i came up with a theory that involves the book of genesis (fig leaves) buddha (sitting under the bodhi fig tree) jesus (many sayings about figs) ross horne's book (new health revolution) and science (figs are the most important source of food for fruit eating rainforest animals). i then experimented on the figs by eating mainly dried figs (same brand) for over 6 years now and found cycles which i related to the numbers in psgs 11/12 of the book of revelations. this theory has gone everywhere.
so far i have had eliminations at days 504, 840, 1176, 1512, 1848, 2184, and expect my 7th at day 2520. today is day 2496. i have definitely found something. i am not lying. what i have discovered has gone around the world and many songs have been written about it....the foo fighters' last 3 albums...."vertigo" by U2 (my first name is phil)....coldplays' last 3 albums. an elimination is a day when you experience strong flu-like symptoms and feel terrible. bad stuff is washed out of your body.
in australia ross hornes' books have been remvoed from the libraries and the bookshops.
in memory of mr glimmer twins and his penchant for golden gaytime icecreams....collecting photos of bobby brown and paulus the wood gnome thomas....and telling every stranger he meets "dave grohl and the fooies are the new beatles and they are so fab"
Look, yes ZZ Top took the riff from the Stones, it doesn't matter. Most blues music is just recycled anyways. The only thing that's supposed to matter with the blues are the lyrics.
@vitamincity False. The only thing that's supposed to matter in the blues is the feeling. Blues lyrics are probably the simplest ever. "Baby Please don't go back to New Orleans, you know I love you so baby please don't go." Haha. And the Stones knew this.
Somebodies ripping off somebodies riff, ripping off somebodies riff .. . . Only when music became a product did everyone begin talking that crap. Well hell, now with Youtube and MP3s and open sharing I do hope music goes back to sharing rather than all that narrow minded, stupid who ripped off who crap. Grow up!
John Lee Hooker's "Boogie Chillen" and Slim Harpo's "Shake Your Hips." both pre date this version. ZZ Top and the Stone generously use these rifts but listen to both songs and they both give knods to the originators. They clearly mention Slim's name in this song and La Grande actually use the lyrics to Hooker's Boom Boom
I remember first listening to Exile on Main Street when I was about 15, and loving this song instantly. It's so raw and dirty it really does soound like it was recorded in a dark, sweaty basement.
@ElijahMFearon I know...that's what I mean. Read my above post about ZZ Top and plagerism. It sounds just like Shake Your Hips. However, it was Keith Richards who inducted them into the Hall Of Fame so he must not be too pissed :)
It's ironic that this (Exile) is their best album and yet NONE of the so-called Stones classics are on this album (ie, those that you hear at the family party).
In the overall over reaching span of time, I'd say that I find the stones much more interesting than the trad. blues......I like all those old delta men, but the stones took this art form and brought it into a whole different vibe...they breathed life into something that was all but dead.....although, I think keith should give up the smoking habit.
PLEASE READ MY COMMENTS BELOW
can you work them out?

@signalsoldier Don't forget Fried Hockey Boogie of Canned Heat (1968), also a big influence.

May I recommend the book 'An Essential Guide To Music In The 1970s' by Johnny Zero. The author is a big fan of this track.

Is this a remix because it feels wrong. Wish they would just leave stuff alone

@dannyd1572 The copyright holder of Boogie Chillen actually sued ZZ Top, but the courts decided that it was public domain. :3

I'd say 30% of all songs written are based on a well known Blues Riffs
Jonnie B Goode is little more than a pretty simple, old, blues riff, with a lot of fancy guitar over it.
MrCeej9999 1 year ago
this was supposed to be the inspiration for La Grange, though yes a common style, I think this is what inspired themm

That's the first thing I thought too... it's a classic dirty blues riff - hundreds of songs use it. This song was written in the 20's by Slim Harpo.
