Finally, after years of searching, I too finally found this jewel thanks to youtube. Growing up in Québec, the French CBC (Radio-Canada) used to air this show late on Monday night during my sedond year of high shool. Man, to this day, the music still give me the chills. It was called : Angoisse... on the French net. If this is available on DVD for Region 1, I'm definitely getting it...
Do you know, I don't remember this series though the music is kind of familiar. I'm nuts about this sort of stuff now,. Don't like the modern genre of so called thrillers but will be investing in the box set of this
Try eBay if your having trouble finding it. It tooks me years of waiting for it to become available for Aussie viewers.
I got the whole series boxset from eBay about two years ago (2009). It cost $120 Aussie dollars for all 40-odd stories, complete with special features and those American ITV opening titles sequences for each story.
This programme used to scare me to death but I HAD to watch it, every Friday night at around 9.00 pm.....the stories were soooooo...... creepy and the theme tune.....well......ahhhhh I'm scared!!!
What a brilliant and influential series. It can't be denied that this episode from '73 was a direct influence on Dario Argento's great 1976 horror film "Suspiria". When I was kid I saw the episode where the heads in the kiln open their eyes - that freaked me out!
omg..this programme scared me to death when i was a kid and the music intro, just clicked on now and a chill has gone through me,scarier than any horror films.brian clemens knew how to scare..brilliant,thanks for the post
I was a kid when this was on TV, the dramatic music theme I found intimidating and a forebode of macabre things to come. Loved it but scared at the same time :-)
I also saw this series when I was a kid. The most scary movies I've ever seen! The author, Brian Clemens, was also the author of "The Avengers", which was also one of the best crime-series ever made
Yeah. I remember very well this series. Those bristish tv series from the 70's were really great. They don't make it like this anymore. Ces britanniques savent faire réellement bien les choses
I love "Someone at the Top of the Stairs". I saw it in 1976 when I was 7 yrs. old, was scared to death and never forgot it. After years of pre-internet research (i.e. awkwardly flipping through books and directories on television and movie history) I finally found out it was part of the Thriller series and available on dvd. I have watched it over and over. Can't wait for all 6 seasons!
please. can you ask me. where i can buy this THRILLER dvd. this is very important for me. I very like this TV album in U.K. I come from taiwan. thanks
Il était grand temps que cette excellente série sorte en DVD en France. J'espère que les 6 saisons seront éditées et pas seulement la première. En effet, chaque saison de THRILLER contient plusieurs épisodes qui sont à découvrir ou a revoir absolument.
I just found out about newer "Thriller" series.

Use to be on CBS at about 1:00 A.M. Was better than the stuff they had on prime time

I recall a few snippets of a few episodes of this series in the early 80's as a teen.
But, a few years later this particular episode made me, as an adult, an over night fan - 'Marvellous'.

Why can't ITV make dramas like this any more? I'm sure 7 or 8 million people would watch a decent drama over a crummy reality show.
