;-) Blissful state this puts you in. Thanks to my Angel Being that sent this as a calming to my spirit. WORKS LIKE MAGIC. Peace and LOVE to All. <3 to U
Had to share this with my fb friends. Pure Grace in action. Think what you would miss listing to a cd of this performance??? OMG the ARTISTS movements of gracefulness would have been 'totally' missed. What a delightful experience. Thanks to you My Angel Being ONCE again for soothing my soul. My energies are lifting. Mother Gaia thanks you too. ;-) <3**** To the Artist thanks for a most fantastical Ride with you as you journied into love/land. <3<3<3 XXXOOO
Wow, this is incredible. I used to play the flute and this was my standard performance piece that I did all the time. And even though this guy is primarily a guitarist, he still puts my best efforts to shame. Unbelievable.
Aha! Interesting interpretation. Very nice. Well done. Here, he has taken the notes and made it into his own piece. Creative, daring, and totally acceptable (to me, anyway).
Totaly love it! I used to play this song in classic way, but now when I heard this mystic version I just have to try play it the same way like this incredible guy... Some moments in his play are really magic and exciting... Amazing!
Regular for Syrinx; alto for Bouree. If you play Syrinx on an alto, the tonal quality will be different from what it would be on a C flute simply due to the nature of the instruments--and, of course, there's the question of the flutist's abilities.
An alto flute is pitched in G, a 4th lower than a concert flute. Aside from the various folk instruments, I'm not aware of an A flute other than the rarely seen flute d'amour (which is in A or Bb, part way in between a concert flute and an alto flute). I think there's another YouTube video around of Michael Hedges playing a bit of Syrinx on an alto flute, and you can hear the different tonal quality of the alto.
lol. That was a very... unique performance. I like it, in a way. Granted, it's unorthodox, and I don't agree with some of his phrasings, but it was a very interesting twist on a classic. I like!
It seems strange at first, or if you analyze through a classical performance view. But what matters here is his stage perfomance... his body movement... the way he plays and acts like he is indeed Pan playing for his lover... whatever
This song makes me think of woodland creatures.

What type of flute was this that he played and also in Bouree, regular or alto?
Will a mediam Low note A flute be able to play this with close to the same tone and quality?

He really is adding his own personal style to the piece! It's great!!! I love how everyone does that with "Syrinx!"

like at 2:28 when he makes a face after playing those whole tones, "really? a whole tone scale? eh, oh well"
