I know there's a lot of cats and dogs, but everyone of those animals they showed could've had huge chances of finding homes especially if they had a better way of spreading the word to people, and showing the people "The List". They definatly would've gotten homes, especially the calico kitten.

Why put a little kitten down or any dog cat or puppy. I say lets get rid of the shelters that do killings and get more no kill shelters. If the animal is too sick or agressive and it can not be recouperted or cured then put it down.

I also have 3 indoor/outdoor female cats. 1 is my 2 cat's mother . After she had this 2nd litter my mom got her spayed.Then another female had a litter then After that she was spayed but I found good homes for the kittens. The other 1 got fixed before she had the chance to have kittens,My male cats are also nuetered.

My 3 years and 5 months old ferret has lymphoma ='( He's on prednisone and leukeran right now ; we do our best to help him fight the cancer as long as he still have the strength to live <3 It makes me sick to see people getting rid of unwanted healthy babies and put them on sleep for no reason. We had to take our dog to the Humane Society cause our place is too small. He is a healthy happy dog who needs a family with a yard. I pray he is not put down. I cryer for a couple days after watching this cause it's nothing I could ever do. I know it's the right thing if the animal can't be saved cause it's old and sick or is dangerous. i remember the first time i walked in an animal shelter i was so happy to be adopting a pet but after about ten minutes of being there i remember bursting into tears because although many of them would get happy when i approached ,some of them were ridiculously afraid,sad,shaking and overall unhappy to be in that environment.............and i guess i wasnt prepared for that because no one told me about the very ugly side of animal shelters :(
So crazy...you see videos like this, and then videos of all these dogs giving birth on youtube, and when you try to educate those people about the pet overpopulation problem, they become defensive, as though they can't get a job for themselves and HAVE to make money off their dogs' uterus. Only thing you can do is just always ADOPT. When you buy an animal from a pet store, you're killing another animal in the shelter. The animals are just as equally good if not even more loving at a shelter. Please just always adopt. Most surrendered animals are amazing pets that had owners who didn't care much and just surrendered because of no time, they had a baby, they moved, etc. If you do buy your pet, then for god sake, at least spay/neuter them. It's so cheap too.

I have 2 dogs and 2 cats, all of which are "secondhand pets." One, I litterally smuggled away from "the long sleep" (with the vet's blessing). I work at a no-kill shelter because I couldn't work with animals and know that they are being killed just because no one wants them. Even then, I see depressing things and everyone I know who has worked in animal care ends up smoking. I don't think it's a co-incidence.

He watches the kiddos when they are playing and always sleeping with them. 4 months ago I rescued a 10 year old APBT from the pound and she is so much like him. I can never see how people can dump there animal off after ten years!!!! Pisses me off! I wish there were more people that cared!

Avoid pet stores like the plague - they contribute to the problem! Go to the shelter or a rescue group. There are great mixed breeds and purebreds. When I was a kid, we got our German Shepherd from the SPCA and our Border Collie was from a dog rescue org. Later we got a wonderful mutt and a Beagle from the Humane Society. You save their lives and it frees up space in the shelter for more animals so they can find a home instead of being put down. The shelters don't have infinite space!

So important to spay/neuter, I will not volunteer in an animal shelter, I don't think I could tolerate putting animals to sleep, especially if I helped walk/bathe/care for. There is no such thing as a NO KILL animal shelter. I currently work at an animal shelter and I can tell you first hand that there is no such thing. Humane society euthanizes, PETA euthanizes, ASPCA does too. The diffrence between the ASPCA, PETA, and Humane Society is they take the cute and fluffy ones, leaving the older or "unwanted breeds" with us. The only way to deter this from happening is just to stop breeding. Spay and neuter your animals.

Taking a dog or cat out to the wilderness to 'fend for itself' is simply condeming the animal to far crueler, nastier death. Predators, starvation, or getting shot by the people who live in that 'remote location' who have to constantly deal with feral animals. City-dwellers imagine nature to be some Disney technicolor paradise where they can release to animals to live happy, fulfilled lives. The reality is much, much different.

I have 2 dogs and 2 cats and would love to adopt more but eventually i would reach thelimit of my ability to care for the dogs/cats, i would become a hoarder. Being a hoarder is not good for the animals nor me. So i have to limit what i am able to do for overpopulation of pets by just having 2 cats and 2 dogs. by the way, i consider my pets part of my family and i don't believe i would ever take my animals to shelter when i am tired of them.
And that's GOOD. You're one of the few good samaritans that actually consider their pets a valuable part of the family, through thick and thin. I do think puppy mills should be illegal with the exception of small, responsible breeders. They are not the problem. The problem is humans who are too quick to surrender their pets to kill shelters.
We clearly cannot stop people from breeding dogs. So I think we need to fight the euthanization policies instead.

I often give a bit of my kitty's food to stray cats because they are really skinny and starved. Released a pet into the wild is just a slow, cruel way to kill them ..

True that some can. & Ferrets are really 100% dependends on humans.

Ferrets are wild animals. Whether they were raised by humans is what makes them either feral or not. Plenty of web-based info supporting my claim.

Read Ferrets for Dummies by Kim Schilling, Ferrets (Animal Planet Pet Care Library) by vickie Mckimmey or any other ferret books, also good ferret websites and you'll know that a ferrets can not survive in wild more than 3 days (on average) if they are lucky. This is because most ferrets won't eat raw or even cooked meat but soupie you made and kibbles. They will kill a rodent without knowing its food. They jump on a dog face to play. ect
@georgelopezblows Feral ferrets don't exist. The only wild ferrets are black footed ferret. Its not the same ferrets as the one you see in pet stores. In fact, Marshall ferrets, Path valley ferrets, RC ferrets and many other are already spayed/neutered before they go in pet stores. There is no way they can go feral. Its a HUGE challenge to get them on chicken baby food, I've never really be able to make my ferrets eat cooked meat, forget about raw meat and you think they will kill a prey ?

I worked in an animal shelter. We did'nt have a crematorium. We piled the bodies up in a mound in back of the building, and the garbage trucks would come to pick them up.

I also have 3 indoor/outdoor female cats. 1 is my 2 cat's mother . After she had this 2nd litter my mom got her spayed.Then another female had a litter then After that she was spayed but I found good homes for the kittens. The other 1 got fixed before she had the chance to have kittens,My male cats are also nuetered.

We had to take our dog to the Humane Society cause our place is too small. He is a healthy happy dog who needs a family with a yard. I pray he is not put down. Only thing you can do is just always ADOPT. When you buy an animal from a pet store, you're killing another animal in the shelter. The animals are just as equally good if not even more loving at a shelter. Please just always adopt. Most surrendered animals are amazing pets that had owners who didn't care much and just surrendered because of no time, they had a baby, they moved, etc. If you do buy your pet, then for god sake, at least spay/neuter them. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats, all of which are "secondhand pets." One, I litterally smuggled away from "the long sleep" (with the vet's blessing). I work at a no-kill shelter because I couldn't work with animals and know that they are being killed just because no one wants them. Even then, I see depressing things and everyone I know who has worked in animal care ends up smoking. I don't think it's a co-incidence.

Avoid pet stores like the plague - they contribute to the problem! Go to the shelter or a rescue group. There are great mixed breeds and purebreds. When I was a kid, we got our German Shepherd from the SPCA and our Border Collie was from a dog rescue org. Later we got a wonderful mutt and a Beagle from the Humane Society. You save their lives and it frees up space in the shelter for more animals so they can find a home instead of being put down. The shelters don't have infinite space!

Spaying and neutering is not the problem here. The problem is idiots who run to a breeder or breed their own dogs without thinking. It is a long-term committment. You think you can find a home for it (once it isn't a cute puppy anymore, and when noone will want it), but you can't. You'll dump it on a shelter, who will likely kill it.

And for the record, I have a few rescues of my own. A dog that my husband picked up off of the street that we nursed back to health, and she is a happy and healthy dog. AND SPAYED! There is no such thing as a NO KILL animal shelter. I currently work at an animal shelter and I can tell you first hand that there is no such thing. Humane society euthanizes, PETA euthanizes, ASPCA does too. The diffrence between the ASPCA, PETA, and Humane Society is they take the cute and fluffy ones, leaving the older or "unwanted breeds" with us. The only way to deter this from happening is just to stop breeding. Spay and neuter your animals.

Taking a dog or cat out to the wilderness to 'fend for itself' is simply condeming the animal to far crueler, nastier death. Predators, starvation, or getting shot by the people who live in that 'remote location' who have to constantly deal with feral animals. Being a hoarder is not good for the animals nor me. So i have to limit what i am able to do for overpopulation of pets by just having 2 cats and 2 dogs. by the way, i consider my pets part of my family and i don't believe i would ever take my animals to shelter when i am tired of them.

As must as I kinda like the idea, I'm sure that has major pros and cons. One being the HUGE outbreak of diseases. And when you think about it, it's kinda still avoiding the problem at the beginning. We clearly cannot stop people from breeding dogs. So I think we need to fight the euthanization policies instead.

@georgelopezblows Agreed with most of your comments but not the "animals could be released into the wild" part. Dogs, cats and ferrets are 100% dependent on humans. I often give a bit of my kitty's food to stray cats because they are really skinny and starved. Released a pet into the wild is just a slow, cruel way to kill them ..

@titannikk 100% dependent? There is absolutely no evidence to support that claim. There are stray dogs and cats all over the world that manage to survive. At least in the wild they have a shot at life, unlike kill shelters that take it away under baseless assumptions.

Have you ever watch animal cops ? lol Most of the stray cats and dogs are very young, often kittens and puppies and some of them wouldn't have survived without the help of veterinary care as they are not able to feed themselves (many dogs and cats don't know how to hunt) so they are starving to death. True that some can. & Ferrets are really 100% dependends on humans.

@titannikk I often watch Animal Cops. Most of the stray animal cases I see are involving dogs and cats that are locked in a home or inside a fenced area.
There are many animals in America that die from the fact that humans did not intervene. Should we start providing care for all animals that do not have human owners?
Ferrets are wild animals. Whether they were raised by humans is what makes them either feral or not. Plenty of web-based info supporting my claim.

Read Ferrets for Dummies by Kim Schilling, Ferrets (Animal Planet Pet Care Library) by vickie Mckimmey or any other ferret books, also good ferret websites and you'll know that a ferrets can not survive in wild more than 3 days (on average) if they are lucky. This is because most ferrets won't eat raw or even cooked meat but soupie you made and kibbles. They will kill a rodent without knowing its food. They jump on a dog face to play. ect

@georgelopezblows Feral ferrets don't exist. The only wild ferrets are black footed ferret. Its not the same ferrets as the one you see in pet stores. In fact, Marshall ferrets, Path valley ferrets, RC ferrets and many other are already spayed/neutered before they go in pet stores. There is no way they can go feral. Its a HUGE challenge to get them on chicken baby food, I've never really be able to make my ferrets eat cooked meat, forget about raw meat and you think they will kill a prey ?

seriouslky,just ship some of these animls to countries that want them,i know for sure that people love to keep pets in the sub continent,maily Pakistan and India,just get in touch with some animal organizations here and send some of these animals here,i am sure things can be worked out,but atleast take the initiative

Please spay and neuter or pets this is what happens everyday millions of dogs and cats die. Everyday! Many people think their doing their pets a favor by leaving them intact by their not. For every 1 human baby born, 45 kittens, and 10 puppies are born too. This wouldn't have to be this way if people would just fix their pets... For the pets with no home this is their fate...

This made my heart ache so much. especially at 5:35. the big brown dog looked like such a sweet heart. I would have loved to take him home and make him apart of the family >< !! I cried for him. the kitten and the rest towards the end of the video. Especially for the big brown doggie. the look of fear in his eyes. you can see it. he knows whats going to happen... oh gosh. those poor animals

Before you guys throw hate comments at the people explaining it, they hate doing it.
I hate pets being put down, but they do it in a painless matter as opposed to gassing.
Simply, if you want to help out the animals, adopt one from a pound before they get euthanized. Just commenting on a video isn't going to help. Also, imagine what would happen if pounds didn't have dogs or cats. They would probably strive the streets hungry and die much more painfully. I still think this is sad, though.
