I have a dispute what to buy 50mm or 24-70mm for my kiss x4 (aka 550d). Main purpose I need a portrait lens BUT not just only to take pictures of exactly models but also person who does not know that they are models ;) so it means I want to take pictures in a long distance too... at the end both are great. However, when you shot the plant, Nikon is more realistic, canon is kinda yellowish,not as in really yellow. I mean colors are not correctly balanced!

i think the nikon has better bokeh. but the photos are dull from the nikon glass. you get popping color and saturation out of the canon. luckily, i care more about how vibrant a photo is, and not how circular the bokeh is. both have good blur. =D

Bokeh are nice on both cameras. However, color is nicer on the canon. It's just like comparing a Mercedes vs BMW, base upon preference.

They both have their place and do they're own thing very well, im not going to be like everybody else and say nikon sucks, or canon sucks, because its just unnecessary, its just what you are used to . If i had money to burn i would also buy both

if you pause at just the right time on the flowers pic you can really see the difference. try pausing at exactly 2:14. you can see that the canon seems more saturated and or contrasty, i personaly like the Bokeh more on the canon, which is great because its the lens I plan to buy.

Colour is very irrelevant. Canon's colours are warmer because it's more aritificial because of the old BW colour meter. Nikon's colours are more representative of the scene's real colour, due to the more advanced colour meter. Simply, just changed the saturation / hue / set to vivid, and there you go, warm colours just like the Canon. If you shoot in RAW, it becomes very irrelevant for either.
