In the world there are only 2 economies: one is communism and it has shown in EVERY place that it is a disaster (Cuba, Spain, China, Vietnam, Camboya...), the other one is CAPITALISM and it is the one which the biggest economies had (USA, China NOWADAYS, HK, Japan, Germany...)the 1st one has always lead to poverty (like Mao Zedong's one),the 2nd one to a fast develop of countries(like actual China, HK before, USA, China, Germany...)I dont like capitalism too but it is capitalism or poverty

Ok I will not say any comment about people and I will only talk about economy. Japan and Hong Kongnese economy were almost the same as China's until 1950 cus of the War disaster, however in 50's and 60's Japan and HK economy grew at 7%each year (Japanese one had the Jimmus boom which made their economy to grow 12% in 10 years)and nowadays we can compare HK economy with rest os China's and it seems like comparing 2 countries one with Japan's level and one with Cuba's renta per capita

Democracy works? You got a democratic countries with quite a long resume for foreign policy aggression. Democracy is used for justification for selfish reasons of foreign policy. You got a president going against his own country and congress to wage an illegal international war.
