, it appears the movie over dramatized many events and missed several key points in here life

  • What points were missed?

  • I swear, they condensed all of these events into the movie.

  • the greek word for love is "agapi" and the greek word for i love you is "sagapo" not "sarapo" =p...i guess she learnt it wrong:P

  • yes, but french people pronounce R almost like greeks pronounce the letter g! I guess you didnt think about that did u:) I leave in France and my native language is greek and immedieately when I saw 'sarapo' i pronounced 'sagapo'...

  • @anniecy Και ποσο ομορφη φραση ειναι το σ'αγαπω...Κριμα να μην την προφερουν σωστα.

  • I share the view below and thank you sincerely for your efforts in posting this series.

  • This is just excellent. Thank you for sharing this. Edith is just a fascinating person.
