  • His name is Bubo!?? Epic win!! My favorite character in the Guardians of Ga'Hoole series!

  • Bubo? Like the Ga'hoole owl or as in Bubo Virginianus?

  • @Billy145891 like how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop XD remember that commercial?

  • @Tsumefan2 I sure do.

  • He has gigantic serious eyebrows. Easily among the most serious looking of the animals.

If they put a great horned owl in a cage facing a bald eagle, the staring contests would probably light the foliage on fire.

  • These are the only type of owls that hoot.

  • @Prfactist

Wrong. A Barred Owl hoots as well,as well as others around the world.

  • His face is all, "u dum human, ur not doin it rite HOOT HOOT."

  • is it me or do all owls look like they are pissed off?

  • Did You Know: This is the ubiquitous owl hoot stereotype for all movies.

  • @MavrilLankins because it's a haunting and beautiful sound, for sure

  • He's gonna kill you. We have a few of those that moved in just last year and stuck around. One landed on my my fence, I thought it was a cat. lol It let me walk right up to it and take its photo...though walking up to it wasn't planned, I couldn't see where it was at since I'm short. ^^; But he didn't mind, which was a good thing for my fingers. :3 They are so awesome. I call him Gary. ;D

  • he could play the santa claus part in a play LOL he is so cute (: such a beautiful animal

  • so cool to SEE one hooting. I've only heard the hooting outside in total darkness (which is cool enough). When he inflates that beautiful white bib I can really see why they're called "cat owls", the white bib, the tabby stripes, the razor claws, the piercing eyes... Magnificent bird. BTW I love the snippet of your "owl talk" at the end ;-)

  • What a neat creature. :)

  • its kinda freaky that the eyes dont move

  • 0:10 "ho ho ho" made me laugh!

  • Its santa! \o/

  • 0:27 OWL : O RLY?

  • Um is he named Bub after the on in the Guardians of Ga' Hoole Series?? Do they live in western kentucky?

  • -_- owl talking XD

  • Stern bird is stern.

Why do all of the raptorial birds look like they're sick of somebody's bullshit?

  • @Bullzeye95

    ...This comment deserves more attention.

  • @QuinEXE sorry. Idiots with their PETA "all animals under human care are slaves" horseshit really get on my nerves. It shows a lack of common sense and a staggering inability to pay attention, thus exposing animals to a real risk of harm.

I have this terrible idea in my head of some stupid asshole in California in a ski-mask "freeing" dozens of "enslaved" raptors from their cages...where they promptly get eaten by the out-of-control feral dog and cat population, also a direct result of PETA.

  • your hooting is awesome! haha. i love owls.

  • Cute

  • i just went outside for a smoke and heard several of these owls really close. i followed the hoot of one and it lead me to the church just across the road from us and i saw one just sitting on the roof of the church. amazing birds.

  • it was almotst as if he were mimicking your hoots.

  • Those paws are scary. Talons? no man those look like huge dog paws with wicked razors.

  • he walks along the perch with his head down like "hmm...yes...I am pondering this..."

  • @LaurenMinutes yes! he gave me the impression of a wise, yet grumpy old man

  • @LaurenMinutes haha! so mr. owl, how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop?

  • @LaurenMinutes I think he would make a great Sherlock Holmes, with all that pondering and looking down (at clues, of course). Better than Robert Downey Jr.

  • god damn that thing looks evil.... wouldnt wanna see one of those in a dark spooky barn, especialy if its protecting its nest... scary mofo

  • Free the Virginanius!

  • what a beautiful owl! I love his hoot..

  • 0:13 and 0:20 hur hur hur....

  • zirukurt01 . deviantart . com / art / Horned-Owl-Resemblance-168715712?q=1&qo=1

I have a photo about owl resemblance.

  • what you say!? i'm gonna mess you up

  • 0:47 I think he was yelling goddamn sonnuva bitch in owl talk.

  • ooohh lois, always talking....

  • 0:44 Gimme some tail, bitch.

  • he looked genuinely confused at first then he started having a conversation with her LOL.. then apparently she insulted him and he started flapping about

  • Is the person with the camera hooting at it? If so, she's great.

  • HO HO USE SCRATCH ATTACK!! HO HO!!!

  • I've seen this type of owl in our area in Kansas, before. It wasn't this close. That's for sure. I had no idea that their legs are that thick. Wow. They look like cankles. Strong grip.

  • Minnesota? Crap...why isn't it somewhere close to where i live?

  • Damn! I think he was planning to take over the world!

  • @Taspearl

    lol ha ha ha

  • i wonder what your talking about with him

  • Magnificint creatures such as that should never be locked up on a cage

  • @Holister951 true

  • @Holister951 You're a jackass and an idiot. It's a rescue bird, not a captive. The only way you can legally keep an owl or any other bird of prey is if you're a licensed handler and the bird can never be released due to permanent injury. This owl is crippled and would die in the wild.

Your profile proves exactly what kind of a "nature fan" you are. Go watch more Disney movies and come back when you're ready to talk about real life animals and their real life needs in the REAL LIFE world.

  • How sweet! I love owls. :)

  • I knew it! Two toes in front, two in back.

The owl specimens in the Animal Science building at my college have been mounted incorrectly. They have all have three toes in front and one in back.

Can they not be released if imprinted on humans? I had a neighbor who raised an owl and it one day burrowed out and was never seen again. I hope the little guy survived.

  • @RobbytheLion i hope he did too, but probably unlikely because it probably hasn't learned to hunt prey correctly

  • Cute :3

  • Cutest bird out there.

  • love it! love the hoot, i like how it walks and its big ass talons are crazy.

  • So do I.

Not much to film jogging, as a norm.

  • beautiful birds :)

  • there is an owl at Bays Mountain Park named Bubo... this owl didn't move there did it?

  • Had a Great Horned Owl almost take me out, while I was jogging down the, South Seminole Trail beside Markham Woods Road in Lake Mary Fla. I saw a rat rippin into the brush on my left, then looked forward , and this Horned Owl, is like chest level straight at me. No joke haters, wingspan at least 5-6 ft. Im like WTF! Swear to god, its wing touched my shoulder or it was turbulance. Simply amazing. Missed the rat and sat in a tree staring at me. Started making insane sounds, guess it was pissed.

  • Something like that happenend to me once. I was riding my bike, just getting ready to turn into a corner and a big owl flew in front of me. I stopped and watched it disappear into the woods. The wing span was huge.

  • why were you jogging at night? owls don't hunt in the day

  • I wasn't jogging at night.

It was early in the morning.

Areas on this trail are covered with trees growing over. At 6:00am some areas are light, some are still dark.

Regardless of the light conditions, this Owl was hunting, promise ya that.

  • And btw many Owls do hunt in the day.

    Yep, Horned Owls as well.

  • cool story man i would have taken a picture of it though.

  • He is beautiful! Haha you've got them all hooting!

  • i did some volunteer work at Oak Mnt. State Park in Pelham, Alabama (just south of Birmingham since you've likely never heard of Pelham) We had a nice collection of "resident"owls includeing a male and female Great hornes. Anyways, don't really know why i'm telling you this but u should check out Oak Mnt. if you're ever in Alabama with some free time. It's actually a wild life rehabilitation center within the park.

  • haha... looks like you pissing him off.. :p I wish i could encounter them wild!

  • i live on a farm once now and then i will get a great horned owl in my themonother gaege house . very pritty birds. he looks pissed off LOL . shold ask the owl how many licks do it take to get to the center of a lolly pop LOL now that wold be funny .

  • 0:44 that owl was like

    I'm a what, bitch?!

  • @Kinosanga LMAOO SHIT MADE ME LAUGH

  • Beautiful creature! This owl has such a reputation as a hunter, and one look at those talons and strong claws gives you every explanation needed...

  • Nope. It's a surprise attack. What's an osprey to do? Like with a catch-pole for dogs, raptors keep the impaled victim an arm's length away. The owl need not lift the victim, only pull it over the side and ride it to the ground where it can be dispatched. To paraphrase the wizard Merlin when appraising the mad Cully, "You will never leave his grip alive."

  • A nightmare for other raptors. This owl is a seeker who comes under cover of night, often ambushing osprey females roosting on their nests.

  • Aren't ospreys a bit too big for them?

  • what are those on it's feet?

  • I'm not 100% but, i think those are for when your holding the bird on your arm, with that big glove, you tie the bird to the glove so it can't fly away? But I could be totally wrong?

  • ha ha wonder what he said to get it so pissed lol

  • Bubo kinda pissed off :p but I like her hooting ;)

  • Hi, I have a question would it be possible for them to sort of fly right over u like about 6 inches close to u like try to scare u maybe cuz i was at the ranch once in mexico and i was walking to my grandmas house and i felt this big ol' gust of wind right over my head at night i looked up i could not see anything i got so scared we ran for it lol. They say its witches but i try not to belive in it.. could owl's possibly do that, I heard it happen to my sis once too. Please reply! Thanks

  • They win points for naming him Bubo

  • Yeah, like from The Guardians of Ga'Hoole

  • There's also a classic greek myth film called Clash of the TItans with a robotic owl named Bubo! XD

  • They're such amazing birds. They're huge. My freind almost go maimed by one! It was attacking his baby ducks so he attacked back with a flimzy piece of wooden siding; the only weapon on hand!

The owl won the fight. Their four inch talons are deadly weapons. Their feet are as big as your hands and are deadly wapons! They are amazing, powerfull, deadly predators!!!

  • @cannibalion yea and there body gets so big we were afraid they might get my dog when they were living in my backyard

  • excellent hooting

  • isnt he beautifule what a gorgess bird

  • 0:44 "NO U"

  • Owls are a great example of how similar people are to animals. There are some people who will disagree and say "no I have nothing in common with animals I did not evolve I am superior to animals blah blah" but we're really not that different at all. People can be just as territorial as animals and in this case, an owl.

  • Awesome! I wonder what it thought you were saying? :)

  • I never see them hoot in any of the educational vids I've seen. It's kinda cool to see their 'chin' fluff up while they speak!

  • Now this is what I call a really HOOT!!

  • Owls are my favorite animals their awesome!!!

  • clever name, bubo. Nice video

  • man... i wish i could speak owl

  • 0:44 THATS it im kicking your ass

  • He's sayin, "That's some BS your talkin there." LOL

  • O-RLY!!!!!!!!

  • woah that's awesome! Owls are so cool!

    :)

  • What is so sad is to see so many in captivity. But I guess they were injured and

couldn't be released. Thanks for all you people that care for injured wildlife!
