I beat Uldred by using two warriors, a rogue, and a mage. I have Wynne and Leliana focus their firepower on Uldred while Alistair and my Human Warrior PC took care of the Abominations until they were gone, then had them focus on Uldred. I managed to save all but one mage by using the Litany of Adralla.
I'm just frustrated because of this boss. He kills me everytime when I thought I got him -.- I play a human warrior and the same group as you. I wish there were a way you could change your group everytime. But I think it would be too easy then...I'll need very muuuuch luck at this one ^^ It's just a very, very good game. I love it except of this boss XD I need to know how the story goes on *aarg*

Rather, the gameplay itself is if you're not cheating(Spoken mostly to myself; I totally guilt trip myself for cheating occasionally for the hell of it. the pc version is easier i have this game on all 3 consoles pc, xbox and ps3. i say this because the talents you don't have to cycle through on a game controller and i hope they make an online version of this game where you can do co-op play and take away pauses very good game mostly rely on talents and skills for gameplay
@truesivad The PC is way harder than the console versions because Bioware was expecting PC users to macro keys which made the battle pace faster than a controller. That being said, it's been programmed to be harder.

Pausing is what made this game a gem, it really plays a part in the classic genre of how Bioware made their previous games.
@wizdumthepeach If you don't like the games intended style of battle, then don't buy the game.
It's as simple as that.
It's probably best you didn't buy the game, I doubt your intelligence is high enough to make strategic plans against each of the bosses, let alone common monsters.

@InfernoDivider00 i got no idea what you mean but its a good game on pc, ps3 and xbox since on the console its a bit harder to be very tactical while on the pc you can pause place craracter play, pause pick talants/spells play pown. but on the console they made the game esier so hard on pc is esier on console. :)

@Shadowkiwi of course you can play without pause. look it up on options never to pause any starting combats and never press space.. or, if you're really desperate, go to key bindings and pick no key for pause feature.
i killed wynne so im pretty stuck but ill keep trying my best. it will take me forever lol. anyone want to give me any tips? Im playing on the X-Box 360.
it took me ages to do this because i accidentally killed wynne i agreed that all the mages should die and there was no way back sadly but eventually i did it lol
well when you elave the fade you can get that scroll off of the dead guy (whom you met in the fade) . In the fight , whenever Uldred makes a magical ring around a mage, go into ur hotkey ( or something ) menu and use it near the circle to save that mage from being transformed. at the end of the fight, it seems regardless the mages disapear, but if you did all that in the fight, it should coun that you saved them, and the mages will join your cause instead of the templars. Hope that helps :)
@greekpanther1 If your talking about Wynne, I did by accident. lol. Luckly I had a save before that so I just went to that and had to go threw it agian. But it wasn't that far to travel. It was right after the Sloth Demon
Im stuck at this boss, the stupid thing is you cant change the group before entering to the hall... so I have 2 wariors a rogue and 1 mage... and no one has the freeze you use... suck so much :/
Im not stuck anymore :) My position was almost impossible (I had only 2 healing poultries and 5-7 lesser ones but they do shi... )but Wayne got some lyriums so I was blocking with Alistair and my knight and Wayne and Liliana were supporting and dmging :) Now Im collecting templar armor for Alistar... great game
this is so much easier then the xbox version.. we dont get to stop.. our game just keeps on going.. i had to put him on easy he was so hard..then again i didnt use the litany.
Whenever there would be a glow around a group of mages, it meant he was going to summon more abominations. You use the item when you see the glow and it cancels his summon.

I beat Uldred by using two warriors, a rogue, and a mage. A little hard. But beatable. Press pause when it says 'massive attack' and move all characters away from him.
Keep healing and prepare many lyrium pots also for Wynne.

I believe you use an item to make it so he can't summon, check your inventory.

There is this "Litany" item I read about that will get rid of his Abomnations and not allow him to summon but I don't know how to use it on him.
In terms of strategy, you need to get rid of his first wave of Abominations then attack him.
