  • Who is the guy with black guitar!! please?

  • @JimiChristopher

    Paul Mehling

  • great rythm too, like the hot club, the bass does exactly what's necesary,

    nice soloing too

    Rino

  • the man with the black guitar plays in the style with good idea. Bravo

  • wow!!

  • It is so amazing how powerful those instruments are. I love that Evan chops along comping too.... They could power a dance in that room, with no electricity.

  • bravo

  • i have tried to play the guitar all of my life, but i have beeen constantly interrupted by life itself. at my age it is a great pleasure to discover for myself what the greats like Django Reinhardt have done, be it rockabilly or Bach. one should not forget what Isaac Newton said "If I have seen further it is only by standing on the shoulders of Giants." often, it is all of the little people who unknowingly create a musical heritage that can support a gifted talent.

  • gifted musicians! if only Django was alive to explain - but then the mystery would die. your insight reminds me of the Beatles - "there's nothing you can know that isn't known." may i add that now, everyone has leisure and access to discover the trail laid by the "pioneers". they cut the path that we walk. originality is quick when the chalkboard is bare; after that we simply discover the discovered. has the probability of composing an original line ever been calculated? is music limited?

  • looks fun... genre blend is post modern formula.... "originality" has been done.

  • post-modernism is the last refuge of the lazy.

  • More!! :D

  • Rex,man, just listen and enjoy the music!

  • This is like watching those guys who do Civil War reenactments.

As Grapelli used to say; one Django was enough.

    Artists stuck in the past.

  • Then don't watch. I find there is nothing wrong with learning to play in the style of a particular guitarist. The intent is not always to be original. Some enjoy a style of music so much, that they need to become a participant and not merely an observer. There is only one Django, and guitarists are blessed to have his example to learn from. The more people that play this style, the greater the chance of it influencing and melding with other styles to create new genres.

  • By your account, should violinists cease to perform Paganini pieces?

  • You got it! Just Bach or Vivali, please.

  • And I could say; if you don't like what I write; don't read it.

So much for opinions expressed openly in a free country!

You might like North Korea better?

But melding new styles from old is not what's happening here; it's like tracing a Master's old drawings. Never as good as the original.

  • Please, by all means express your opinion openly. Is it against the rules to disagree with your opinion and engage you in a conversation about the post? I can't imagine that you are trying to disuade open discussion and keep people who oppose your opinion from wanting to engage you in a conversation about the post. Because that would definitely be a welcomed pursuit in North Korean government. Now, back to the topic at hand!

  • It is true that these chaps aren't mixing genres and I suppose they don't intend to. However, as I suggested in my original comment, the more people choose to carry on the tradition of this music, the more ears it reaches, and the greater a chance of someone choosing to meld it with other genres.

  • That's how I see it. Nothing wrong with people playing the music they love. But everyone is entitled to their opinion... of course when you argue on the Internet, everyone is a loser. I learned that when I was 15, surprised I forgot it for a minute there.

  • Which Civil War?

  • The one between your ears.

Gee, I dunno, we are mostly gringos here so...figure it out.

Do other countries do something so stupid?

  • Yes, is the short answer.

Learn some world history is best advice at this point...

  • Advice is best given when asked. No thanks anyway.

Never heard of other countries doing Civil War reenactments.

But the good old South will never die.

  • ..You'll be pleased to know ( or not, as the case maybe) that they do plenty of civil war reenactments here in Britain....US civil war as well as English civil war...oh, and gypsy jazz reenactments too!...

  • So, stupidity really is the International Language as Frank Zappa used to say. Doubt anyone who was actually in a war and terribly wounded would go for that. I lost family to War and think it's absurd.

  • I don't think the people who do this are stupid necessarily but there does seem to be a bit of arrested development going on...cowboys and Indians for grown ups...

  • violin?

  • to Schlappe19: It's not a black guitar, it's EGGPLANT Purple!

    Dellarte modele Pazzo!

    fyi...

  • beautiful black guitar

  • Give him a big hand Zep!
