  • Thank you for posting this video.

The best database I've found is Mybusybiz. It's great for small business.

  • yes i was also glued to my seat listening to his ers

  • I really like the idea of data management, because my Uncle and Aunt work for a company and they do this stuff; but im not sure whats data management all about?!

Im sure there are different branches. sort of.

Will someone be so kind of referring me to a website or an introductory video?

    Just msg me.

  • I went to look through the youTube channel for NPTELHRD; so that, I could find the other 41 videos on the topic of database management. They are not on youTube. This school has a lot of videos, many more than what you will find on youTube. You can go to their web site and take with you the information in the description like the name of the location and the professor who made the video. On their site you can search by location and professor and then topic to find the rest of the videos,Great stuff!

  • Good Stuff! I was glued to the edge of my seat the whole time. 42 hours of database structure and database management from a professor for free is an incredible deal. I will devote 1 hour a day to make this work for me in the next 43 days. When the course is over I expect I will be able to create the applications I need. I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us. Your teaching style is perfect for such a study, not to fast and many examples to reference. Again, Thanks.

  • I recommend DbSchema as a database management tool

  • How can I get the software for this lecture, please can you help me with the software to download to practice the class on my own.

    ahmedhm1@yahoo.co.uk

  • thank you so much for the vid great teacher thanks

  • how can i download it?

  • @alonepetal copy the url . .

then open keepvid.com .paste the url you can download it from there

  • Awesome teacher

  • Thank you Sir for this video....It is a very simple way of understanding the meaning of DBMS.....Thanks....

  • dat soundtrack

  • Great video with good examples... Thank you sir....Excellent teaching...

  • Excellent teaching with practical examples.... God Bless

  • this Professor is great. Good on IIT for putting their top tier education online.

  • thanks sir... excellent teaching with that of practical examples ...thanks for uploading such a useful video...

  • @aptelhrd where are other lectures ????????this is only part 1

  • @mask75260 The other lectures are there, you can see them on the right hand side.

Unfortunately, they are just titled as lecture 1b, lecture 2 etc. And do not have the course name in the video name.

  • I understand that some example should be given. But showing how to use LIC. not good. When they teach so slow and inactive most of students will feel sleepy. See i have nothing against this person. My views are reflect of our indian teachers. As a fact they have very good knowledge however unfortunately while teaching to others they are not at all good. I have heard lot about IIT's my expection was very high with international standard.

  • @prvnkumark I still do not understand your motivation. LIC is govt company (like IIT) and if he is using as example to motivate use of databases in our day to day life, it is really good example. He is not using a private company like TataAIG to promote. Regarding technology, blame the guys who are recording his lecture. See that they are not able to take the feed directly from the computer. Blame the equipment given to him. This lecture is world class but not the recording.

  • @uplife10001 I fully agree with you. Excellent video. The entire lecture has practical content. Most of the lecture describes the e-tendering software developed by the prof for IIT Madras. I found from his site that this software developed by him for IIT Madras is available commercially from Essential software ( he is not trying to promote even this good sofware - a nice software in today's context to promote transparent e-tendering software.

  • My comment may suck. But its more shocking when a lecturer from IITM teaches like this. I think this kind of lecture is suitable only for Halli dudes like you. Who would have never seen net banking or any other e-transactions. I agree things should be thought in simpler manner but without touching the subject its awkward man. I am sure your his student. You both suck.

  • @prvnkumark Let us discuss. This is the first lecture and meant for everyone. This example is better than any other examples in any introductory book on databases. You mean to say everyone is familiar with e-transactions (then what example should be given here). If your idea of touching subject it to discuss the cases for which e-transactions fail, except you none may understand. Let me ask then : For which cases 3-phase commit in e-transactions will fail? I am not his student (fyi)

  • Sir,

Your topic was teaching Basic of DBMS but your promoting LIC. Shit i wasted my complete one hour. Please have a look at some of the video training by Jeremy coira from CBT nuggets. IITM sucks.

  • @prvnkumark This comment sucks. It is the first lecture on introduction. It shows a simple and elegant example of how workflow happens over federated databases (in this case over SBI and LIC databases). This is about few minutes. The rest of the lecture shows how to develop a database application end to end. For advanced concepts like 2 phase commit etc, one can look at later lectures.

Shit! I am surprised such idiots also watch these lectures!!

  • hey man y is person not confident of himself,,,is dis d frst time he is teachin,,,he is not delivering his words properly,,wat kind of institute dat must b wer he is

  • @vishu1009 OH COMEON !!! HE IS A GOOD TEACHER . . . .CAMERA CONSCIOUS MAYBE.

  • @shahabsworld , Dont you feel he should prepared for that. He is not kid.

  • @vishu1009 He is teaching in IITM so I guess he has enough knowledge on this topic.

  • @vishu1009 Your comment is an assault of the English language.

  • does the introductory really need to be that detailed ?

  • @nikegyal25 That's what IIT standard is :)

  • @The1ProudIndian He should do work on 3 of 5 fail-safe, Rollback or Commit, intrustion detection and correction, encipherment, key-control, distributed consistency, ctatsrophic event recovery, data-structures and user-interfaces. That should keep nikegyal25 busy for a few days.

  • @pzmtuthcvpvl professor had already mentioned this course is taught to 3rd year under graduate stuents who absolutely don't even know what the database is and professor is trying to explain with day to day life exapmle.

  • @The1ProudIndian Please explain to me how 3rd year under graduate stuents who absolutely could not know what the database is.

  • @pzmtuthcvpvl listen I have studied engineering ..... I had a quite introductory knowledge about database studied during high school...but no matter what your branch is computer civil sugar, in the first year we had subjects from all different branches.like chemical science, electrical, production, mechanics, mathematics from 2nd yr std have sub specific to their branch.

now during 2nd year we learned computer langueges, mathematics, os

in 3rd yr we started learning about DB....

    nething else

  • @The1ProudIndian Well there is a definite and material area of investigation here. One can ( emphasise can ) get a shop student who with major luck on what is available do significant work towards some rather advanced topics. Conversely, one can get blunders as well as other issues with which I am sure you are familiar, but my major central point that we can move forward on is hammering of M.S. Thesis Candidates with Data Structures when some hardware and a real-world problem may do more.

  • @pzmtuthcvpvl For 2 phase commit and 3 phase commit protocols, look at later lectures (lectures 25 and 26 and 24 for distributed transaction models.)

  • @flashprogram thank you

  • Comment removed

  • couldn't hear sound after 12 minutes!! why is that?

  • Wow... I Also get my lectures in discrete math in this institution..

  • you are very good Sir...Probably girls are the only reason guys are awake in your class.....if girls are not in your class...then all guys are sleeping...i bet...

  • bad QL by the way good Lec

  • A little slow for my tastes, but the video has good examples. Thanks for showing this!

  • Good lecture, the samples screens are blurry, or am i going blind?

  • which website do you use to create a table in the database and save it in the database?

  • This is not an education it is more likely the professor reading a book. It should be more interactive, proactive and enthusiastic learning.

  • Thank you very much!

  • where is url of this video?

  • thank you very much prof

  • I just want to know how to convert the system (the working system) into DATABASE design like Entity relationship model, relatioonal model and object oriented model

  • @pammiam

then y r u watching this video asshole??

    mind your own business.

  • Excellent video. Simple introduction to databases and shows a practical example of how to build a data base application. Thanks for putting this video.

  • I really appreciate the way of approaching and introducing the database concept in daily life in thie lecture. Thanks for such a nice video tutorial.

  • thank you very much,it was helpful and educative for me,wish you success

  • i agree. the INFO itself is good, but the presentation is QUITE LACKING. you mix in the already-boring topic of DBMS with monotone lecture style and you get a perfect catalyst for a nice big cat nap at work. :) Bless you sir for the knowledge and nap. :P

  • Great information that is useful for business people as well as for those who are in school.

    Superb job!!!!!

  • GOVERNMENT Shuld treat you and creators of this Project as stellar as possible. One of the great wonders for me. It makes my dream of studying into IIt true !!!

    Thanks God !!!

    Please Bless them !!!
