  • tried the first trial.. 15round .. each round 1 minutes.. 3-dual-back is hard for me.. even 2-dual-back couldn't get it perfect.. we'll see how it works !.. 1 day 1 trial .. lumosity.com :)

  • I simply can't do the 2-back or harder exercise.

While I am giving my best it seems to be impossible for me.

  • lol "got smarter" that sounds so profession

  • Doing this exercise makes me want to punch the fucking screen.

  • @JeymesPech yeah I hear you bro. Tried today, will continue and see the results in 1 week, if I have the patience.

  • speak clearly !!!! did you say 14percent or 40percent or 4percent?

  • @turtlebest 40

  • what happens when a person who thrives to show creativity , but lacks mentally to expand physically to portray what they are able to do with a little "push"

Things like this shouldn't be frowned upon, but be taken to the test, and build upon cases to apply in real world strategies. Yes small games are what had been demonstrated but what happens" subconsciously" to unlock that person's creativity is through small exercises to expand that defined area...

  • "Get Smarter"? This is all depends on what one's subjective conception of what intelligence is.

    Fucking stupid.

  • @TheOtium One's ability to solve problems is a clear sign of intelligence... There is nothing subjective about this fact. This program helps to improve the subjects ability to solving problems. So... Now ...who is FUCKING STUPID?

  • @karnzkeltic

"A sign of intelligence." But it doesn't DEFINE what intelligence is. And really? solve a problem? What problem? A little puzzle or something meaningful in life? There's a broad range, and you seem to be looking at it pretty narrowly.

  • @TheOtium "One's ability to solve problems is a clear sign of intelligence " What about this statement don't you understand? Definition -- capacity for learning, reasoning, understanding, and similar forms of mental activity; aptitude in grasping truths, relationships... IS THAT BROAD ENOUGH? You should use this program, come back and review your response. Case in point lol

  • So what does the "N" in Dual-n-back mean? "New" problem?

  • @looker768 "N" refers to a variable number, in the case of this training program, it could mean Dual 2 back, Dual 3 back, Dual 4 back, etc. The training gets harder the higher "N" is because it challenges you to recognize (for example) a series of repeating alphabet letters, that were 2 back: A, b, A; 3 back: A, b, c, A; 4 back: A, b, c, d, A, etc. It is "Dual" n back because you have to remember letters AND simultaneously remember the position of squares displayed on the screen. It's hard!

  • @looker768

It's how many steps you have to think back.

1-back means you only need to remember the last letter/position set you saw and check the current set with the last one.

2-back means you need to remember the last 2 sets you saw and check the current one with the penultimate one.

It's called n-back because the possible difficulty is limitless.

  • make this free because it is about making us more intelligent, not making money ..

  • After doing a couple sessions of this thing I realised that my real problem is lack of concentration....

  • what a shit

  • try this for free at Lumosity

  • People, the "we only use 10% of our brain" thing is a myth. What if we were to remove 10% of your brain? how do you think that would make you feel? well you wouldn't think or feel much after that.

we use around 10% of our brains at a time... but we do indeed utilize our entire brain.

  • bushkill :D haha

  • If I see a type of problem, fail it, but see it again, I get better. I don't think my IQ changes though. I just know which direction not to go. Could that be what happened during the second test?

  • your exactly right. that seems very likely. but i do still find this interesting.. the brain is a powerful thing. we take it for granted BIG time. if only we had access to our entire brains... who knows what secrets we could unlock

  • @CalebTheGuitarist lol access to the entire brain? lmao, u develope ur brain, u dont access it

  • develop, access, whatever. am i wrong to say we only use less than 1% of our brain? thats what ive always heard...

  • @CalebTheGuitarist less than 10% but yes, the brain is capable of developing a much more intrecate neural network than an average person developes during his/her life

  • The 10% figure is a myth. It likely derives from the ratio of "processing" grey matter to "communications" white matter, which is close to 10:1. However, all the gray matter, all the neural circuitry that is actually able to "think", is used on a regular basis.

  • @1RadicalOne hmm interesting, then how would the process of learning have any effects on the neural circuits?

  • It increases the interconnectivity. Neurons form more connections - both to new and previously linked neurons, increasing the total number of pathways. In a sense, it increases the neural complexity.

  • What is actually mentioned in the video is the fact that the participants that were part of the experimental group actually improved on solving "new" problems presented to them after consistent Dual-n-back training regimes.

  • So, the participants didn't get better via a trial and error method (learning from experience) but instead through the training they received while playing Dual-n-back, which apparently is linked to increasing one's working memory; working memory which is closely associated to fluid intelligence.

  • Does this make sense? I hope I was helpful...

    :-)

  • according the paper, the control group did improve, probably due to reasons you just outlined, but the significant thing is the improvement in the trained group was well above the improvement of the control group on the test.

  • That would be the case if dual n-back, the test shown in video, used the same or similar sequence over and over again. Instead it forces you to constantly shift your working memory improving your ability to process information which is the purpose of all this mental workout

  • what is a jacket of clothes?

  • @KaminoStryfe lol. i guess it helped everything except speech

  • So you gave a test, then regave it, and the second time around people got better scores?

    Surely you jest.

  • hmmm, anyone here think it could be placebo? Or maybe the actual score increase was from the increased confidence in volunteers?

  • Its not the brain! The brain is a pattern map

for physical signals only...Therefore it's the

mind becoming relaxed with itself...or pure flow of sef intel!I have used this plenty of

    times...

  • shut up, with your "mind" shit! I'm sick of it

  • dlamberson: If we don't have minds then how are we individuals? Everyone sees out of their one eyes and lives in their own body. How is this possible without a mind or spirit?

  • Martin Bushkill?!? aint that a bitch..! ha ha.

  • so what do I do?

  • I wonder what premise the software's strategy rests upon. it's aims and methods.I read in new scientist several years ago that very big increases in measurable IQ was possible if training was maintained for a at least six months. Research is required in this area, there is as yet, no good model which categorizes different training types, It is difficult to compare like with like, also not enough academic research has been done, most of the evidence is anecdotal. else few claims are actually made

  • 0:37 its obama

  • HAHA XDDD Lawl that was funny

  • lol

"yes we can" get smarter, i "hope"

  • nah, his ears arent fucked up enough

  • rofl he was probably like "quick, time to take george w. bush's crash course to presidency 101 training!"

  • nintendo DS has LOOOOOOOOOOADS of brain training "games"

  • make this brain training free for evryone

  • Comment removed

  • @Fr0sht3d it is free, check brain workshop

  • a good workout doesn't make you stronger. A systematic training with increasing hours per week does. Brad's idea of physical training is just go lift iron one time. He ought to use the professional athlete idea instead.

  • That scientist guy, beucshchill (sp?) WAS HOTTT!!! He could put me in his bootcamp any day!

  • Great video, I shared it with everyone at Thoughtware (dot) TV.

    Thanks!

  • They should sell that training...

  • a program called Eye-Q does the same thing, and is commercially available. I bought it, but then lost the CD somewhere ;)

  • lol

  • I keep losing my keys.... maybe this is what I need!
