Yep. That's what your government is doing not only to your citizens, but also to us, europeans. I deny to agree that USA is a leader of the world, because it isn't. I won't go into details, but there are plenty of reasons why I dislike policies of the US government.
great, then they can just ban people from the internet. How do they plan to enforce that? Hopefully they will just throw millions of people in prison, for illegally accessing the internet, after they have been banned from it based upon nothing more than accusations from the pieces of refuse in media companies. Luckily this treaty creates the need for monitoring of internet access. Our government is so corrupt and evil.
i thought that it was going to change in the u.s with obama it is becoming worse stupid americans, first they criminalize drugs and now they gonna criminalize filesharing.
they think they have the godgiven right to govern the world, and then they say huh i cannot understand why they hate us.
we are a nobel country and all that sh*t.
yeah but in the meantime they are standing to there eyeballs in blood.
@AtumGraphics I'm a bit confused on this. Why would an anti-pirating act affect artwork? Downloading/viewing art isn't piracy. I suppose your angle is that ACTA would severely decrease internet traffic, as people would be reluctant to browse the net knowing they're being watched? Or is it that the actual web sites that you'd design for would be shut down? I guess I'm still fuzzy on all of this. Why are people saying it will "shut down" the entire internet?
It means that pretty much everything you do on the internet will be monitored.
Stopping illegal material is great and all.... But what's stopping it from being abused? Nothing. It will be abused just like every other technology ever created.
It's what people do - Abuse power. Less power means more freedom.
I can't believe what I'm hearing! First they say the Internet is a human right, then they create the framework for something to take away that right. Does the left hand know what the right hand is doing. The reason we know what happened in Iran with the protests is because the Internet. If all those involved had no access, what then?
Corporation Fascism at it best we knew this day was coming,i like to see them to try to stop me or anybody else who uses a computer,ACTA is killing free speech WAKE UP NOW DAMN IT ?
may need to adjust my firewall to higher risk. 3 strikes and your out! copyright violation . limewire? torrents? P.s. let your natural hair color grow out..too white.
Pres. Eisenhower built our interstate system in the 50's, one of the most prosperous times for the middle class. My father raised a family of seven in a brick home in the burbs with a swimming pool and two cars in the drive and we all had health care and dental....All on ONE income and a 40 hour work week at a manufacturing plant.
Yep...they don't want us communicating freely or protesting their decisions like giving billions to wall street instead of rebuilding the infrastructure...what do they care about our roads, schools and public works...they fly over them!
This is the first step to stopping free speech on the internet and then to stopping free speech every where else. That is why they say it's in the interest of "national security" in Obama's eye's. Doesn't he wish to destroy America? Yes he Does!
Virtually no industry that exists can attribute an "innovation explosion" to copyright. IN FACT, the steam engine invented by James Watts in the late 1700s did not have any competition, and innovation only occurred after the patent expired. Innovation can happen on its own regardless of some silly gov't order.
The book Against Intellectual Monopoly debunks the "need" for patents and copyrights. It's an AWESOME book chock full of facts and studies referenced.
Ever noticed how all those economics textbooks say there's a massive need for copyrights and patents, but they don't provide historical EVIDENCE that invention and innovation was somehow absent in the years before these rules? They don't cite a single study saying innovation needs patent protection, yet they believe it wholeheartedly.
So, if I'm on vacation, and I stop and take a photo of a Coke sign and I send it via email or put it on YT, that's a copy right violation? Or booted porn?

Here's how this works:
1) let ACTA (as described) pass
2) everyone in the world that has internet access file tens of millions of copyright complaints against all of the entertainment folks.
3) accordingly, THEY will have to be shut down, , , , not us.
