band did change my life - first "punk" show i ever saw in 1985/86 on Enjoy tour. they were punk within punk for being so punk to see about real life feelings and not just lame macho crap...they taught a lot of us that it was ok to feel shitty about a girl, etc.
ive been listening to the descendents since I wa like a pre-teen. but their music didn't really hit me till there was something that had happened to me where I could really relate to one of their songs. now there are so many of their songs that when I listen to them, it reminds me of something I went through. I loved reading that Milo said all the songs he writes involve something that had actually happened to him. the songs just hit you that much harder. milo knows you!
apparently there are a lot of 11 year olds commenting on this video.. I mean really.. name one fricken band out there with this style and structure! cmon kids pull the song apart and take a closer look..
i know a place, up in the air it's not very far, i've been there before i know a place, cool and warm cooling my blood, warming my heart so come on down and walk with me, and tell me i'm your man i only want to know a couple of things about you where were you when i was in so much trouble with myself and do you still believe in me like i believe
bill fucking stevenson man. he never faltered with his right hand. he played every high hat hit and never cheated. also what's up with the hatred for new pop punk. check out the ergs. they kill it.
This band got me through my teenage years and I still love them 25 years later..
no gimmicks no bullshit just pure music . I swear i thought every song was written about me it was so endearing Got to see ALL once in Australia but would have killed to Milo in action Much respect to the descendants
@johnnycashconverter amen. i remember listening to this album (don't wanna grow up) in my bed before school in 8th grade. god so many great memories. they really will make you see the value of pop music in punk
Bill Stevenson is the greatest drummer ever. I seriously mean it. I don't care how many beats a minute the metal fucks can play. His drumming is so solid.
they're as popular as they wana be, if they wanted to be in the light 24/7 itd be easy for em. but personally i love the fact of knowing bands that 'havent been discovered' (or underground).
This song sounds so modern day pop punk it's not even funny. Little did the audience know they were hearing what punk rock would sound like 20 years later! Funny how I like them so much when I dislike so much of the newer pop punk bands that basically steal their sound.
@unfortunatebeam this is kinda creepy when you put it this way. it's like they predicted the future or something lol. i think the difference between their pop punk like songs and the nowadays pop punk songs is descendents just happened to write a song like that, and a lot new bands we have right now are trying too hard putting their sounds into this format or something
Don't Want To Grow Up is such a terribly underrated album. I'm so glad they never tried to live up to a "punk ideal" and just played heartfelt music. This band will change your life if you give them the chance.
@cardigansarecool Agreed. I started listening to the Descendents when I was 13. I Don't Want to Grow Up was the first record of theirs that I bought and it's my favorite. This band changed my life.
the dude that beat your ass is a tool. and these days he's probably a fat ass sporting a neck thicker than a goodyear tire. fuck him. you were cool and still are.
I have much respect 4 this band for influencing so many poppunk bands i like today
