@ceddy1968 I've never tried and Bob Ross oils, so I don't have the knowledge to say. I've tried most of his other supplies though, and they are fantastic, so I assume his oil paints are great too....Just a little more expensive than brands like Winton.
@XTeejeX Just curious,,have you ever shopped around for your oil painting supplies ? the major art supply outlet in my city refuses to carry any Bob Ross products at all. I asked the manager and he said " for the most part those products are nothing more than high priced junk ".
Comparable paint, brushes etc. at the small outlet that does carry the Ross products are half the price. A 16oz. can of " Liquid White " is priced at $ 23.99 ( Can. ) I mix a comparable paint for under $ 5.00, go figure
@jeanmunn Yeah, that was my realization was well. I've only purchased his Liquid White and Black Gesso, which were around the same price as the other brands, give or take $2. I've noticed his oil paint is way more expensive, but is apparently supposed to be a much better quality of paint.
One day I'll try his oils and let you know if it's worth it.
@XTeejeX Well it's to each his own I guess, the art supply store when I purchase mty material is staffed with well informed folks.
They do not carry Bob Ross products simply because of the " high price and poor quality " Ross oil paints are very soft and manufactured specifically for the " wet on wet " method.
That is a quote from the manager of the store, I bought a Ross 3'' hake brush for blending ( $ 19.99 ) when I started painting again, it was pure junk, not worth five bucks !
@jeanmunn Oh, well I do wet on wet so that might work for me. It's really all about pigment though.
Brushes are tricky...I have about $200 worth of brushes that each have something wrong with them. Just gotta be extra thorough with cleaning I guess, and I'm not so thorough about it haha.
Bro, you just covered everything I needed to know. Great video!
