I LOVE this song. It brings back memories of the '70s. I am from Washington, D.C. and I heard this song for the first time on "WHUR". The D.J. was Melvin Lindsey (R.I.P.) I wish they still made music like this.
Is it me, or does most of Donald Byrd & the Blackbyrds music make you want to take a long drive on a warm sunny day with the top down on the convertible? I bet it's not just me, a lot of you feel that same way, don't you? lol. Great post.
This song, along with "Walkin' in Rhythm" are my two favorites by this group. The beautiful, haunting melody, with the funky rhythm and snazzy vocals make a wonderfully unique song.

Classic
The original release was a bit before my time, but this was HUUUGE on the London rare groove scene in the early/mid 80's
Brilliant tune
Evokes great memories of some good times

I love Donald Byrd! I saw him perform that live, it was magical. This is favorite jazz cuts of all time. Did Donald Byrd write this one?

I'm not sure, but this is my favorite too. I'll look it up and let you know later.

From the sounds of it I'd say this was something that Fonce and Larry Mizell wrote and arranged - great writers, producers and musicians.
