Mother to a wonderful daughter who I try to KEEP from being too "Tomboy" so a little princess is a nice balance, she'd rather play outside and get dirty! Hmmmmmm
Haha my daughter loves pink too. It's the first color she ever learnt. Maybe that's abit my fault, I admit buying pink stuff and dressing her in pink. but I think pink is a cute color for girls....as I really dislike red. I don't see anything wrong with girls loving to look pretty, to wear dresses, purses and nice shoes. U should see here in Vietnam where parents don;t pay attention to kids clothes, u see teenage girls going out in their pijamas. I prefer my 5 year old trendy pink daughter.
This is one of you best episodes so far, at least in the "mommy" perpective. Was personal, we see actual kids, fun, silly, but yes, with a "expert" on it. Great Job!
you know, I really don't think it's too bad if she's asking, not the parent pushing it.
My daughter loves the princesses and her brothers have called her "princess baby sister" since she was born... she also has the nickname "princess puff"
However, she is very independent, has many other interests, and really she's more into Dora the Explorer than the disney princesses.
I love Dora, personally, because she really is a nice mix of the tomboy and the princess. Let girls be themselves, though.
One of the thngs I find frustrating in the world of pink is the attire ... 12 racks of pinkish girl clothes and 1 maybe 2 racks of boys clothes. Even with July 4th coming up 5 Racks of girl items.... 1 of boy clothing items. You can go on the web find all kinds of cutsy boy things .. for 5 times the cost .... the $3 dollar onesie there is $18
haha *sigh... XD

One dad with a supply of good stories with the know-how to tell those stories can be more effective against the "princess" culture than anything else.
Dads need to take back the "tsunami of commercial pink" with thier own rainstorm of the real stories of strong women, from both life and fairytale.
Dads have a way to deal with this onslaught of princess: using their power of storytelling.

Agreed. Storytelling. Investing time. Even reading are all powerful tools to use in defense of the pink wave. Keep up the great work, DaddyTeller.

I tease my son when we go to stores where the 'girls' aisle has so much pink "Don't let the pink touch you!"
