Actually, Southwest PURCHASED Airtran. Rumoured had it the two CEO of each airlines was in talked of code sharing each other but Airtran CEO didn't want to code share. Then SWA CEO said he wanted to purchase Airtran then. Airtran agreed to it and accepted the offer.
Love that bags fly free but I hate your boarding system - especially the A-List part. I'd almost pay for a bag so I can know what seat I am getting and not have to be stressed out 24 hrs before a flight for getting "group B".
